Although I was only 4 years old in 1966, I distinctly remember WXYZ-AM in Detroit (which was then an ABC owned-and-operated station) would play those ABC Radio news sounders heard from 0:01 to 0:40. Every time I hear "Summer Samba" by Walter Wanderly when that song's over it makes me think the ABC News would be next, since they played that record a few times before the news started (my folks would listen to WXYZ-AM on their big GE console stereo). Anybody remember WXYZ's catch-phrase from back then ("Personality Plus")?....
