This weekend im getting my son to plant my potatoes and my peas. I do think that this happened for a reason because I am reminded to appreciate everyone and everything and to help and support others!!

Start making things easier in the future . Nobody's getting any younger ! Realistically can't do all that physical stuff on the property so on . It's just too much work. ✅Retirements is about relaxing ! FYI!
Steve, if you live alone get an emergency alarm necklace, wear and use it. A cellphone cannot be used easily after an accident. It is mjust common sense even for those much younger. Risking being unable to feed the dog is cruel. Hope you heal well and fins ways to "enjoy" your break from some chores.
Hi Steve , Get well soon,(Now we got that out of the way... LOL) You Got lucky... I've been sitting at home with a spine injury (neck)... Can't walk around (and when I do it at a snails pace.. So nothing is jolted) Had To Buy a Office Chair to support my neck... One use to laugh a injury off ( just celebrated my 57th, 2 days ago and fear getting to your age... LoL) But from one injured person to the other I'd trade mine for yours if I could .... I want to take a long walk again.. Also be glad you could get treatment so fast... I live here in Germany (but I'm American(another story for later.. )) all treatment is back logged for months, I have my health Insurance looking for Appointments (by German law they have to pay my wage after 6 weeks of sickness ( so you know they are trying their best to get me an appointment..It been 3 weeks now, still nothing...) You got lucky, Take care, I enjoy watching someone of like mind...
Hey houndog, I hope you are heading in the right direction now that your healing can commence. I was living off grid in the 80's and had to sometimes replace a diesel generator head gasket using a long pipe extender to loosen the head bolts, my hands were covered in grease and at the wrong moment the pipe extender on the spanner flipped off crushing my thumb and splitting it open. I kept my cool and decided that I had to disinfect the thumb split, but to achieve that I had to clean off the grease first. The best way I could do that quickly was to wash the split thumb in a jar of gasoline. OUCH! but it worked and I could then dip the thumb in disinfectant, double ouch!! The adventures of living off grid, alone. Ya gotta' laugh. And as always "stay cool houndog"
People always abuse this sort of system, since it came into existence in Australia every man and his dog goes to the doctor for AnNYTHING. Now it is the biggest burden on the tax payer.
Had a relative who worked in the medical field, they said the same thing. The one's who abused it the most were recently arrived immigrants. If they had a common cold wanted their entire family to get examined. People go to socialist country's to exploit them, not to embrace it.
People don't realize that rest and sleeping are two different things, in our constant "GO, GO, GO! Work, Work, Work!" world people cannot sit and rest/relax. The problem is Steve is alone, no way for him to rest, this is where family, community plays a big role. Lone wolf survivor is interesting for hollywood, but in real world conditions its extremely difficult.
Steve, you can get a nurse to come and assist with home care, you have to ask for it just like everything in this country. They want us to beg for services that we paid for with our taxes while politicians have their own private doctors. I know this first hand. Speak to your doctor and tell him that you're going to require help with and give him examples. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I hope the surgery wasn't done by the wong king at PRHC ...if it was you will be in worse shape then when you started ...my left hand is now virtually useless ...
