Reading the comments I notice a lot of people tried and tried to save that paratrooper but was in vain due to it being scripted. It may be a small scripted event but I think it sums up war and actually has a deeper meaning in life, you will be presented with situations that you have no control over and no matter how hard you try you are simply powerless to stop or change them. You will play the same event over and over in your head trying to find what you could've done differently but it only causes more pain. You have to move on...

It made me so angry and sad at the same time and this music kept playing throughout the game. That was the first time that I realized that war isn't fun or romantic. It only brings misery to people...

padvinder8 I read on the Wiki that there is a glitch where you can actually save him but it requires the rubber grenade cheat and you have to be very accurate with the throw, because the enemy is actually underground where the bullets spawn covered by the thick trees, and if you’re lucky enough you can hit him. And the Private will just stay there stuck trying to cut off the parachute. He’s not entirely scripted

NEW YORK SPORTS FAN Basically you were the only villager’s hope to be saved from the torment of the Nazi’s wrath. One Airborne squad discovered what Germans really do to the Jews. If you read the Holocaust, you’d understand the whole thing about this level. How men were forced to treat Germans as their masters. How Germans laughed at the Jews falling to pieces. Breaking... now I wasn’t born on any of the World Wars however. But I could tell that the times were rough back then. I could tell they had to witness families and friends being torn apart from what they once had. In all words... I am glad Adolf Hitler killed himself, I am glad that his sorry little brain splattered all over the floor. And I’m sure our own allies did too, our own U.S Citizens, the Holocaust survivors, and the U.S Airborne troops. After witnessing what they actually do to Jews. I bet these Airborne troops were heartbroken by this discovery, wishing they could’ve been at the right time, at the right place. To stop the Jews from being executed in those horrible Concentration Camps. That kind of stuff hits way back home, some events made the Paratroopers so angry, that they committed they’re own war crimes against Nazi Germany without their General knowing.

    My letter to you.
Life was different then. We stayed up later then we should have to play Medal of Honor on our playstation or xbox. We didnt worrying about bills, car repairs, house maintenance, wars, or our health.
We spent long weekends playing outside you and I. Soldiers and nurses, tag and hide-and-seek.
Cartoon network greeted us after school and we watched Tom and Jerry followed by some Dragon Ball Z.
    Do you remember?
Remember that time we skipped class and had to forge moms signature on the pink slip?
    Yeah I remember.
Remember getting shy while presenting because she was sitting there front row, watching attentively. You tried to make me laugh and mess up. Yeah...
    I remember.
Remember the time we made up excuses for why we needed another day for our homework assignment? My dog ate it - I swear!
    I remember.
Remember the lunchables and froot rollups we shared? The cafeteria shenanigans with our friends?
    I remember.
We both got detention that day - mom wasn't happy.
I won't forget napping on the bus in the morning because the time changed and it was dark and foggy outside.
We went through a lot, you and I.
We didn't care for anything beyond our home, friends, games and comics, just the moment ahead and each other.
    No filthy politics.
    No hearts full of hate.
No heart breaking wars or diseases.
    No fear.
    No social media.
Just living life and dreaming of being a lawyer, a doctor, an astronaut. Being someone in this life.
A lot has changed since then. Dad is no longer with us and Mom isn't doing very well. I heard you have a baby now. I'm so happy for you.
What I wouldn't give to go back for just a day as a kid, to see my family again, my old friends.
To experience one more day with you - dear reader.
If you're still here and reading my ramblings... Maybe it's been 30 years now?
Know that I'm thinking about you.
Wherever you are, whatever you are going through, no matter how difficult it is, you are not alone.
Regardless of our differences, our views, our colors, or anything else, know this:
    I love you.
Until the day I pass, I will always love you.

I think we all come here to remember this mission and of course, because the song is amazing. But the feels that we get, the emotion and the nostalgia is what this game gave us.
As a MOH fan, this is one of my favorite missions. Because its not just about shooting and clearing the level. Its about the atmosphere that we get deep into it: The soldier that gets shot and you cant save him, the shaking granny, nazi soldiers killing people, its not even sunny, its cloudy and that makes it very sad also.
I come here once in a while to listen this masterpiece that Giacchino gave us, and to remember that this is one of our favorite games of all time.

I grew up with this game and this level always used to make me really sad. The amazing music captures the atmosphere of this level greatly and when you find the old lady shaking with the broom it always made me cry as a kid. Also at the beginning of the level where the guy gets caught in the windmill than gets shot made me cry as well. It still makes me a bit sad whenever i go and play this level again.

You could never tell this was made for a video game, and yet it captures the tragedy of war perfectly. I'm surprised by how many people have come back to listen to this. We must've been really moved by experiencing that level as kids. I didn't pay too much attention back then, but wow at how heart wrenching this piece is

I remember watching one of my sisters playing through the whole game when I was a kid. The OST struck me so much. My sister eventually got me a CD. I kept listening to the main menu track, this one, and Arnhem Knights. 15 years later and I still find these as moving and powerful as they were.

It’s so weird seeing all these similar experiences everyone seemed to have had. Just goes to tell you how good of a game and soundtrack this was. This is something that’s been ingrained in our heads for a long time, that’s really meaningful. I think I was 9 when I first played this game. I knew what D-Day, WW2, and all that was. In fact I think at this point in my life I had already seen saving private Ryan with my uncle. Parents weren’t too happy about that lol. But that stuck paratrooper really fucked me up as a 9 year old. I didn’t know what a scripted event was, and I tired, tried, and tried to save him. I think when I realized I couldn’t I just cried and I tried to walk past that windmill without looking or listening to him. And I was SO angry and those Germans that were right around the corner. I always made sure I saved that other airborne trooper from the mortars and as many Brits as I could in Arnhem. I’m 25 and have been in the army for 4 years now, hearing this OST just makes me sad now

And the Private will just stay there stuck trying to cut off the parachute. He’s not entirely scripted

This game was a REAL masterpiece for the time he got released... What happened to "new gen" MOH.. Kinda hard to keep up inovating while competing with others big studios like DICE (Battlefield series) and Activision (Call of Duty series). But one thing is certain, none of theses "modern FPS game studios" would be so good if not by old EA MOH development (ps1 and ps2).

I have a saying "Times of war creates heroes, and times of peace creates cowards", even though war-time involves heavy losses of life, it also creates true patriots that are willing to go above and beyond to defend their country. While in peace-time people become ungrateful and ignorant to all the sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom.
