Mother wore an ample apron to cover her clean dress. She’d tell you that’s what it was for if you asked her I would guess. But that apron had more uses than I could ever count. It brought in eggs and vegetables and could hold a large amount. I’ve seen her use that apron to wipe her dripping brow as she labored over the big range that’s just an antique now. Her apron could bring giggles in a game of peek-a-boo with her newest sweet grand baby as she hid her face from view. When we kids were hurt or crying we’d run to find her lap. She’d wipe the falling tears away with a bit of apron flap. That apron dusted tables and shooed away the flies. It did just fine as oven mitts to take out bubbling pies. But the greatest of the treasures that old apron could hold, was the endless love of mother abiding in each fold.
SJ... what a tender, loving description of a mother's apron. It touched me deeply... Mothers do so much, - often with so little, often with just an apron. I will keep your description and share it with mothers and daughters I know. Thank you for that.
You’re welcome! My amazing mother always wore an apron growing up. This poem is the perfect description of her. I hope to pass on to my children as many wonderful memories of their mother wearing an apron as I have of mine. ❤️
The moment your son brought you that Lego homage I burst into tears (in the break room over my lunch). Staying home with my children is a goal that I have not yet reached. You and Shaye are such a source of inspiration to me as a wife, mother and homemaker. We just bought ourselves 2.65 acres in Washougal, WA and I can’t wait to build our home and make it beautiful with lots of your wisdom taken to heart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your life with us. The world has been made better for your efforts!
I like the “ intimate” atmosphere! I don’t think creators should feel so much pressure to have the super, bright videos. We enjoy seeing your home the same as we would if we dropped by on a late, fall afternoon!
Your channel is the first you tube one that I ever watched. Being a widow, I live vicariously through your beautiful family. I’m 100% French. I can’t wait for this video. Sunday would be my late husband’s birthday, so this is a contemplative weekend. I’d love to win that apron. Your videos give me something to look forward to.
Having recently discovered your channel I am reminded of my days working in France in the Loire Valley, and Paris. Growing up in the UK we had a half acre garden for growing all our vegetables, berries, root vegetables, enjoying apples from the apple tree. And every summer was spent in Ireland helping on my Aunt's 60 acre farm. I am filled with warm fuzzy memories, watching her bake bread on an old iron cooking range. Watching you is like a visual magazine on my laptop, wonderful content, interesting, uplifting, wonderful ideas of decor. More than this, it reflects how vital it is to be a MOTHER and the importance of being at home to cultivate the skills involved in the art of MOTHERHOOD and Womanhood, so often underestimated today. It is an art. My favorite memories with my ex-husband involve baking bread for the week on Sundays, creating a lovely front garden, baking cookies and cakes for parties and gatherings. Decorating, sewing and designing my own clothes, and updating our furniture. The luxury of those memories, remeniscent of everything I value from my Aunt's, Mother and Grandmother's in creating a home from a house are priceless! Our undervalued female roles, if this is what we most enjoy has often been removed from us. Yet it means everything to create a balanced, clear thinking, intelligent, creative population. In my estimation it's the greatest teaching opportunity, and most enjoyable life experience there is.
I honestly do not understand dislikes on a video like this. Who has time to watch any of it then decide it’s unlikeable? I for one love it!!! Thank you!
Watching you prepare the pie was very relaxing. But, watching your children making their own version of pie was great!! Children are always so enthusiastic when they are allowed to try their hand at making something of their own! Thanks for sharing a small slice of their day with us. It reminds me of the times when my eight year old granddaughter joins me in the kitchen. 🙋🏻♀️👩🏻🌾
Just the thumbnail makes me want to watch. I don’t have my glasses on but your pretty plaid apron,, the smiling eyes, the tiles in the background , the starry flame in the shiny chimney,, the soft glowing apples with their sagey green leaves are all so pretty.
That pie crust hack with the tea towel is GENIUS! I bet it works better than cursing at the pie crust to behave, which is what I usually do. 🙈😂 This video was so, so stunning, Angela! That incredible pie, the cozy, autumnal feeling, every glimmer of the warm copper, it was the perfect ambiance! Just splendid! ♡🥧♡
The clip at the end is a good reminder that producing these videos while juggling being a mom is hard work. Thank you for your persistence, patience, and dedication that gives us these beautiful videos to enjoy.
My kids used to roll out the extra pie crust dough and sprinkle it with left over sugar and cinnamon and bake it. It is another nice little treat. They also used cookie cutters for different shapes. I love your channel and watching your children play and work with you. I am a grandmother of 6 grandchildren and really miss them during this pandemic.
Your son is so adorable. I’m always gardening and one day my son also brought me a lego lady watering her flowers. He made it for me when he was seven years old. He’s thirteen now and I still have my lego gardener lady next to my plants.💕🥰🌺I love all of your videos, your cinematography is impeccable.
What a wonderful, joyful and happy video. Today your life played out like a Lifetime show😀🍁your beautiful and your children so so sweet. The apple pie , please the most amazing pie I have ever seen.loved when the kids did their own pies. Oh the best when your son placed the LEGO on the table, very touching. 💞
Your pie looks beautiful. I was one of 6 growing up and we rolled pie dough scraps, sprinkled them with cinnamon sugar and baked them for a snack. You are making the same kind of memories with your kids and that is wonderful!
Hi there my name is Grace we live in Melbourne Australia I really enjoy watching your channel I love watching your family praying at meal times...so awesome you are not afraid of showing your faith...blessings to all of you...💖
It looks delicious definitely going to try this one out. I can remember my children helping me to bake when they were young. My son often bakes with his four year old daughter. It is so good to see traditions carrying on.xx
I love your kitchen. The pie came out so beautifully. Now I want to make one. Thank you so much for the tip on the use of the tea towel. I had never heard of that before. This video is just gorgeous. I would love to see your county. The orchard land with the barn and the grass in front of the sea... just breathtaking. Now to watch it again. Thank you for sharing your home, family, ideas and love with us all. I check for your new videos all the time and revisit your old ones. You truly know how to make a home inviting, comfortable and beautiful too❤️
Oh my gosh! We have one of those apple peeler, corer things and I didn't know how to use it until now! Wow! I didn't know it did all that! I seriously can't wait to geek out on my apple contraption lol. It's a time saver, man so cool.
My daughters have watched your videos with me since you started. They look forward to them as much as I do! They loved a couple of years ago when your daughter said her favorite color is glitter. And today they laughed and laughed when she said it again!! ❤️❤️❤️ And the legos? Beyond precious. Love his heart and creativity! ❤️❤️❤️
Omgeeee. Fabulous video!!!! Hahaha! I love the out takes! Ok, let's see.....the music. The music is to die for. It is beyond soothing and classy. Just classy. Yes, to vinegar in the pie crust. That was the secret ingredient in my family, too. Apple trees!! A silo!!! My heart!!!! We made the very same pie only called it "French Apple Pie" back home. Depending on your mood, or what was in stock in the house, we could have vanilla ice cream, whipped cream topping and or a slice or two of New York State Sharp Cheddar cheese along with the pie. So yummy. I embellish every pie crust I make, too. Gotta. It's like a blank canvas. I was kinda grumpy and over this day, but now I'm happy with pie memories, seeing your kiddos and the beautiful music I was able to hear. Thanks, Angela!!! XO
Aw! all those little fingers in the pie(s)! Wish I cold have reached through the screen and snatched a piece of that steamy hot pie straight from the oven. I have your cookbook and an apple orchard in town...guess what I will be doing tomorrow? I will be reading your cookbook and my hubs will bake the pie. I tell him his pies are "way better" than mine - and he cleans up too. Oh...and the music was mesmerizing. Great video.
Great and delicious looking pie❣️. The kids are so adorable making their little pies ❤️❤️. Love your videos so much. Thank you. Good Bless your family!! 🙏🏻
Just found this video .. it is wonderful.. I enjoyed the tone and mood of this video.. the pie is GORGEOUS!! The kids at the end made my heart smile!! I wish our world and the ones spreading hate could come and watch this video and enjoy life and family and God.. that peace could win and Love could win.. thank you for this lovely video 🍁🙏🏻❤️
I have the exact same apple peelers (got 2!)...you can disengage the 'peeler' blade,...and keep the peel 'on' for cakes, pies, etc...gives nice color....and I believe nutrients are in the peel as well?...so you end up with the same slices,...but with the peel intact!
My family doesn’t use shortening or lard, so I use butter in my pie crust. I never thought of using a tea towel, but discovered pastry clothes as an adult, and it’s made rolling dough much easier. Love your videos, they are beautiful!
The pie looks delicious! But, my favorite part was the very end when your daughter tells you to "stand up straight, look happy, you have not been doing this for two hours!" LOL! 😆 She is quite the director!
My pie is very similar. I use a bit of nutmeg. I’m 71 and made so many pies over the years that I don’t measure anymore. Looks delicious! It’s a Thanksgiving must, along with the pumpkin.
So nice to see you using cloth to roll your dough! My mom, grandma and Gr. Grandma always used cloth or tea towels! I just picked some apples here in PA. Your pie looks so delicious, I'm going to give it a try! I love seeing the children enjoying themselves in the kitchen! So sweet of your son to make a Lego model of you baking! Love it!
Your pie looked absolutely delicious! And your kitchen so cozy an friendly, but the part that put a big smile on my face was when the children joined 🥰
Love everything about this video! Love the pie recipe! To see the excitement in your children's faces and voices melts my heart! Thank you for sharing. ❤
That lego your son made for you truly touched my heart💕 My son did something similar for me as a birthday present. He went on BrickLink and ordered special pieces to make a mini figure of me and my father, who had passed away. It meant the world to me, as my son knows how deeply I miss my dad. I will look forward to trying this recipe! I even have my moms apple peeler like yours lol :) Thank you for sharing
Just wanted to note... there is a little lever below the spring on your Apple peeler, it lets you set the apple right against the blade so you spend less time cranking. ☺️ loved the mossy lighting. A fun change and much appreciated with the turning weather.
It's true the "Dutch Apple Pie" is wonderful, for Summer with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and in Fall and Winter with a delicious cup of tea or coffee! Greetings from The Netherlands! 🍎
I love the whole vibe of this video!!! The colors, the music, the part where your son brings in the lego creation (tears!)! Keep up the magnificent work!
Just what i needed. Sat down after clearing the garden for pots and decor, expecting the first heavy snowfall of the season this Tuesday. Housechores, dinner, walking the dogs, and here you serve a delicious video, calm and serene, and that apple pai! Love the kitchen, and that you use the old kitchenware, not only for display. 👍 Have to make some applepie too. Will look for your cookbook. What can you use other than lard (?) Can I use butter? We dont have lard here in Norway 😊 Not buttermilk either, if your recipes call for that. Thank you for your hard work with the video, really enjoyed it!
Looks absolutely gorgeous and delicious!! I love how you share your kids in it. Warms my heart. They’re precious. Loved this video. 🥰 So beautiful to watch.
Iam dutch many of times made Dutch Apple Pie but your version is a new one for me.Mine has some lace pastry over the top.Apples some raisins, grated lemon skin,cinnamon.Hmmmm.
Love the opening of your videos with you and Joel dancing all dressed up. It’s very romantic. Love this recipe and the children when they got to create their own creations...magical!✨🌸💕
That has to be the most beautiful apple pie I have ever seen in my life! Wow!! And I absolutely love the lego mini figurine set up, lol. So adorable!! It made my heart smile. :)
Look forward to your youtube videos and podcast posts! Always listen to them when doing the pig, sheep and chicken chores. Thank you from a fellow Wisconsinite!!
U have a large beautiful place! I know there has to be a lot of work in keeping ur homestead running and pristine, but u always manage to make these labours easy and fun !
What a beautiful video Angela!! And I love seeing your kiddos join in on the fun :-) My 4 year old daughter joins in as much as she can! Thank you for being such a joy to watch and a HUGE inspiration!!
I have systematically been collecting copper molds. Can’t wait for the fun day I can do a collage on my wall. Love this look. Thanks fir the inspiration.
Ahhhhhh.....that's what those little cutters are for. I sold some of them on Ebay last year. Thought they were so cute, but didn't know what I'd use them for. The leaf shapes look fantastic on the pie! Loved to see the excitement of your children as they had a chance to get creative in the kitchen as well. I bet your house smelled A*M*A*Z*I*N*G!!!
Its a perfect fall day here in South Texas and I'm savoring every moment of it. We don't often get true fall days here but I try to delight in each attribute that fall brings.
Awww Angela this was so lovely, beautifully filmed and the kids at the end, creating theirs adorable... sorry to have missed the premiere🍎the 16th is our 38th anniversary plus 7 yrs together before, 45 yrs together. Met at age 15. Bless our Father Who did this🍃❤🍃 loved your intro♡ Sweet apron giveaway... bless you all, thank you for this wonderful family video and great fresh apple pie recipe, yumminess🍎 be well♡
Oh the Lego structure towards the end was too much!! I love it! And girl, I've learned to do it by hand too because I had to do without. And, it's all good. Works just as well!😄 Loved the outtakes at the end!
Angela 🍏🍎 your kitchen looks so inviting & you're looking fresh for the task. I've never seen a device/tool like that for the apples😀 Interesting how so many things that are older are becoming new again 🤗 Ta ta❣️
I love the towel trick!! Genius! I also love 2 things a lot. 1. You use your decor.. love love love it! I use mine too! 😂❤ and 2. Your children creating too. ❤ life skills.
Love this one. I had never used a tea towel for rolling. I should've thought of it, because it's the secret to rolling the pumpkin or jelly roll. Thanks for a calm and wonderful tutorial.
Yall seem as old friends to us here. We love the videos, podcast, and the "companionship" of your voice while working in the kitchen. Love the ambiance in this video too, nice and cozy, and the kids making their pies! We will be making this soon and using the Mason jar lids!! Brilliant! And yes, we have 5 gallons going of the ACV from a bushel of apples! Love how nothing goes to waste :) Much love and blessing to you and yours!
I watched the video last night when I got home from work...I so enjoyed it..I love an amazing pie recipe, only problem...I then wanted to bake a pie...lol...1 am is not ideal pie baking time. Thank you for the inspiration!!🥰

Such a beautiful poem, and so true. I could picture every verse in my mind! ❤

The absolute best cinematography on RUclips I have seen. Thanks Angella for your wonderful job making this beautiful video.
Hello from the Czech Republic. I love your videos. I can't wait to try to bake the pie tomorrow.
What a beautiful pie, but most of all I loved watching your children. You are a great mother.

That has to be the most beautiful apple pie I have ever seen in my life! Wow!! And I absolutely love the lego mini figurine set up, lol. So adorable!! It made my heart smile. :)
You’re a delight. The LEGO part was my favorite 🥰
Delicous looking pie! Your children are the cutest!!

Loved the video and music. The country scenery was stunning.
I ❤️ the cinnamon fingernails and LEGO embellishments! 👩🏻🍳🤗
I have systematically been collecting copper molds. Can’t wait for the fun day I can do a collage on my wall. Love this look. Thanks fir the inspiration.
Wow the music matched perfectly with what you were doing! Beautifully done

Oh the Lego structure towards the end was too much!! I love it! And girl, I've learned to do it by hand too because I had to do without. And, it's all good. Works just as well!😄 Loved the outtakes at the end!
OMG now I'm craving pie!!! Great video Angela. Une bonne tarte aux pommes!!!
Angela 🍏🍎 your kitchen looks so inviting & you're looking fresh for the task. I've never seen a device/tool like that for the apples😀 Interesting how so many things that are older are becoming new again 🤗 Ta ta❣️
I have two of those apple peelers...got mine at HomeSense, SuperStore...Zellers, Walmart, etc...they are pretty easy to find now, in the fall...
