My favorite band of all time. I owned strawberry jam for years and had it on my ipod (I had only like 4 albums on there) and was SUPER sick of every song…. Except the ones from that animal collective album… so I got a different one. They recommend tong sings… and I loved it…. So I got httttzzz centipede and THAT WAS IT FOR ME… favorite album from any band ever…. I went right on iTunes and bought every album they had. So hyped… love these guys and you guys! Keep supporting music!

Honestly, I had an easier time getting into CHZ than I did MPP. I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I truly think CHZ was a masterpiece. And I think this new one might be my favorite thing they've done since Feels.
Whoever says “T-Pain” during Cherokee and then tells her friend about her brilliant joke? You’re. You’re a part of my life now. Your joke is stupid. But after about the 500th repetition, it gains some kind of karmic traction. And becomes genius. So kudos. And be quieter next time please.
those kind of moments are why i love bootlegs like these so much. really makes you feel like you're in the audience having fun, and overhearing the people trying to make their friends laugh. i'm gonna miss that in the studio version tbh.

Im excited to hear "Walker" on the record. I think the harmonies and effects are cool but I think some production is going to really make this chiller shine.

Listening again for like the 3,000th time and I just realized what this collection sounds like. It reminds me of the tour in support of MPP. I saw them in Albuquerque on that tour and it was really strong. These tracks just REALLY REALLY suggest that ABQ show all those years ago. Substances were abundant at that show. There was literally a kid in the bathroom handing out various misc. pills and potions. The whole place went insane. There were snakes hanging off the balconies. They were good snakes and they could dance. Ah, man. Crazy times.

correct me if im wrong but I believe its been since MPP that theyve played future studio album songs live first. I always thought that was super unique of animal collective. if you were a fan you could hear them workshop songs like brothersport for years before they ended up on album and listen to all their iterations.

avey said this album was mostly recorded through them sending files back and forth to each other. they couldn't get into the studio to record it bc covid. that led to a lot of songs that they felt they all needed to be in the same room to record together getting pushed back to the next album. avey also said there's gonna be a "sister album" of sorts coming 2022/23. defeat and the rest of the other new songs (gem and i, kings, stride right...) will be on that one.

I believe I heard something about someone getting a DM from one of the members saying they're planning a companion album of sorts down the line with that extra material. I could even see an extra EP coming too given how much stuff there is still up in the air for release.

Someone On the animal collective subreddit posted a screenshot of their conversation with Avey and he said there will be another record with the jams left off of this one. Also Deakin reflected this sentiment during their broadcast on the Blast Music app from last Wednesday. There are a few more of these broadcasts so I would watch that platform for some new sounds and glimpses in to the process. So far the first broadcast was from one of their rehearsals before the most recent fall tour. Who knows what they’ll put up next. Honestly, I’m predicting an album stream. Thing is once they do a broadcast it’s only available for 24 hours.

Centipede Hz was the Yin to Strawberry Jam's Yang. Underrated album.
Honestly, I had an easier time getting into CHZ than I did MPP. I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I truly think CHZ was a masterpiece. And I think this new one might be my favorite thing they've done since Feels.

I am already kind of disappointed this album is only going to be 9 songs. WHERE IS DEFEAT?!?!?!?!
