I love that you got flowers for your boyfriend. That is such a thoughtful gift. You chose beautiful ones. It is sobering that most men will not get flowers until their funerals.
I really enjoyed the longer vlog and the various locations you filmed in. I vote for you to continue this style. These books are generally not to my taste but it was interesting to hear your thoughts on them.👍🌈
I liked this style of video! I'd read the Ruth Ware book and also didn't like it. I'm probably the only person who doesn't care for Silvia Moreno Garcia (didn't like Mexican Gothic - know I'm in the minority - I think she also wrote Silver Nitrate? Which I DNF'ed). But I'm interested to read Neal Schusterman(sp?) and the first book you covered, about My Year... Thanks for the reviews!
Thank you, great to hear you liked it ☺️ yes, she wrote Silver Nitrate which I yet have to read. My sister also didn’t really like Mexican Gothic, it was too weird for her haha!
I know I've been MIA for a minute, but life got in the way 😊 but I'm back and I'm glad I can start commenting again 💃 I've never read anything from Ruth Ware but I hope to pick up at least one of her books before the end of 2024 I've only read Scythe from Shusterman but I need to finish off the Trilogy. Great reviews and terrific video as usual 🙌
Ahh Kelly Ann so good to hear from you ☺️ thanks so much! I really liked The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware (super fun) and I’ve heard good things about The Death of Mrs. Westaway. Hope you had some good reads lately even if you haven’t been active on booktube❤️
I do like this style video. I would like to see a video where you give authors a third chance. I have read part of The Lover by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. It is the first book of hers I have read. I am very shortly going to start her The Daughter of Doctor Moreau. I haven't read anything from the other authors. Challenger Deep looks especially interesting
Thank you ☺️ I will note that video idea down! I don’t know The Lover but I heard of The Daughter of Doctor Moreau, I believe it is based on an H. G. Wells book?
Thank you so much, appreciate it ☺️ it was actually less work to edit than I thought it would be! It was a challenge for me to remember to film clips though. I might have to find more thrillers set on cruise ships to confirm my theory of not liking them 😂
I gave up on Ruth Ware after three one stars (her earliest, incl. THE WOMAN IN CABIN 10) and my last try with THE DEATH OF MRS. WESTAWAY. She just isn't an author for me and that's fine. Ottessa Moshfegh on the other hand is an author I need to read more from. I also really enjoyed EILEEN back in 2019, so maybe I try MY YEAR OF REST AN RELAXATION next as well. And Silvia Moreno-Garcia is so far a pretty solid author for me. Nothing spectacular, but also nothing that I thought was truly bad. I didn't finish THE BEAUTIFUL ONES though, but this historical romance with a sprinkle of magic just wasn't for me. My favourites so far are MEXICAN GOTHIC and UNTAMED SHORE. 🌈
Oh no, I have hopes for The Death of Mrs. Westaway, I heard it’s one of the best ones - but maybe not haha! There’s also Lapvona by Moshfegh which I want to read as well! Glad you also liked Mexican Gothic :) I’ve never heard of Untamed Shore, I will look it up 😊 thanks for watching & commenting!
Do you think Challenger Deep would be appropriate for a 12-year-old? She's well read but I wonder if the perspective of someone mentally ill can be too confusing/disorientating?
Hello :) Challenger Deep is for sure confusing at first but it is done so on purpose to show the reader what the protagonist is going through! It leaves the reader with compassion and understanding for someone who suffers from a mental illness similar to Caden (the main character). The author wrote this book specifically for the young adult audience, so if a 12-year old is well read, I don’t see a problem with trying this book out :)
Heyyy so I'm a newbie to your channel and enjoyed your video overall. However, when talking about the Ruth Ware book you seemed to get hung up on the mc making bad or lacking choices... while noting that the mc has mental health challenges... why would you think a person with these challenges have no effect on their functioning...
Hello and thanks for watching ☺️ that’s a very fair question! The author makes it very clear that for the first 85ish% of the book, the MC is affected by her alcohol consumption choices & by the small event that happens in the beginning! Nowhere did it say or is implied that her drinking too much or her (in-)actions are a result of her mental health issues. While her mental health only came into play when it was convenient for the plot at the very end when she couldn’t access her meds - tbh to me it felt like a plot device because it wasn’t further explored! Hope this makes sense😅 definitely go for Challenger Deep over Woman in Cabin 10 if you are interested in a story focusing on mental health challenges!
Have you read a book from any of the 4 authors before? 😊
I love that you got flowers for your boyfriend. That is such a thoughtful gift. You chose beautiful ones. It is sobering that most men will not get flowers until their funerals.
Thank you! Next on my list is to treat myself to flowers, I have never done that either! ☺️
@@Nixreads You're welcome. That's a great idea. I may look into that too

Thank you and I really appreciate you watching & commenting even though we don’t 100% share a reading taste!
I’d love to see more reading vlogs 😍🌈
Challenger Deep sounds interesting!
Thank you, I have some planned already ☺️😄

I really enjoyed the style of the video! Too bad that Ruth Fare wasn't that great but the book by Neil Shusterman sounds very interesting :)
He’s such a great writer!
Yes that was a fail 😂
I have only read one series by neal i really enjoyed it and i have read a few books by silvia moreno Garcia

Who knew there were so many stories set on a cruise ship? 😂
This was a fantastic video, but it must’ve taken a lot of work editing.

Ruth Ware for me is sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss, but there have been enough hits for me to keep reading!
Same here so far! I heard great reviews on The Death of Mrs. Westaway, have you read it? I might read that next
