I was unfairly graded also in City University of London MBA program. Professors hide behind academic judgement so I have to gather evidence regarding material irregularity and school wont even allow to file late appeals because of their faults. Its baffling how UK universities just treat students as disposable entities rather than actually caring about their needs and cant even discuss with professors. I never had such bada academic experience in my life other than UK
Yes i have already submitted several complaints including harassment as well. But my business school is not pleased with these complaints and try to silence students. I am waiting for cancelled trips refund for over 1 year now but all they say it covid 19. Professors are good in general but some have bias based on racial issues (school declared itself a racist). Really struggling with internal university processes and balancing academic side by side)
how do i evidence things like bad mental health or family crisis? also does evidence need to be something official like a doctor's note or can it be something like a text between friends?
Hello Jackie :) I found your video after submitting my appeal. But I followed everything you mentioned in the video. I sent you an email regarding my concerns with a recent appeal I submitted more than 4 weeks ago on bereavement grounds. Please let know your thoughts about it whenever you have the time. Thank you x
I've just received a letter through the post about my universities decision to academically dismiss me. What confuses me the most was contacting asking them if I could retake the year and being ignored. Combine this with the isolation from covid and my already suffering mental health it's becoming a rather sickening joke to be quite frank. I don't know what to do, I've missed 5 months of work, three Computer repairs and 3 wifi changes to help stay connected, it's like everything that could go wrong has gone wrong.
Contact your student union today. Contact your GP for evidence and write a letter detailing what happened, when it happened and how it affected your ability to study. Follow the university appeals process. Ask your family to write a supporting letter too confirming your case. Unfortunately I’m not insured to give personal advice. Please contact your student union and they will read your draft letter and advise . I wish you well! So upsetting but you must act and try not to take it personally as usually it’s done using procedures. Once the right people read your case I’m sure all will be okay.
An update on this. My retake year application was successful after the head lecturer of my course launched an internal investigation following the second lockdown here in the UK. It turns out following our Application forms that a number of students besides myself in need of extra support were ignored and quite frankly forgotten about. Turns out "apparently" ticking the care leaver box or estranged child box means nothing now. I understand there has been a global pandemic about but when your working from home and the UCAS application form is literally your ticket to university, it's kinda shocking when these supposed professionals lie stating they never read your form in the first place, never mind processed it to get you into your chosen University. Considering the form needs to be read, scanned and filed for your student finance, Student ID and Dorm number. So using that logic how the hell was I even on campus if know body had processed my application, how was I even allowed on campus in the first place after recieving my ID and student number? Like WTF. Anyway enough ranting, I hope this brings a couple of pointers to freshers getting started at Uni during these troubled times and thanks all for reading. Stay safe out there.

Hi maam, I really loved your video and everything you talked about as it gave me great insight on how to write a proper appeal. I'm currently working on an appeal letter to submit to my school and I was wondering if you could offer me any advice at all? Thank you so much, this really means alot to me as it is my last chance.
Hi Jackie I'm currently helping a friend draft an appeal letter on the grounds of 'there was a material procedural error (including disproportionate penalty imposed) at the SAIP meeting'. She was penalised for plagiarising in an assessment she did. This was then escalated to the School Academic Irregularities Panel (SAIP) who have come back to say that she has another opportunity to do the assessment again, however the mark will be capped at zero? We therefore want to appeal against that as the assessment is part of a compulsory module and not passing it would prevent her from progressing to the next year. Can you advise me on the best way to go about this?
Maame Abena I would have expected a cap of 40% as this was the norm where I worked, this seems harsh, unreasonable and I’m wondering if it’s an error. To redo it for zero doesn’t make sense as she’s being set up to fail. To advise I’d need to see all the paperwork and uni procedures. Does she have a student union advice centre? I worked as an adviser for years and we would read over draft appeals constantly and help. I really hope it goes ok. If she has any mitigation from the time of the plagiarism resubmit that to. If she could get a doctors letter.
Maame Abena which uni is it? Usually all universities have advisers. However, I am happy for you to email me. I’d need to see her draft appeal statement, any responses from the uni, the appeal procedures or a link....perhaps the link to the academic misconduct regs too...without all of that information I wouldn’t wish to advise as I wouldn’t want to give incorrect advice. Also be mindful of appeal deadlines. jackiejaneadviser@gmail.com
Hi Jackie, love your channel super informative!!! I cant progress onto second year of my course because I failed one core module, last week I recieved my results and my lecturer is telling me to repeat a whole year again because there wasnt enough work. I only just realised now that I handed in the wrong file which has cost me progressing onto the 2nd year what do I do? I have emailed the course leader, my personal tutor and the lecturer for garment tech none of them have responded I go to Birmingham City University. I would be extremely grateful If you can advise me on how I can move forward to second year.

Aw no this sounds shocking! Can you visit your student union? Submit a complaint and take it through the procedure.

Hi Jackie
We have no one to help us do this. Would you be able to kindly help us by looking at the matter further?

Capped at zero. That just can't be real. Because why do it then?😂
Can disregard of disability which was initially informed but denied leading to affect in studies come under material irregularity?
