raw and powerful, just what I expect from Sleater-Kinny. I also appreciate the lyric changes, which better encapsulates the feeling of loss than the original. The origninal was so totally escapist and both objectified love and women. Those who can't/won't appreicate this shift in perspective are exactly the problem with most expectations about romantic love, which is dominated by a male-centered perspective.

It is indeed raw and powerful. Raw as putrefied meat and a powerful assault upon the ears and intellect. "romantic love, which is dominated by a male-centered perspective" Really?... is there any other perspective?

sometimescoherent - As a woman I'd rather be objectified by a man than undermined by a feminist. Sweet merciful crap this performance is horrible. It feels like I'm being eviscerated as I type this. Ugh, I'm going to cleanse my soul with a Milo speech after this comment.

This is the kind of thinking that comes from being so ideologically possessed, that you think lyrics about the power of music to elicit memories is misogynistic. Oh dear God, an old song brought back memories of someone he used to know, and misses. That damn near makes him Hitler.

Maybe if Alberto took the time to do a little research, he would find out how hard Tom Scholz worked, his diverse musical ability and how much of his own money he invested to get his music out there for slackers like Alberto to offhandedly dismiss.

YEH WHERE'S THE RAW EMOTION OF BOSTON HUH, THE WHITEST BAND OF ALL TIME

  • @cassiass

See the great thing about Sleater-Kinney was that they didn't want to sound in tune or typical. I guess the idea of doing something against the grain and being a little discordant is lost upon all you old boring Midwesterners, but it's ok, SK wasn't shlepping around the world for you to understand them or even like their music really. They made music for angry girls, not dad rockers.

sorta true, we really don't need to know your esteemed take on why. but they were easily one of the best bands of their time., or any for that matter.

Snooty, condescending and a sarcastic version of esteemed... sorry I didn't sound uneducated enough for you all haha. Just my simple observation and response to every other person who commented here on saying that Boston is the best band of all time... *eyeroll* I must have forgotten its illegal to have an opinion on the Internet!

To all of the dadrock listeners, Boston's version is nauseatingly awful and works as a perfect example of the flux of generic hard rock music that starting being flung at listeners in the late 70's while Sleater-Kinney were one of the most innovative bands of their era.
Boston were a well-paid act who modeled their music after whatever was selling well at the time. Sleater-Kinney were truly fantastic artists who worked their asses off to put their work out.

Lol, the fuck does that have to do with anything. I have ears and good taste.that's all it takes. In the 30 years I've been listening to music and reading music articles or flipping through top 10 or 25 or 50 best singers or guitarist never has anybody from that band been mentioned.

+Levi Schroeder It was so watered down and shitty that Nirvana completely stole it and turned it into Smells Like Teen Spirit. Levi I bet you tell friends all about Dinosaur Jr, too.

what brought me here was an interview with carry Brown. I've never heard of this band, but figure I would check this out. the funny thing is in the interview in entertainment weekly the band talks about this being a corny pop song. even in the video the crowd is laughing in a mocking way when they find out it's this song. even they don't respect it.
