That lift has such a satisfying sound when it brakes leveis, a fine example of more simpler electromechanical that just works well, good stuff.

I love Beno talking about the electromechanics! Growing up in the digital age I just find ectromechanics so more interesting compared digital. I would love to about electromechanical lifts extremely in-depth. Always had an interested in lifts but I need to learn how they work. extremely Interesting video!

Excellent find Beno. I never knew GEC General electrical corp did lifts. Nice a vacuum tube among components used. Older stuff was made solid and built to last unlike the some things nowadays. That motor room is a classic.

Those lifts are also quite easy and simple to maintain so it would be just a waste of money for them to replace it! :)

Original even down to the inspection control, wow. I managed to see and ride these recently but I had no idea that they were still that original.

Some of those lifts that are so old are still working and are still very reliable. Compare to newer lifts that have seen lots of upgrades.

why is it that the windows on the doors have been made from their normal size to really small????

I don't know if it's the case here, but I've seen the same thing done to two elevators in an apartment building that suffered from vandalism. Obviously the window being knocked out is a huge safety issue, so after this happened several times all the windows got replaced with similar small slits.
