    Beyond all conception and time
From inside the fog you catch glimpses of shadows
Of crowds that are formless but teeming with life
And whispering lips are inviting you past those
Beyond your own fences where freedom is rife
And you sense all the clouds rolling past you
Feel fragrant peace dreams that wait
Cause the new life that’s starting at last now
Is hidden beyond the next gate
But you don’t really dare to go wander
    Discovering pathways unknown
No you would rather stand there and ponder

, Celtic languages influenced both Faroese and Icelandic. There is some debatable evidence of Celtic language place names in the Faroes: for example Mykines and Stóra & Lítla Dímun have been hypothesized to contain Celtic roots. Other examples of early-introduced words of Celtic origin are; "blak/blaðak" (buttermilk) Irish bláthach; "drunnur" (tail-piece of an animal) Irish dronn; "grúkur". Those are examples from wikipedia, that prove that celtic languages do have an influence on faroese

Numen RM. Here is an english translation. Enjoy
BEYOND THE FOG (Original Faroese text by Anker Eli Petersen; English translation by Denise Nolsø)
    Music: Terji Rasmussen
From out of the fog there are steps that keep coming
A dance without music, a dance without words
And thousands of steps in the grayness are humming
But clean is the dew, where the footprints are blurred
And the silence is singing of moments
Of life on the hidden incline
And a dance through the market of omens

Well, its a mix between Icelandic, not sure if danish, but also a mix of some celtic languages, and some of old english, the grammar at least which is also exists in icelandic, im pretty sure so.

@tacorontian They speak their own language, but I believe its heavily influenced by the neighbours like so many other nordic languages.
Exactly how and why you have to ask someone more knowledged then me, but as a swede I can hear at least a couple of influences. From english, danish, icelandic and many others and of course I can actually make out a few words here and there as a swede also despite I think theres really little connection to swedish in itself.

And wait by the gate that’s your own
Again and again now, this dance wants to press you
A dreaming longing is hurting within
And maybe someday you’ll step over the threshold
That’s standing wide open, inviting you in
And deep in the fog now is burning
    The tiniest flickering flame
Lighting your soul now with yearning
    Beckoning, calling your name

@tacorontian They are part of Denmark, but in all senses a selfgoverned country.
The reason I said the language is kinda far from swedish is because I believe they have the least connections to our language among the other nordic countries (apart from Finland which have absolutly no ties at all to the rest of the nordic countries.) They simply have more of Icelandic, Danish and Norweigan than Swedish influences so to speak.

      +Robert W
Úr mjørkanum trína tey aftur og aftur
ein ævigan dans uttan tónleik og orð,
úr gráanum sjóvar frá túsundtals fetum
men døggin er rein - ongar slóðir og spor.
      -Og tøgnin syngur um løtur
      um lívið í loyndari líð
      og ferðir um marknaðar gøtur
ein dans handan fatan og tíð.
Og innan úr mjørkanum hómar tú skuggar
ein liðaleys fjøld dregur lívið at sær,
so lokkandi teskar úr ósæddum varrum
um frælsi á víddunum handan tín garð.
-Og tú slotar mót rekandi skýggjum
      tevjar ein droymandi frið
tí, at lívið sum byrjar av nýggjum
      er fjalt handan nærmasta lið.
-Men tú torir bert ikki at stíga
á gøtur títt eyga ei sær,
tú vilt heldur standa og bíða
      við liðið ið ognaðist tær.
Og dansurin dregur teg aftur og aftur
ein droymandi longsul gerð sár í títt sinn,
og kanska ein dagin tú trínur um liðið
sum víðopið stendur og bjóðar tær inn.
      -Og inni í mjørkanum brennur
      eitt bleiktrandi lítilsvert bál
login, ið gerð at tú kennir
      lívsneistan í tíni sál.

    • @DissectingThoughts
      @DissectingThoughts 4 года назад

www.sprotin.fo is the free online dictionary. You can also check out www.faroeislandstranslate.com
Other than that there aren't that many resources I'm afraid. :/

    • @katchmarik7393

      Check out www.memrise.com/
There are a good number of Faroese lessons there, created by native speakers. The teaching style is repetition, but with varies activities. The system even tracks what words give you difficulty, and brings those up more often until you've "mastered" them. It starts with simple common words, and build up to common phrases within a reasonable number of lessons.

Personally, I think that Faroese is most similar to norwegian. And I am Faroese, so I think I know it slightly better than most of you. Ofc, the language is similar to swedish ,danish and icelandic aswell.

Всё снова и снова из тьмы выплетают
    В безмолвии вечный они хоровод
И тыщи шагов без следа пробегают,
    Прозрачной росой выпадая на лёд.
    О жизни, овеянной тайной
    Беззвучно поёт тишина
    И, в танце кружась, убегает
    Сквозь судьбы, миры, времена.
