Funnily enough this whole thing basically happened to me during grass vs fire vs water. In the middle of the splatfest my city got hit my a massive storm and my town just so happened to be the worst hit, and when we went outside we saw sticks flying everywhere, trees bent at a 90 degree angle and harsh winds and rain. So much it was a hazard to go outside. It just kept on going and going like this and the power went out along with my internet connection which didn’t allow me to play like half of the splatfest and at one time a house started flooding. And there was mass damage everywhere with uprooted trees left and right, and multiple of them crashing into peoples houses. It was a wild event, and probably an omen from team water.
SAME! I only saw Bigfoot in Tri-Colour, and that was in ONE MATCH, because the rest of them were mirror matches! Since I always pick Shiver's team-- because 1. Shiver is hot, 2. Technically Callie would canonically be on Shiver's team and I love Callie to death, and 3. she usually has my preferred option-- I had never had a mirror match before, so it was WEIRD. Also, for explanation on why I picked what team each Splatfest, since people'll ask: I had no opinions on Rock vs. Paper vs. Scissors, and I wasn't around for the testfire, since I wasn't in the community, and got the game itself on Christmas. Probably woulda picked Rock, based on colour alone. (Blue is my favorite colour) I had no opinions on Gear vs. Grub Vs. Fun and I wasn't around for that either. I, again, probably would've picked Gear, because it seems the most helpful-- let's be honest. If I was there, which I was not, for Grass vs. Fire vs. Water, I'd totally pick Grass, since Meowscarada is my second favorite Pokemon, behind my beloved Koraidon. I picked Spicy in Spicy vs. Sweet vs. Sour because I feel like throwing up when I eat something too sweet, I don't mind sour things, and I LOVE spicy things. I picked Dark in Dark vs. Milk vs. White because milk chocolate and white chocolate give me that sickening sweet feeling, while dark chocolate doesn't give me it as much, plus it tastes the best. I picked Nessie in this Splatfest because it's the most believable to me, and I'm also Scottish.
Actually, technically, Jay might be onto something. Nessie and Aliens aren't confirmed to exist, but nobody says Bigfoot specifically refers to Sasquatch. Big feet most certainly do exist.

I am color blind, so I honestly cannot tell the difference between the orange and the theoretical green colors. I picked Nessie and I only encountered a Bigfoot team once. I am so happy the torture only lasted for one round.
Have you tried the colour lock feature? Just asking because I don't know how easy it is to find in the options menu. XD I'm not colour blind but I kept getting my team colours mixed up between Tri-Colour mirror matches and regular Tri-Colour matches. I can't imagine how confusing it was for those with vision problems. I wish they'd used different colours for mirror Tri-Colour matches.
I was also streaming the Splatfest when I got the warning too lol. My internet died for about 30 minutes and then everything was fine. But yeah that WAS hail, I felt it too.
I've been sitting on a Splatoon conspiracy theory since the first game: The jellyfish are part of a hivemind which controls the seemingly-nonexistent government, and intentionally popularized Turf battles as a sport to train the next generation of youth for the next Great Turf War. I don't know why the jellyfish hivemind would care about Turf battles, maybe they benefit somehow from keeping the inklings and octarians at odds with each other, or maybe it has something to do with the airborne microbes that feed on the leftover ink after a battle.
