Generally I'm not a fan of elevators where you can see the rest of the world outside of them as you go up, but Sky Tree's such a beautiful building that I might have to brave it if I go to Tokyo next summer...
as i was in tokyo in 2010, i remember this tower. it was unfinished and on the current highest place of that time i could see 3 or 4 cranes there. it already had an impressive hight in summer 2010. and i miss this beautiful city..
This isn't the main "sky tree". This is the shopping mall elevator attached to it. From memory, this only went 40 floors or something. It was fast though!
Strange, even though it's taller then our CN Tower here in Toronto, from this video, it looks shorter, must be an optical illusion? Has anyone been to both? If so, which did you prefer?
having just been on the CN tower, looks like the rest of the skyline is shorter and all roughly the same height, whereas Toronto has a lots of height differences.
actually, that's not the skytree observatory. that's a 158 m office building standing near the skytree. you can see it a the right end of this photo: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tokyo_Skytree_2014_%E2%85%A2.jpg
I don't know actually, they're kinda similar. The Skytree has a limited view of the Tokyo bay harbour, while CN overlooks the Niagara lake...t'was cloudy when I was there, but I'm leaning towards the CN tower
There's a difference between 'Tower' and 'Building' The Burj Khalifa has an interior (and floors) skytree has a structure and an observation deck, making it a tower, not a building.
The Burj Khalifa is taller, yes, but it is a building not a tower. Tokyo Skytree is the tallest TOWER in the world. Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world.
:-) Yeah, that's true, but while it is called Khalifa Tower, it doesn't fit the engineering definition of a tower. A tower does not include skyscrapers and can not be for living in or office work. I only know this because of Wikipedia. LOL.
Like I said to the other guy, Burj Khalifa is the tallest building, but Tokyo Skytree is the tallest tower. The Burj Khalifa is taller than Tokyo Skytree, it's true, but one is considered a building and one is considered a tower.

Cool elevator and Tokyo spreads as far as you can see! Looking forward to visiting the Skytree in June.

Just added your video to my "Things to do in Tokyo" playlist. 😀
Remarkable. How they build such towers.
this is so COOL - very nice vid
That's not the skytree observatory, that's a 158m office building standing near the main tower.
Sadly when I went up the Skytree it was foggy, but still Tokyo's view is incredible
thank you
This isn't the skytree! That's the 30th floor of the east tower where the restaurants are!
If I would go alone in the lift my heart would have been failed
cool vid :)

In France I saw people flying paper airplanes off of the eiffel tower but I would imagine they arrest you for that in Japan!

There are two observatory decks. I think the uploading was on the 350m deck instead of the 450-meter observatory deck.

I would have a panic attack riding the elevator

Actually, there are towers bigger than the skytree. The warsaw mast could clearly top the list of tallest TOWERS.
It's not the tallest though is it......
1:11 I'd like to jump... *^*
no skytree
Scared..
Of what?
Mouskell maybe earthquake maybe the height of the tower
There's litteraly like 1 in 5 million chance that there will be an earthquake while you're there.
Plus the tower isn't very high...

ELEVATORS ARE TERRIFING AND YOU ARE LIKE HUNDREDS OF FEET UP IN THE AIR WITH ONLY A THIN LAYER OF GLASS
The burj kalifa is the tallest
Tallest building, which is different than a tower.
+Sir Sayaka Miki the 3rd Still, there are radio towers taller than the skytree
+Liam Prince nope
+Sir Sayaka Miki the 3rd May I remind you the Warsaw mast rose to 2100 feet..
+Alex Plays Video Games May I remind you it is no longer standing.
