For the last 4 weeks I have been cleaning out 2 freezers of produce from this years growing seasons and canning everything that could be canned as well as upwards of 40-50 lbs each of beef and chicken. Without blinking an eye I have probably gained 3-6 months of shelf stable food. I am already planning next years planting and have a side of beef coming in in about 4 weeks.

love this! I just found out that I have three weeks until we should be able to pickup our half cow from the butcher...um, both my freezers are stuffed with other food! Family challenge: eat frozen food. Leave canned and box stuff alone as much as possible. It occurred to me that this is the perfect opportunity to have guests over for meals!

I am currently creating a huge stock take spreadsheet, everything from toiletries, cleaning products, food, medical. I am trying to work out how much of each item I use in a month to work out how much I need to store X

I think it’s genius to do freezer/pantry challenges. There are so many people storing food and not rotating and using. Some people don’t realize it’s a continuous process.

I love this series and it has inspired me to inventory my freezers and use all the mystery items I found near the bottom. I’m looking forward to seeing you make your tortillas. This is on my list to learn as I only need to make enough for the two of us.

I plan to do a pantry challenge January and February next year. I couldn't pass up the baking sales last week. But I'm pretty much done shopping for Dec. I just told my kids I'd buy pomegranates when Aldi has them on sale this month yet.

I love how you organized your freezer. I will find some clear plastic containers to organize mine. You had some really yummy meals. Your pantry barely looks touched after a week of eating from it.

I checked up my pantry in autumn and cleaned out my freezer in November. I also went through my longterm basic storage crates to see if everything is still fine; apart from one soysaucebottle that had leaked (I stored these elsewhere since), no problems. I will do this challenge in January, as Christmas is coming up and I profit from the special offers on rather luxury food I would not be able to afford in normal times here in France. However, I prepared a lot of ingredients that came close to the best buy date and was happy to see that in three years of prepping I had to throw out only one bottle of ketchup, lol! PS. I admit that I prep for survival, as I'm afraid the grand solar minimum will destroy harvests on a huge scale worldwide and produce a lot of inflation, shrinkflation and other miseries. Be safe, and prepare! You did an awesome cooking job this week!! Blessings from France!

I didn't do a pantry challenge, because I only buy to replace what I use. A steady stock on-hand.
I do see where the pantry challenges are useful to use up close to best buy dates.
I may have commented before that I have a basket of within 3 months to use by date. I've found that extremely helpful to meal planning.
Congrats to the men on their deer!

Awesome video!! You all did awesome this week!! Like you, our family of 4 didn't go through nearly as much as I thought we would this past week. We finished off turkey leftovers, made a roasted chicken that lasted a few days with different meals, and have been eating a lot of soups and sandwiches for lunches. This week I do plan on making a big pot of lima beans, making another roasted chicken for a few meals, and making a big pot of veggie and hamburger stew. I don't think we need to go to the grocery store this week for everything thank goodness. I can't wait to see what you guys use up this next week!! Thank you so much for sharing!!

I just found your channel this morning before going to work. I like the idea about keeping cottage cheese in the freezer. That would be handy for lasagna. I just need to process the 7 - 8 gallon size bags of my tomatoes from this year's garden first. LOL

I love this challenge and will be watching and learning during this month so I can have my own pantry and freezer challenge for January and February. I carefully tracked what we used last month and feel confident that a twice monthly trip for some fresh produce and dairy products will be all that is necessary…and we could probably get by without them if we absolutely had to.

There is also a Monday night live through Sutton's Daze. I am hoping one day that my pantry looks like yours! My grandson 4 years old wanted my macaroni and cheese cups and it took two people to get them down from the top. My last helper made it a mess in there and now it has to be fixed! Anyway I thought I would let you know about Monday night chatting live. We are a fun little group they gave away canning lids all the month of January which is canuary. I was always a day late and a dollar short hahaha!

I’m surprised at how little food we go through also. We are a family of three adults (college age son) and it is even difficult sometimes to finish say a normal sized piece of meat, etc. you would buy at a store. I will cook a pork roast or something and we will be eating it all week. A bagged salad will go bad before we eat it all, etc. My son and I are light eaters and my husband is an average eater I would say.

The word is spelled “hoarding” and we’re actually a pretty minimalistic family. We have 8 children and we live in the country. After everything that happened in grocery stores over the last 2 years, I would think everyone in the world would see the value in having 3-6 months of food storage, but I guess some people never learn.
