One of Marlon Brando's best roles ever. The louche English aristocratic agent provocateur sent in to foment a slave rebellion on a Portuguese island that the British wanted to add to THEIR empire. Gillo Pontecorvo's masterpiece. American stirring in Vietnam of course provided no inspiration whatsoever. Morricone and Pontecorvo. Two of the greatest Italians of the 20th century.
I saw the movie "Burn" when it first came out. The music score still gives me chills after all these years. I've shared my video of the Marlon Brando movie with close friends.
I did exactly the same thing. Also see “The Mission” with Robert Di Nero. Music by Ennio Morricconi. Takes place about the same era. Spectacular sound track ❤
what a great theme , certainly one of the great music themes of any motion picture with Morricone himself directing the whole affair; although there are some aspects of the Warsaw version i prefer this is still a fine interpretation keep listening Cheers!
When I saw this film I was completely nailed by the opening sequence, the images and especially the music. I find it interesting to contrast the two bongo-drum players at 0:10 ff, somewhat aloof, with the completely-into-the-music players of the Warsaw concert (/watch?v=yktc_P4FL_4), around 0:29 ff
It's not "abolisson; it's abolicāo, which ios portuguese for "abolition i.e abolition of slavery...queimada was a Portuguese colony and the nam of the film for which this song is the theme. Get with it.
Morricone did not want to use the correct Portuguese word. He created "Abolisson" instead, in order to represent the messy mix of languages used by the slaves in the Caribbean. ;)
@@emakrop No one speaks Portuguese in Caribbean. He just didn`t care. In the "New Word" only Brazil speaks. The Tratado de Tordessilllas, signed between Portugal ans Spain gave the west to Spain and the East to Portugal. The movie was supposed to be placed in a Spain colony, but the Spanish sad NO.. So they have to create a ficcional portuguese colony in Caribbe.
Bises.
Not entirely sure why the choir were give books. It's just the same word over and over and over and over again... Also, the conductor needs a Red Bull or two
The conductor, who, by the way, is also the composer, was well over 70 when this was recorded. Not all men are exuberant, some are contained. Exuberance alone doesn't make a good conductor. The books for the choir are usually not for the words, but for the music.
Me dejan anonadado
How on Earth can one piece of music with just ONE WORD be so flippin amazing......because Ennio Moorricone created it,thats why,Love you Maestro!!xxx
Anytime I lose faith in humanity I watch this and it brings me back

Just One word for a magic music... The greatest... Morricone talk with God, hi knows.

Just heard it in Giuseppe Tornatorre's documentary about Morricone !

Burn! is such an important film and is SO hated by corporate imperialists... great song!

A boli ząb, a boli ząb!
Measures
In Polish laguage it means "abolicja" or "wyzwolenie"
Aaaaa boli ząb
The right term in portuguese is "Abolição", not "Abolisson". Abolição = Abolition.
Morricone did not want to use the correct Portuguese word. He created "Abolisson" instead, in order to represent the messy mix of languages used by the slaves in the Caribbean. ;)
Thanks for explain! Did not know that, but make sense.
A great song indeed!

Rhytme trop enlevé par rapport à l'original .film .."Queimada" ....

What a fool ignorant
Ew.
I didn't pretty like the film. But this has to be the worst scores that Ennio has done for the last 50 year.
