Ayun nga random na tiktok lang, yung sa pink niyong kandidato official tiktok promotional videos pa, pero di bumenta kasi halatang pilit. Sige nga, sabihin niyo nga sa akin kung sino ngayon ang pandering? Kahit tignan niyo pa sa motorcades and sorties, ang daming nakakatuwa at funny na mga scenarios na nagaganap sa events ni Isko -- ganoon siya charismatic because he is truly a man of the people. Kandidato niyo nga nagmotorcade walang kalatoy-latoy, pa-wave-wave lang ng kamay na akala mo Miss Universe na nasa float, tapos pati speech kailangan may kodigo. Dati hindi nag-ha-house to house ngayon house-to-house na rin sila kasi mga volunteers ni Isko nag-hahouse-to-house. Tapos yung isa namang kandidato nakiki2joints daw at pati bise presidente non nakisakay sa kasikatan nung trend, ginamit pa sign daw ng unity. First, Isko's messaging has always been consistent, ever since he was a councilor. He even withdrew from the majority of the Manila Council and his position as the chairman of Agham and Teknolohiya when he witnessed the atrocities done in the city government, and that his colleagues have strayed far from what his original purpose why he entered politics -- and that is to change the life of even at least just one person, especially with his neighbours and friends in Tondo. He delivered one of the greatest lines in PH politics before the whole Manila Council,
"Gusto kong maibalik ang dati kong nararamdaman. Gusto ko uling maging basurero, dahil sa basurero ako ang nagdadala kung saan ko gusto ang kariton ko. Ayaw ko ako ang maging kariton, at maging lamang ay basura, at daldalhin saan-saan ng kung sino man." -- This was on May 23, 2002.
Then vice-mayor, his interview in Lourd De Veyra's WASAK program revealed that he has wrote laws as councilor and vice-mayor all focusing on housing, education, better healthcare, providing jobs, and better services -- but former mayors have done nothing to implement those laws. He even said that if he becomes mayor, minimum basic needs will be his north star in governing the city of Manila -- This was 9 years ago.
Now as a mayor, he has delivered all his promises back in his campaign in 2019.
Housing -- Tondominium 1 and 2, Binondominium 1 and 2 , San Lazaro, San Sebastian, Basecommunity, Pedro Gil;
Education -- Allowances for students, gadgets and internet bandwith for students and teachers, free but quality school supplies and uniform and bags, nutribun; Reconstruction of Ramon Magsaysay High School, Manila Science, Dr. Albert High School, Rosario Almario Elementary School
Healthcare - Bagong Ospital ng Maynila; 2 new dialysis center; COVID-19 Field Hospital; free hospitalization; free medicines and maintenance for senior citizens including Ensure milk; stockpiles of anti-COVID-19 medicines; open-policy even to Non-Manilans; Robotics therapy; modern CT-Scans and other medical equipments; renovation of old hospitals; new job opportunities and better benefits for healthworkers.
Jobs and Business - Regularized long-time city hall employees; hired even his rivals in politics; hired young fresh grads; ease of doing business policy and digitization of government transactions thru Go Manila; provided better spaces for vendors in Divisoria and public parks such as Mehan Garden and Hidden Garden
I could go on in his achievements. But the bottomline is, even during his campaign, these are the same things he promises to people -- housing, education, hospitals, jobs, business, and equality in the eyes of the law and government services. He adjusts the way he delivers his message, but his message remain the same whether his audience are common people, farmers, businessmen, academics, and even politicians. Sa halos araw-araw kong panonood ng sorties ni Isko and his past videos when he first started as a mayor back in 2019, he has remain consistent in his vision, his mission, and even his actions.
You do not measure Isko's sincerity by judging him "ay nagpapalit ng image kapag iba kausap". Bullshit. The same with Isko, I grew up in the streets, in the slums of Manila, and I grew up with slangs and squammy behavior too, but I know how to adjust and behave properly in a professional setting. But does that mean I'm faking it? Ayy napapaghalataan ang pagka-elitista mindset ano. You measure someone's sincerity if they WALK THEIR TALK. Did Isko deliver his promises? Refer to the paragraphs of a portion of his accomplishments above that I just wrote.
SECOND, you accuse him of projecting himself as a man of the people by "deliberately" using slang and colloquial words and doing some funny antics to appeal to audiences. Umm kailan po kayo nagising? Kailan po ba kayo pinanganak? Isko has been using slang ever since he was a councilor and he has always had a playful side. Nasa lamay nga yan lagi dati at nakikisama sa mga nagdadalamhati na mga pamilya, and to accomodate them, nakikipaglaro pa yan siya ng sugal sa kanila kahit walang perang taya para lang sa katuwaan; nag-iikot pa yan lagi sa kalsada at nagtatraffic enforcer pa nung vice mayor siya. Testimonies of people close to him always report na "parang kabarkada mo lang". Even the Rappler investigation of Pia Ranada in Tondo revealed that Isko as a sidecarboy in his teens was very naughty and likes to joke around. Thus, those slang words and funny antics come to him naturally because that is part of his personality.
In fact, may isa nga diyan na obviously kandidato niyo na kunyari nag-aappeal sa mahihirap pero pati speech kailangan pa ng teleprompter? Kailangan may kodigo? Akala ko ba para yon sa "laylayan" ng lipunan? Tapos may pa-hadouken pa, hairflip, pinkachu, at pati finger heart kinuha na rin sa mga Korean kahit sobrang cringe? Bullshit -- sino kaya ang pandering? Isko is not like that. He can speak spontaneously and reporters love to ambush interview him kasi he accomodates na walang advance questions. Lahat yon impromptu. Even the two joints phenomenon was spontaneous. Sumigaw yung isang supporter sa motorcade ni Isko, "Yorme, yorme two joints!" flashing the handsign, and Isko reciprocated. Sino ba mag-aakala eh mag-viral yon? Porket nag-viral pandering agad? Ayun nga random na tiktok lang, yung sa pink niyong kandidato official tiktok promotional videos pa, pero di bumenta kasi halatang pilit. Sige nga, sabihin niyo nga sa akin kung sino ngayon ang pandering?
Kahit tignan niyo pa sa motorcades and sorties, ang daming nakakatuwa at funny na mga scenarios na nagaganap sa events ni Isko -- ganoon siya charismatic because he is truly a man of the people. Kandidato niyo nga nagmotorcade walang kalatoy-latoy, pa-wave-wave lang ng kamay na akala mo Miss Universe na nasa float, tapos pati speech kailangan may kodigo. Dati hindi nag-ha-house to house ngayon house-to-house na rin sila kasi mga volunteers ni Isko nag-hahouse-to-house. Tapos yung isa namang kandidato nakiki2joints daw at pati bise presidente non nakisakay sa kasikatan nung trend, ginamit pa sign daw ng unity. Even yung mga wordings ni Isko like "resibo", "bilis kilos", "ang imposible gawing posible", and other platforms pinaggagaya nga, halatang halata. Sino kaya ngayon ang manufactured?
He never changed parties. He has been with his local party Asenso Manilenyo since its founding at tumayong pangalawang tatay na niya ang founder nito na si Danny Lacuna. Ang nangyayari, mga national parties ang nakikipagpartner sa kanila tuwing eleksyon dahil need ng LGU support kapag nangangampanya ang mga national candidates. Hindi nga sila yung sumasama sa mga national parties -- sila mismo ang hinihingan ng suporta dahil ganoon kalakas ang local party nila Isko sa Manila. Balimbing? Baka sa mga walang common sense ang utak. Yung isa nga diyan eh, may party tapos independent daw, pero ang makinarya niya galing pa rin doon sa same party na yon. Nagpalit lang kulay.
Yung can analyze all you want, do mental gymnastics and insinuate unfounded and obviously biased opinions against Isko para iangat yang kandidato niyong wala namang kalatoy-latoy, both in personality and achievements. I played this video expecting an objective conversation between two "experts" and constructive criticism in Isko's campaign. But you know what I got? Bullshit.
