I noticed the pickle ornament on the tree! My MIL, whose parents were German, bought us a pickle ornament when we had our first child. We always had two because we didn’t want to make anyone sad on Christmas… because one didn’t find it 😊
For our cats I got a motion activated device that just sprays air. They did not like it at all! After the first year of using it, they never bothered the tree again.
Start a tradition and buy your babies an ornament or decoration every year, put the date on it. When they get married, gift them their tote of memories ♥️
Each person in my family gets one new ornament every year selected to fit each of our personalities or interests that year, and we put our names and the year on every one

I started this 28 years ago when my son was born and my daughter 24. As they got older the ornaments were based on their interests and hobbies. We’ve added her fiancé to the list now. I will gift for their first Christmas after they get married

My mom and I would go to Christmas Bazaars & Christmas Festivals @ schools, fire houses, first aid houses, churches & flea markets and buy handmade ornaments & bring them home and date them, hang them on the tree when it goes up. It’s been 42 years since my daughter was born (1981) and we still buy ornaments every year for her and her husbands tree. It’s such fun. The whole tree is loaded with nothing but homemade ornaments.
On your babies first xmas write on the back bubs name and year so all the kids you have you can their own one.

We always got a Christmas tree for our daughter for her bedroom. It started with a little tree from five below and dollar tree ornaments . Now she’s almost 21 and has a full size Christmas tree in her room. Every few years she’s changes her tree theme. Around her teenaged years she decided to decorate her entire bedroom for Christmas. She has a Christmas comforter and mini lights and pillows. I swear she can put pictures of her room in a magazine. She love’s Christmas. She looks forward to it every year. I know she will do this with her babies one day. I pray I’m here to see it!
Our tradition with our children during Christmas was a tabletop Advent wreath. The middle candle is the candle representing Christ. We would read devotionals suited for the whole family four weeks out leading up to Christmas and we would light candles 1 through 4 each week and light the last one representing Christ on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. We also had a birthday cake for Jesus!

The first year we got married, we came home and the cat had dragged the whole tree down to the ground. In putting it back up, we didn't hang any ornaments on the bottom branches that helped. About the trash, we have racoons and opossums out back who love the trash, so we put bungee cords on the lids, to keep the lids down. For your manger scene, you may want to try Blue Tack.. it’s like sticky putty, and you can stick them to whatever,but it won’t hurt your furniture. That’s what I do with mine, so my cats don’t knock them over. And you can reuse the Blue Tack. You just pull off pieces and stick at the bottom of each piece and it’s stays. Hope that helps!! ♥️♥️♥️
Yes! Agree! That stuff is awesome! I also use it on the corner of pictures on the wall… to keep them straight.
@@hardysfan316yes!! I used it to hang those cut out bats for Halloween on my one wall.… it didn’t take the paint off or damage any walls! That’s a great idea to put it on pictures to keep them straight! I’ll be doing that today! Thank you for posting that! Such a great idea!! ❤❤
Baby Ryker is so cute he looks just like Trace and Trace's Dad....You can get baby's first Christmas ornament and then get him one every year for the tree..
He is a beautiful baby it looks so pretty in there I kept the cats out the tree with a spray bottle every time they would get into my tree I always spray them

It Happened on 5th Avenue is one of the best movies ever!! I can’t wait to watch it this year. It will be bittersweet, because I lost my sweet Mom one year ago tomorrow, 11/19. I have always let each one of my children pick out an ornament for the tree each year , I did the first year or two. When they got married and moved out they had a good collection of different ornaments. Very eclectic pieces too. But a lot of memories. I also would get one too. Because when each child left with their ornaments my tree would get more sparce. At the same time we would have so many when they were older almost every branch was full 😊
We always anchored our trees to a wall with eye hooks and wire. We had 2 kids, 2 dogs and 1 cat. That way if they knocked into it, it could not fall down! You could anchor yours to the window frames. Use fishing line so it doesn’t show.
This method is also recommended for chest of drawers or hutches, anything that’s too heavy.

One tradition my mom did with my brother & me was to have our own little tree to decorate in our bedrooms. I’ve continued that tradition with my children & they enjoy it so much. We love to watch Christmas movies together every year, & we try to designate one night to ride around to look at Christmas lights. My birthday is in December, so I try to make that part of my birthday celebrations. There are lots of things we’ve done to celebrate through the years, but these are the things we always do, no matter what.
My parents still do that’s my Christmas present when I need another one😅
I do this with my girls. They look forward to it every year! We got "my little christmas" decorations from Hobby Lobby. They are so cute

One of our favorite traditions was wrapping 24 Christmas books which I kept in a basket by the tree. On December 1st, my daughter would chose a book and it would be her bedtime story for the night. It was so much fun and promoted a love for reading, which I loved. It is like a book advent calendar. Ryker is too young for this right now, but this might be the perfect time to start searching for books so you are ready for the future. We used all kinds of Christmas books, books about Jesus' bith and silly books too. My daughter got married this year and I have the books ready for her if/when you has a baby. Have fun with Ryker, it flies by so fast.

We had 2 cats that climbed up our Christmas tree and knocked it down. Our boys were outside waiting for me to get home from work to break the news to me. We put the tree back up and cleaned up all the broken German ornaments they broke. Then I took Fishing line and cup hooks and ran the line through the tree and they never knocked it down ever again. We would hook the tree with fishing line every year.

We have four cats, and they all love climbing trees. We either use a flyswatter, or a spray bottle.

Try citrus sprays on just the bottom of the tree , you can make your own with water and sqeeze any citrus in it , or just put slices around the bottom branches..🍋🍊
I have also heard of using citronella spray on bottom branches...

Love the tree! So pretty!! If you're looking to add white, snow looking something to your greenery...... Just take it outside and lightly paint the ends of the greenery. If you want the white paint to be shiney, add white fine glitter to where you painted before the paint drys. It's a very inexpensive diy project. Comes out great!

I love how it all turned out. Putting the nativity set up and with the lights and garland is so pretty. You guys did a great job. We did the tradition of getting our kids a new ornament each year. I started an ornament collection with my son when he was a baby. I got him 2 ornaments every year. He's 22 now. When he moves out, he will have his entire collection to take with him for him in his home.

Ryker is growing so much. Handsome young baby. Your decorations throughout your home is beautiful. When my son was little I always put a small tree up in his room. Just went on top of the dresser. Always someone had made him a pillowcase that they painted that had snowmen on it with a verse that said something about when you sleep on this your wishes come true. Can’t remember food sure. But he slept on this throughout the month of December. He is 26 now. I love all your videos. They keep getting better. Please get some videos of Tori and her family at Thanksgiving. I miss seeing her.
