Rayman 3, actually, was the first game I've ever played, I'd never forget how it felt to visit The Fairy Council lake for the first time. This game in entirely holds a very significant intimate place in my heart. So, yeah, I completely get your feelings about this game and all these locations, even Hoodlum Headquarters)
That sounds like a curse and a blessing. A blessing because your first game being such a good one must be a great experience, getting into a new hobby and just getting straight into the good stuff... on the other hand it must be a curse since you mustve been dissapointed by many other games youve played after it
My first Rayman game was Rayman Legends demo on PS3 the game was so cool and the osts were legendry! Then i played most Rayman games they were pretty fun but Rayman Legends is the best for me with no match EDIT:Then we got Rayman Legends full game on PS4 and it was one of my best games EVER
Thank you so much for posting this! Rayman 3 is by far my favourite game of all time and I always feel it gets ignored or put aside. The atmosphere and designs and ideas are all just so incredible it makes me go crazy when its overlooked- so when I saw your video reccomended I was like FINALLY!
I never agreed with a RUclips video more. The levels are incredible, the bosses are executed well (except some parts) and oh my god, the music! Rayman 3 is the game of my childhood, I played it for the first with my older brother and I had so much fun watching him play. This game might even be the first game I ever played. I have so many good memories with it. Desert of the Knaaren gives me goosebumps to this day, I was just a child and they caused me a life-long trauma 😭. Also, great video, really enjoyed it!
The story of how you got Rayman 3... So beautiful. Your mom just *knew* she had to give it to you because of how much you loved Rayman 2. It's adorable! And I think I do agree with most of your opinions on the levels too!
I think there are no hoodlums in Razoff's mansion because he chased them all out. He's one of the few non-hoodlum related enemy, like Janos from RayMan 2.
Hey man, Ive been watching you since your first vid! I remember you said you didnt have alot of time to make videos, but look at you! Posting! Great video! Rayman 3 is one of my favs
i really like your takes in all the levels, hurt my heart a bit to hear you didnt enjoy the bog of murk and clearleaf forest as much as the others but love the praise on hoodlum headquarters.... my experience honestly was my family bringing a ps1 with rayman 1, crying and running away whenever rayman appeared on screen to then come to love him in 2, but 3 is definitely by the compelling world design, and the ''comedy'' of course. i love your videos honestly, coming from a veteran in the rayman community
Also, another point about the desert of the Knaaren. It is the first time the Rayman series gets actually scary, but still in a way that it doesn't tap into a different target audience. It still remains a game mainly targeted at children. Many games get more edgy and are great in later installments, and they target the once kids now teenagers, which is good, but there's something about making the game scarier without losing sight of that initial target audience. The only thing that comes close in the series is the Dark Rayman chase scenes in Rayman 1, but they're moreso adrenaline and stress inducing than scary.
Rayman 2 was my first game, but Rayman 3 came pretty much right after because I played the former in the year 2003 when 3 was already out. It's crazy to me how vastly different these games are as 3D platformers, yet how amazing they both manage to be. Rayman 3 especially nailed combat in an era where practically every other beat-'em-up style game dropped the ball hard and it didn't have to sacrifice any other aspect in its gameplay in the process. Huge kudos
Bog of Murk was definately not finished. According to the Begoniax entry on RayWiki there is a whole lot of story missing about Begoniax (the witch) trying to create a potion to make herself beautiful. After you defeat Razoff he cries on some of these creatures he had captured and they turn into butterflies, so Begoniax realizes that the missing ingredient for the potion were Razoffs tears. They get together and in turn help you get to the land of the livid dead. Also Ssssam was supposed to appear after you defeated Begoniax but it all got left out due to budget limitations.
@@tabalugadragon3555 It would be cool if they added that. Tbf tho, in the original script they would've traveled with a Wooglah (like a big bird), instead of having the disco sections. The Wooglah then gets injured when flying over the bog of Murk and Rayman strikes a deal with Begoniax to bring her the beauty elixir for her to heal the Wooglah.
32:37 I do have memories about that. • In 2013 my senior bro downladed me Rayman Origins & RRR on a PC. But, i wasn't really amazed by those game, like i was with Valiant Hearts, Castle of Illusion etc. Only after I've played Legends my interests have sprouted to this series. I specifically remember when my eyes've peeped on Fiesta de los Muertos painting & when I've been playing „Back to Origins", messing with piano tiles in Didgeridoo desert. • Also I've never played Rayman 3 but I've played a lot of Hobbit 2003 game. Funny enough this game & Rayman 3 do share some similarities with each other. • All-in-all i do wish to play Rayman 3 someday. The way you led the viewer into the world of this game is very exciting.
NGL I agreed with almost all your rankings I was hoping you would appreciate the land of the living dead as much as I did so I was happy when you immediately put in in S tier lmao (that tower was my wallpaper as a kid). I had a similar experience with buying the game. I was 6 years old and it was a random afternoon me and mum were in a multimedia outlet shop and they had this game for the PC. I just liked the cover for it so my mum bought it for me. I had all the same experiences, from getting nightmares from the knarren levels to wishing to live in some of the worlds. Glad to see some people share my nostalgia :)
The machine boss is often misunderstood. The harder (charged up) you hit it, the longer it stays up before dropping. If you time it well, you can literally just stand still and jump and shoot on rythm.
Great Video! I would largely agree with most of the rankings. Although it seems we differ quite a lot on the Bog of Murk. The whimsy, worldbuilding, the music, the bosses and larger puzzle focus over platforming makes it a welcomed change. Its A tier at the absolute least to me, but i respect why you personally put it where you did.
My (full) acquaintance with Rayman happened in 2010 through a RUclips channel called Coop4Fcuk. I immediately fell in love with the third Rayman as soon as I saw the first episode of the playthrough, and then it went from there. Rayman Origins, Legends, mobile games, the second part, the first, portables, rabbits… I am immensely pleased that that fall night I didn’t go to bed and started watching this series. One of my favorite series of video games, my favorite game character and so on... My favorite level from the third Rayman is the Swamp, or the Land of the Living Dead. The least favourite location is probably the Hoodloom’s Factory.
completely agree with every ranking also getting chills hearing the soundtrack and seeing some of the visuals again i haven't touched this game in for almost a decade because im scared it will lose its allure to me and i've been waiting for a remaster to play it again, pleases me to see that you seemingly play it regularly and still have as much love for it. i reallly cant wait for this remaster really wish more games had this atmosphere and aesthetic man
It was such a fun video to watch, always play this game with a good friend of mine, we also used to play it as kids. I would also love a vid for Rayman 2 ranking.
Had to stop the vid 17 mins in to not spoil myself, but I totally agree with your thoughts so far. I'm glad I'm not the only one who tore my hair out in that mansion bossifight with the gun dude lmao
I remember they handed out demo's to rayman 3 at our local supermarket. I think I played that disc over 30 times before my dad gifted me the full game on a random weekday after school. One of my most fond memories for sure :) I loved rayman 3 a hell of a lot and was devastated after the rabbits took over the franchise >:(
I was fully agreeing until you got to the Tower of Leptys. That level screams, with all its being "this is the end". We even get the longest level in the game so far that feels endless. One mistake and you gotta restart. That purple lightning hitting through the windows, just pure epicness. The flight on the hovercraft with Globox also felt both refreshing and allowed us to take a breather before the final fight. I also can't agree with the final boss fight with Reflux. It was challenging *because* it was nothing like the mechanics we're used to. It was supposed to be hard, and it was. The music was also perfect. It spoke "the finale" flawlessly.
I remember that I've played Rayman 2 at my friends place and I was immediately hooked! Escaping the ship was fun and being in a mysterieus wonder world was for me exciting. My friend had also Rayman 1, but we both got stuck at the second music level. After a couple of years, I saw Rayman 3 in the shelves and how I love this game. Still mad at ubisoft after they ignored ' See you in Rayman 4' quote. And yeay, I got also scared at the Desert of the Knaaren. I was 8 or 9 and after 3 years I picked the game up and finished it. Oh yeay, I got also Rayman M........mehh. Oh and also Rayman Origin and Legends were fun, but still wasn't the same feeling as the trilogy. The DLC for mario + rabbids was fun, many throwbacks to the original trilogy. But yeay still waiting for Rayman 4
I really enjoyed everything you had to say about everything here, great video. As someone who hasn't played this game in approaching 2 decades, I am going purely off the childhood memories of these levels; if I ever get a chance to replay the game now, I'd form a better opinion of it all. But because I can't, my person ranks (based on how I remember feeling playing these levels) are: 🥇 *Land of the Livid Dead* - 100% agree, best OST and level in the game 🥈 *Clearleaf Forest* - going to be honest, this one has heavy nostalgia goggles for me for family reasons, but I still love it all the same 🥉 *Desert of the Kanaraan* - never needed help with this one, but the pace change as well as the soundtrack's shift to a more menacing and almost oppressive feel sold it for me as such a terrifying level 4⃣ *Fairy Council* - great opener to the game, and the Teensie Highway was the one part of the OST that stuck with me even before getting reintroduced to the game in my adulthood 5⃣ *Longest Shortcut* - I was Globox when I played through this one: "why is it taking so long?!" I enjoyed it, but I was expecting it to be quicker. I was a fool 6⃣ *Bog of Murk* - one of the only levels I remember finding one of the secret rooms in as a kid 7⃣ *Tower of Leptis* - was a challenge to make it through, and I recall enjoying the Reflux fight 8⃣ *Summit Beyond the Clouds* - atmospherically breathtaking, but I have no real memories of this level positive or negative 9⃣ *Hoodlum Headquarters* - I just remember getting very frustrated at this level, but other than that I can't remember much about it, so it goes to the end on the grounds of having slightly more negative feelings attached to it over 'Summit' 1&2 would be my S-Tier; 3&4 my A-Tier; B-Tier is 5&6, maybe an argument for 7 in there too; but 8&9 for certain would be my C-Tier levels Again, if I ever get a chance to replay the game now, I'd go into it with an eye to be more critical and think about the levels with a more adult mind over "this level fun, this level not" black and white thinking of my childhood self
rayman 3 is becoming my most replayed rayman game as well as game period, honestly I love the game and all the levels because they all have this cartoony but beautiful feel to them, I do favor the ones that focus more on combat since I personally think rayman 3 has some of the best and unique combat I've ever seen in a game, although I really do wish there was more to summit beyond the clouds I love it a lot and wish it stayed its welcome a bit longer.
Honestly, hearing you talk about how found you are of Rayman 3, reminds me of how much I adore origins. And to be honest, I got to play origins on complete accident. My first Rayman game "technically" was Rayman Jungle Run, I used to play it on my dad's iPad. And one day for my birthday he wanted to order a Rayman game for me, so I picked Legends, but it wasn't in stock for the Psvita at the time, so, he bought me origins instead, and that may have been the best decision he ever made. I love that game till death and have played it countless times, on the other hand with Rayman 3, which I started playing a year ago, but my PC broke down, so im still waiting for the new parts to arrive but until then the rankings seem fair to what I've played.
I remember clearly first time I was introduced to the Rayman franchise was from my brother randomly picking a game for my 6th birthday and seeing the 30th anniversary cover with 3 games in 1 (rayman m, 2, and 3) I ran straight to my room to play it and fell in love with all 3 games that to this day I’ll always say rayman 3 for me is top 3 games
I'm right there with you on this ranking, I love Land of the Livid Dead so much, and the music in the Fairy Council always hits me with nostalgia like a bag of bricks! I played the games in a roundabout way, starting with Rayman 1 when I was like 4 or 5, and shortly after that, I got Rayman 3. Took me a while before getting 2, and then it was the inferior ps1 version, though at 8 years old, I didn't know I was missing out. I absolutely love this trilogy, Rayman was basically the first thing I was a fan of, and 3 is definitely also my personal favorite with 2 not far behind. I practically grew up with Rayman. I like Origins and Legends fine, if nothing else because they dragged Rayman away from the Rabbids' clutches, but they kinda ruined Rayman's personality for me, and I still hope we get a proper 3d Rayman again one day, he really prospers best in that dimension. I hope this remaster/remake bears fruit, I am sick of this amazing franchise being dormant.
Man i never made it past the desert of the kanaaren because just like you, they scared the shit out of me when I was younger, I always used to play it with my cousin. I was sure that had to be the last level, little did I know lol The tower of the land of the wandering spirits is by far my favourite part, it just looks so magical and ethereal. Got reminded of some fond memories while watching the video, thank you for that
First serious game? Rayman Origins on the PS3 Actual first game? Raving Rabbits on the PS2 Never played 3 or anything older but your videos are fun to listen to
Bro you can get it in like every console store, and I'm sure you can easily get it on PC in the Ubisoft store for super cheap you should buy it the game is Goated easily one of my favorite games of all time if you can play it, and you like rayman you should
I have something of a similar experience. My first overall exposure to Rayman that I can remember were the Rabbids games, but the first title I actually owned and played was Origins, and MAN did I play that game a lot as a kid (I just dated myself hardcore but eh, lmao). Then I heard about Rayman 3 HD, and going from Origins to that game was certainly interesting, but I ate up every minute of my experience with 3, so in that regard, it's kinda special to me alongside Origins. Good times.
My father was kinda cool, he gaved me my first pc, and most of the game i've played as a child. Rayman was one of them, i remember playing it when i was 5yo along with Beyond Good and Evil, Prince of Persia, and GuildWars thoses games have left some of my best memories of all times in my life ^^
Damn 21 years ago…that makes me feel so old…I was six…this game Defined my taste is music and I’ve never actually seen, let alone played another game with it’s addictive combat loop. While the bog of murk is my personal favourite I can definitely understand it’s not the best in terms of level design. That being said imo Bog of murk has the most memorable atmosphere, especially if you turn off the music…while the music is definitely the most unique I’ve heard in a video game, the actual soundscape is also the most detailed I’ve ever heard too, better then a crap tone of modern games. The Bog of murk is an excellent example of this as you really feel your there and I’ve had fantasies of living in Begoniax’s tree surrounded by nothing but the bogs water as a result(yeah I’m weird fight me :p) Also the snowboard race ost is the auditory representation of a perfect game soundtrack. Shit I have too many good memories of this game…and I just realised how much it’s formed me as person 0_0 I might have to do my own video on it one day haha 😂
I always thought bog of murk was unfinished, i mean look at the second level. Jump to island get power up, get second one jump to other side and thats it. Its just waaaay to short for me to think that it wasnt rushed during development But i think everyone agrees that land of the livid dead, especially the tower level are the best in the game lol, great video!
I agree with almost everything you said (a rare thing on the internet), except that in my opinion the final flying section in Rayman 2 does work due to it being somewhat similar to the shell riding sections in previous levels (janky as they may be). Come to think of it, the shock rocket in rayman 3 is pretty much an exact copy of the flying shell mechanic in the previous game and it worked very well. Using the shock rocket to finish off the final boss would definitely have been a better ending to the game than the turret sections. The other thing I don't agree with (sorry) is the underwater boss in TLOTLD, to me the heavily restricted movement always felt like a huge downgrade from the previous game and the boss is far too easy. And to this day I still don't actually know if the giant robot spider is supposed to be a hoodlum of some kind, or is just a random robot that roams the land (maybe a remnant from the robot pirates? Maybe it was Razorbeards pet?)
I agree with pretty much everything (except the knaaren since I just keep struggling to 100% score it and the atmosphere is getting on my nerves lol), specially the final boss fight. I think it should've ended when Rayman shoots the missile to him and make some dramatic explosion. Otherwise, make an interesting transition to the flying arena and make it... I dunno, more of a high-stakes combat situation? Similar to phase 1 and the normal Reflux fight but maybe the hoodlum health mechanic could've been implemented except you don't have to use the flying mechanic...
33:57 what I think tower of leptys was missing from every other tower final dungeon, was outside moments. Like if each sub level had a moment where we climb on balconies outside the tower and we see just how high we’ve gotten above the world, that gives more of a sense of scaling a tower, not just a mess of internal corridors.
Pretty good list. I would like to rank the levels in my comment, but it's just too hard, so I won't. But I need to say that I love Razoff fight, I was losing the snowboard race on purpose just to play it agian and listen that fire soundtrack, and I really like Clearleaf Forest, and I don't think It has boring visuals. Still I have no doubt that The Land of the Livid Dead is the best of the bests. For me Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is still the best platform game that I've ever played. I love every second and pixel of it. I think that ranking the first Rayman levels would be interesting.
Aww yeaaa hoodlum headquarters! Normally I'm not so keen on "lava" levels but that one got a pass, I liked its vibe. I forgot about that rising water part though lol stressful af
36:44 the final bosses is good for the two phases. I found the going up to reflux a bit tedious. When yoy get hit you have to go back to the bottom and work your way back up.
I was like 5 or 6 when I played Rayman 3 and I remember my grandfather gave me a rayman 3 demo disc and I played it the heck of out it it was so good and I wanted the full version but I had no money and I just played the demo version lol
What I don't like about Rayman 3 is the lenght of the levels. If I would decide to play one Rayman level it would too short for my taste for some short chill gaming experience. And with variety of landscapes every level has it would not be so bad to chop them as separate levels. Some parts of the levels like the Fairy Council beginning in the forest, second level being the building. Longer levels could be separated to more parts like Desert of the Knaaren could be atleast three parts and Reflux final boss could and should be separate level as well.
Yeah, honestly don't really disagree. Personally I do like the Bog of Murk, but that might be mainly carried by the background music. Still, Land of the Livid dead is the best. One thing I really like about the levels is that you can see the end objective in the background for a lot of them, particularly in the first section
Just curious if you have ever played the Trine series. To me it feels like the only game that comes close to and perfected the kind of magical worldbuilding with engaging gameplay design that Rayman games had
I first got into rayman very similarly. my mum and i played rayman 1 when i was around 3 years old, and we got rayman 3 on the ps2 near release date. i much prefer the first but i find 3 more approachable as a replay. unfortunately i never got to play 2 as a kid and i havent been able to get it to run on my computer or a emulator as an adult.
i think rayman 3 is the only game where there isn't one level i can positively say i dislike. all of them i think are great honestly. that being said, i think my favorites are land of the livid dead and bog of murk, they're atmospheric as hell
S: Summit Beyond the Clouds , Land of the livid dead A: Fairy Council , Hoodlum HQ B: Clearleaf Forest , Desert of the Knaaren C: The Longest Shortcut , The Bog of Murk D: The Tower of Leptys As a child i was too scared to play the Desert of the Knaaren so that became my default ending point, played the game countless times this way, i was like 20 years old when i actually finished the game for the first time, and yet the game bacame this very special childhood memory for me. Somehow Summit Beyond the Clouds still became my favourite level with its perfect way of portraying a winter wonderland style world, which i am a sucker for in general. Rayman 2 and 3 have a special place in my heart, and i really enjoy listening to someone who feels the same way. I recently started to listen to the OST of both games again and fell in love with some of the music, a video about the soundtrack might be interessting, espacially what your favourite tracks are.
...im...Rayman 3 is one of my favourate games... I thought desert of the knaaren WAS the END of the game...because as a little kid I was too scared to play it, so when I returned as a Teen I replayed, got through the level Beat the boss, and...I thought that was it. I was so confused when you called it 'mid-game', I've even watched -some- rayman 3 content on youtube and...Im so baffled that one of my favorite games...I ONLY PLAYED HALF WAY THROUGH...THINKING I FINISHED IT O_O Edit: Also Rayman is pretty special to me, I resonated with your story with the franchise, Rayman 1 was the first video game I ever remember playing, it was really scary to me. I played rayman 2 on ps2 and GBA, thinking they were 2 different games...I didn't really like ray man 2, I was a little kid and I just didn't really know where to go, but when I was a bit older, I played rayman 3 and LOVVED It!! The tennis mini game the extras stuff they style, powerups, globox, boss fights, cutscenes. I replayed and replayed and replayed...up to the desert of the knaaren...as I was too scared of the enemies, and thought it was the final level, so I didn't think I was missing out of much :/
whoever thinks rayman 3 is the weakest, know this: you're opinion is wrong. also in regards to the list, in my opinion the factory is totally S tier, its taking the spooky feeling you had in the desert of the knaaren and turns it into straight up creepy with that narrator spokeswoman in the background and the bloodlike liquid. it feels like you truly are in the belly of the beast (no pun intended) of this whole ploy of andre. to me land of the livid dead is actually c tier, it gives the feeling of preparing to go to sleep but doesn't match it because of the intense fights, its a dissonance that I remember really not getting and actually made me wish I finished it asap back then. other than that, the crown level is the lowest part of the gameplay for me. it feels like a different game entirely. like you said, it feels like they scooped what they had for their proof of concept and made it into a level since they missed content or something. the other parts of the list are good. nice video, good job.
Am i the only one who thinks land of the livin dead level was a little bit too long? And i mean that when i finish the tower i just want this level to be over. Otherwise the level is absolutetly beautifull for its time and fun to play.
All levels are S Tier

What a great level-by-level review. Rayman 3 is great! Great video!

This guy will explode in popularity once the new Rayman Game comes out.
Bog of Murk was definately not finished. Tbf tho, in the original script they would've traveled with a Wooglah (like a big bird), instead of having the disco sections. The Wooglah then gets injured when flying over the bog of Murk and Rayman strikes a deal with Begoniax to bring her the beauty elixir for her to heal the Wooglah.
you should do a rayman origins ranking
Wow! Really similar experiences with the game! I’m glad you love it too!
I liked the part where a 5-year old stares profoundly at a box and mom notices the obvious vibrations.
The least favourite location is probably the Hoodloom’s Factory.
completely agree with every ranking also getting chills hearing the soundtrack and seeing some of the visuals again
i haven't touched this game in for almost a decade because im scared it will lose its allure to me and i've been waiting for a remaster to play it again, pleases me to see that you seemingly play it regularly and still have as much love for it. i reallly cant wait for this remaster
really wish more games had this atmosphere and aesthetic man
Some guy on RUclips is working on a remake in Unity I believe! Or Unreal Engine, I forgot... But it honestly looks amazing and so faithful!
It was such a fun video to watch, always play this game with a good friend of mine, we also used to play it as kids. I would also love a vid for Rayman 2 ranking.
Thank you! 😄
Had to stop the vid 17 mins in to not spoil myself, but I totally agree with your thoughts so far. I'm glad I'm not the only one who tore my hair out in that mansion bossifight with the gun dude lmao
Yeah, definitely better to experience it firsthand, especially towards the end. I’m glad you stopped 🫡
Another rayman 3 video in 2024?! Peak!!!
But yeay still waiting for Rayman 4
can confrm i was the guy doing something else listening to this in the bg
I really enjoyed everything you had to say about everything here, great video.
As someone who hasn't played this game in approaching 2 decades, I am going purely off the childhood memories of these levels; if I ever get a chance to replay the game now, I'd form a better opinion of it all. But because I can't, my person ranks (based on how I remember feeling playing these levels) are:
🥇 *Land of the Livid Dead* - 100% agree, best OST and level in the game
🥈 *Clearleaf Forest* - going to be honest, this one has heavy nostalgia goggles for me for family reasons, but I still love it all the same
🥉 *Desert of the Kanaraan* - never needed help with this one, but the pace change as well as the soundtrack's shift to a more menacing and almost oppressive feel sold it for me as such a terrifying level
4⃣ *Fairy Council* - great opener to the game, and the Teensie Highway was the one part of the OST that stuck with me even before getting reintroduced to the game in my adulthood
5⃣ *Longest Shortcut* - I was Globox when I played through this one: "why is it taking so long?!" I enjoyed it, but I was expecting it to be quicker. I was a fool
6⃣ *Bog of Murk* - one of the only levels I remember finding one of the secret rooms in as a kid
7⃣ *Tower of Leptis* - was a challenge to make it through, and I recall enjoying the Reflux fight
8⃣ *Summit Beyond the Clouds* - atmospherically breathtaking, but I have no real memories of this level positive or negative
9⃣ *Hoodlum Headquarters* - I just remember getting very frustrated at this level, but other than that I can't remember much about it, so it goes to the end on the grounds of having slightly more negative feelings attached to it over 'Summit'
1&2 would be my S-Tier; 3&4 my A-Tier; B-Tier is 5&6, maybe an argument for 7 in there too; but 8&9 for certain would be my C-Tier levels
Again, if I ever get a chance to replay the game now, I'd go into it with an eye to be more critical and think about the levels with a more adult mind over "this level fun, this level not" black and white thinking of my childhood self
rayman 3 is becoming my most replayed rayman game as well as game period, honestly I love the game and all the levels because they all have this cartoony but beautiful feel to them, I do favor the ones that focus more on combat since I personally think rayman 3 has some of the best and unique combat I've ever seen in a game, although I really do wish there was more to summit beyond the clouds I love it a lot and wish it stayed its welcome a bit longer.
man i love this game so much. My most loved game ever, there will never be such a atmospheric game for a child! Absolute crazy nostalgia
When I think 'childhood game', for me, Rayman 3 is THAT game.
Mario Galaxy and Sonic Unleashed too, but Rayman 3 was MY childhood game.
The one thing I'd change about Land of the Livid Dead was how boring swimming is. Should've brought back Blue Lums and swimming up and down.
I have like the Mandela effect of Rayman. it’s fondly remembered but nothing I remember is exactly right.
Makes me want to get back into it :)
Rayman Origins on the PS3
Actual first game? Raving Rabbits on the PS2
Never played 3 or anything older but your videos are fun to listen to
Glad you like listening to them! You should check out Rayman 3 though, it’s a ton of fun!
The Bog of murk is an excellent example of this as you really feel your there and I’ve had fantasies of living in Begoniax’s tree surrounded by nothing but the bogs water as a result(yeah I’m weird fight me :p)
Also the snowboard race ost is the auditory representation of a perfect game soundtrack. Shit I have too many good memories of this game…and I just realised how much it’s formed me as person 0_0 I might have to do my own video on it one day haha 😂
I always thought bog of murk was unfinished, i mean look at the second level. Jump to island get power up, get second one jump to other side and thats it. Its just waaaay to short for me to think that it wasnt rushed during development
But i think everyone agrees that land of the livid dead, especially the tower level are the best in the game lol, great video!
Similar to phase 1 and the normal Reflux fight but maybe the hoodlum health mechanic could've been implemented except you don't have to use the flying mechanic...
this might be the only tier list I've seen before where I completely agree with every ranking
Just got back from work, gonna grab something to eat and then watch this bad boy. Any plans on ranking g Rayman 2 levels in the future?
If people say they wanna see it then I’d love to do it… 👀
@ well it definitely gets my vote.
Please do!
I really love the longest shortcut relaxing Music is so Zen And they should bring back the Karen’s in the new game
When yoy get hit you have to go back to the bottom and work your way back up.
it would have been nuts if they introduced a 6th powerup for the 4th phase of the final boss
Me finding this video at 4 am refusing me to sleep
If you loved Reflux, please play A hat in Time. They both are on my all time favourites list.
I love A Hat In Time! :D
The nostalgia is 2 mf real lol
The levels are going to be gorgeus in Hd in the remaster 😁
😎
If the remaster is real
Yeah, honestly don't really disagree. Personally I do like the Bog of Murk, but that might be mainly carried by the background music.
Still, Land of the Livid dead is the best.
One thing I really like about the levels is that you can see the end objective in the background for a lot of them, particularly in the first section
Just curious if you have ever played the Trine series. To me it feels like the only game that comes close to and perfected the kind of magical worldbuilding with engaging gameplay design that Rayman games had
Ooooh. I haven’t but I’ll check it out
@@corkben Skip the third game though haha, we don't talk about that one. (although it is still visually great)
I first got into rayman very similarly. my mum and i played rayman 1 when i was around 3 years old, and we got rayman 3 on the ps2 near release date. i much prefer the first but i find 3 more approachable as a replay. unfortunately i never got to play 2 as a kid and i havent been able to get it to run on my computer or a emulator as an adult.
i think rayman 3 is the only game where there isn't one level i can positively say i dislike. all of them i think are great honestly.
that being said, i think my favorites are land of the livid dead and bog of murk, they're atmospheric as hell
I love this game soo much, its soo much better than Rayman 2
Can you do R2 Ps1 levels ranked? would love to see it
Yes! 😁
"Which level is your favorite?"
How about all of them ? 💀
S: Summit Beyond the Clouds , Land of the livid dead
A: Fairy Council , Hoodlum HQ
B: Clearleaf Forest , Desert of the Knaaren
C: The Longest Shortcut , The Bog of Murk
D: The Tower of Leptys
As a child i was too scared to play the Desert of the Knaaren so that became my default ending point, played the game countless times this way, i was like 20 years old when i actually finished the game for the first time, and yet the game bacame this very special childhood memory for me.
I was so confused when you called it 'mid-game', I've even watched -some- rayman 3 content on youtube and...Im so baffled that one of my favorite games...I ONLY PLAYED HALF WAY THROUGH...THINKING I FINISHED IT O_O
Edit: Also Rayman is pretty special to me, I resonated with your story with the franchise, Rayman 1 was the first video game I ever remember playing, it was really scary to me. I replayed and replayed and replayed...up to the desert of the knaaren...as I was too scared of the enemies, and thought it was the final level, so I didn't think I was missing out of much :/
Me like Rayman 3, give me a high five, oh wait you don't have any hands
Rayman 3 is Masterpiece
whoever thinks rayman 3 is the weakest, know this:
you're opinion is wrong. also in regards to the list, in my opinion the factory is totally S tier, its taking the spooky feeling you had in the desert of the knaaren and turns it into straight up creepy with that narrator spokeswoman in the background and the bloodlike liquid. it feels like you truly are in the belly of the beast (no pun intended) of this whole ploy of andre. to me land of the livid dead is actually c tier, it gives the feeling of preparing to go to sleep but doesn't match it because of the intense fights, its a dissonance that I remember really not getting and actually made me wish I finished it asap back then. other than that, the crown level is the lowest part of the gameplay for me. it feels like a different game entirely. like you said, it feels like they scooped what they had for their proof of concept and made it into a level since they missed content or something. the other parts of the list are good. nice video, good job.
totally agree on the factory part, absolutely perfect ambience, you feel so small in the giant plum juice factory
can you do zelda: the wind waker
@@raabbbbid56 ooooh yeah good shout. Maybe soon
Am i the only one who thinks land of the livin dead level was a little bit too long? And i mean that when i finish the tower i just want this level to be over. Otherwise the level is absolutetly beautifull for its time and fun to play.
The biggest scam of this game are those Knaaren abominations. they made them mofo's invincible!
People think 3 is the weakest link of the franchise when Rayman 1 exists?
