I feel like what elevates the detective’s office and brick bank to greatness is that they are like the only modulars that have interactive mechanical play features tied to a story, which is kind of what you expect out of a LEGO set.
I would put Assembly Square and the Boutique Hotel in the upper echelon of Lego Modulars. After adding an additional middle floor to the Boutique Hotel (a breakfast room/restaurant) and making some other changes, it has become my favorite ever. I agree that the new Tudor Corner looks like it has the potential to join the greats.
I rather watch your video than all of the other RUclipsrs who got an early set from Lego. They do nothing but sing praises on the new set. Please keep it that way. Thank you!
It looks an awesome set, I don't really have any modulars but I feel like this might have to be a must purchase! Being British I love the fact that it is not another North American themed building. The attention to detail is so good. The printed piece in the flat with the sunflower lanyard is so important to people with hidden disabilities. My daughter has autism and relies on her lanyand when out of the house!
I also am thinking to get it as my first modular I got a used to copy of the harry potter castle planning to build the "Racing Brick" rebrickable Moc University but never got around to building it but I imagine it could look good together with this new modular.
This one is gorgeous and a huge step up from the last few modulars. This looks like it'll rival the Parisian Restaurant in looks. It's also nice to see Lego stepping out of their architectural comfort zone and doing something so localized and specific. The PPP ratio is also surprisingly good, given Lego's pricing trends. Pricey by competing brand standards, but not terrible for Lego.
This modular looks incredible. It may be the first time I get one when it first releases to get that GWP. Great review. You always do a great job breaking it all down with much detail.
I really like it!! I’m very excited that they branched out into a Tudor style building. The Parisian Restaurant is my favorite (it was my first, bought after a trip to Paris), and I like the charm this one has. Great review as always and h look forward to your review after building it.
Your detailed analysis has solidified my excitement for this set! I feel like LEGO took some risks with this one, with some callbacks/visual similarities to two of my favorites, the Detective's Office and Brick Bank. I look forward to your full review and building it myself.
I am going for this January 1st and then probably no buying for a while as the Avengers Tower is still in my backlog, and I am currently waiting on my pet shop modular to arrive a 13 year wait for this but totally worth it.
While I do enjoy the look of this set, I’ve never been one to collect the modular sets. I’m not sure if I want to grab this one or just skip it as I normally do. I think if I did get it I’d regret all the other Modulars I’ve skipped over the years haha.
The goat "guarded Inn" plaque is a print. That's enough to make it great (they should have made the building signs in the Medieval Town square prints as well T_T ) . But this I think can be the start of a modular medieval city.
This really is above n beyond for a lego modular technique n style wise n all, and honestly I don’t think it’s coincidence it’s in this British style, I honestly think they are starting to see the competition at funwhole n pantasy, n it is making them up their game now, which I think is great, and exactly why these new companies giving them competition is great thing for us brick lovers, its going to make whole industry get better, lego included
It sure is different. I would not mind if they went back to focussing on 1 thing instead of the small additions to the main build. This is kinda cool and a fair bit different tho. I will buy it, as i collect them. Would love to have a hospital next year, or a appartment complex😅
I'm so looking forward to getting this set. I think it will be a great build. Just not sure how well it fits with the other Modulars in terms of style of building.
I like the looks of this building. I do not have a Lego city and do not collect modulars, but this looks great and the cost is pretty reasonable (at least for Lego)...LOL
There are seats on the inside inside the angled part of the Inn. I like the building and from the outside it is great! It is just missing something on the inside...maybe another table in the Inn? Some pictures? Anyway. Great review and thank you😊
Just compare this to the X-Men Garden Shed set we got last month, its like night and day. Compare the windows or exterior, look at the window detailing and that third floor of this and then look at the plain dullness of the Garden Shed with its basic building techniques from 1976 and how tiny it is. Then realise that this costs about 100 smackers less than the X-Mens Garden Shed...how? How can this cost so much less and yet have more bricks and look ten times better...money laundering? Fraud? Has some x men fans taken Lego staff hostage and forced Lego to do x men sets at gun point? I cannot understand how that Garden Shed set was released, there has to be foul play at work. Lego, wink 3 times if you want us to phone the police.
Help, please. I got the Assembly Square for around 200 US. I want to get this one too, but should I wait or day 01? I ask because I like the GWP, so will the GWP on its own cost about what I could potentially save if waiting? Thank you.
My thoughts as well. The friction idea seems finnicky from typical Lego construction standards where everything has a true connection point. That said, it's brilliant geometry on display.
Not the greatest. It’s nice and has a cool historical style with lots of interesting techniques. BUT this modular doesn’t really go with the others architecturally. It’s about 50 years behind in style and lego is using too many colors and goofiness while trying to fit 2 buildings into 1 set. You basically lose the size of the pub and hat store.
@ no I don’t have any city modulars. I build only sets for a MOD/MOC Medieval Village. I’ve taken the style of the Medieval Blacksmith and applied and expanded upon it for other buildings. How about you?
@ nice! I had gotten the King’s Castle back then too. Loved having my Black Falcons siege that Castle 😂 that’s a nice first set to get, the Guarded Inn. It never made an appearance under the Christmas tree for me. I had gotten some of the pirates sets too during the same period as you. I’m looking to build some ships for my Medieval Village, caravel style, small ships. I agree that the look of Tudor Corner is very nice, it just doesn’t fit the style and period I’m building unfortunately.
This set had the potential to be great. But then they included a disabled minifig, and that really upset me. Seriously, that takes this one down from 5 stars to only 3 stars in my book, simply because they decided to draw attention to disability. Which for many disabled people, is highly embarrassing and offensive. Most disabled people just want to be rid of their disability, (or defect as I call it), so to draw attention to it will offend many a disabled person. Sorry, but that's just the sad fact of it all. Think about it like this, the Washington Redskins changed their team name and mascot because a small minority claimed it was offensive to Native Americans. Now, that small minority did not include any Native Americans in it, nor did they get the opinions of the majority of the Native American people. So, surprise surprise, it turned out that the native Americans that were supposedly offended by the Reskins logo and name were actually more offended by the decision to remove the name and logo and by the beliefs of the minority of people who had demanded that change. So, the lesson here is as such, don't assume that just because you think someone is offended or not offended by something doesn't actually mean that they aren't. Plain and simple, DEI claims to include more disabled people, but in reality insults them more. By involving disabled people for "diversity" and "inclusion", what you are actually doing is insulting them by only "including" them because of the very defect that they wish to be rid of not their actual skills and merit. This will actually offend the defective far more by including them FOR their disability rather that IN SPITE of it. Nobody wants to be disabled, and drawing attention to it will only serve to enrage, embarrass, and demoralize the disabled community. Oh, and to end off this post with a little piece of historic context, that decal of a disability lanyard? Yeah, that's a Hitler move. Hitler, for all historic purposes, had all the Jews in Germany wear these small star "badges" everywhere they went, and thus labeled them for his vile intent. By making the disabled wear a lanyard, it the exact same thing as Hitler making the Jews wear star badges, it marks the person out as different, and, well, I don't think I should need to remind you all of Hitler's opinion of Jews, so the lanyard means the same thing, a perceived derogatory difference. Sorry RUclips, but historical facts are historical facts and cannot be ignored, just ask the Jews who survived Hitler's vile intent, or worse, ask the disabled who lived under his rule, (if you can find any disabled from his rule. Spoilers, you won't). Rockatoa, a very disappointed in Lego Brickticks out!
I have mixed feelings about this set! On the outside we have 2 separate buildings, but the apartment on the second floor is in both?! Upfront we have a green/orange and then blue/grey, and one apartment is split into those two buildings? Doesn't make any sense. That orange brick I would do either blue as the rest or green as the bottom pub.
yeah yeah dude, you spent your time copying/pasting your comment on all Ytubers reviews comment sections, I think we all see your point now...relax...this is Lego, a toy, not the apartment you live in :D
Have you ever visited places that have buildings that were built hundreds of years ago? This situation can certainly happen in real life. If you want to be less bothered by it then you could make a step in the flooring on the upper floors to show that the heights were not the same in the original buildings and this hasn't been entirely corrected in the renovation. You could also add some extra support struts/braces where the original dividing wall would have been. I think your typical purchaser isn't going to be too worried about this detail. Enjoy the modifications - that's part of Lego.
I don’t like the split buildings. Just make one inn/pub building on first floor then put whatever above it. Lego tries to hard to fit 2 buildings into 1 set and both end up small
@@wile.e.coyote7666 I posted the same answer, because I have the same answer. Why would I bother of rephrasing it? I don't have time for that, I stated my opinion, and that's it, now, move on. And if you wanna discuss then take example from @chriswhite5665 He gave a great critique.

The building is Mock Tudor, not Tudor. That said it is a great looking build and very in-depth review.
That grey flat cap needs to come to pick a brick!!!

Easily my favorite modular visually.
They are battle Droid legs in a new color. I saw it in an interview with the designer.
I wish we got these ideas for other themes. I dont' ahve the space, but this looks like a fun model. Hope it's better than you hope
I'm so looking forward to getting this set. I think it will be a great build. Just not sure how well it fits with the other Modulars in terms of style of building.
Exactly. It’s 50 years behind in style. Most of lego Modular’s are 1920/30 style European frech/german
I wish star Wars has modulars. it'd be fun to build Star Wars buildings.

Some people have bad taste. The idea that the Diner and Assembly Square are comparable, for example, is totally absurd
i still don't get how the black tiles in the tudor sections are hold in place at an angle
I assume it's just with friction, I can't imagine any other method.
My thoughts as well. The friction idea seems finnicky from typical Lego construction standards where everything has a true connection point. That said, it's brilliant geometry on display.
I wish Lego would focus more on outside than inside. Inside is all cramped and incredibly small
Right. They put too many kiddie features on the inside yet the sets are so pricey kids can’t afford them 😂
Smashing. At last, Lego has ventured into an adult themed set. Can't wait to deck out the pub
