Honestly I love watching your videos out of everything out there you have been the biggest help with my start of diving in to the the rabbit hole of painting miniatures also laughing my ass off with your one liners like absolute fanny
Cool to see you acknowledge the whole "wow this is crap" when it doesn't look crap to a newbie (like me, haha). I kinda knew you were just rambling so it didn't discourage me at all but I wasn't sure how someone else would have reacted to that! As a matter of fact, your video on your Army Painter Fanatic starter set encouraged me to get the same very set and now I've painted 9 minis! First one I made was absolute dogshit but I think I'm getting better which each mini! Now I'm waiting for my Age of Sigmar Dominion box to come in the mail so I can start painting those too. Thanks for the laughs and encouragement!
Aw man that is really great to hear - honestly, it did worry me as I realised my flippancy and sarcasm was potentially annoying people, but hopefully people will see it's just me being a big idiot anyway :) - So glad you liked up the AP set, it's great!!
Your skill shouldn't be discouraging; it should help people strive to do better as well It got me into trying a few techniques I never would otherwise even attempt
I agree - I guess some people have less self confidence and need active encouragement :) - I'm glad you find my stuff motivating enough to try new things though - that's great to hear!!
I’m a pre-beginner.. haven’t even got as far as buying a starter set yet.. but your videos are brilliant and your style is perfect. This being the internet there will always be people misinterpreting things but please do keep doing what you’re doing.
A conclusion i take from these videos is that "the difference between alex and me, besides an eloquent vocabulary and a badass accent, is not in the paints or the set of paints and tools i use. its the amount of practice. it keeps me from overspending and gets me back to the paint table to try again."
That's a pretty good take away - I can't (and wouldn't) judge your accent or eloquence - but if you've not been painting as long, it's just a matter of keeping at it - thanks for the kind comment!! :)
I’m confused. You’re right, they’re liberators. I must have seen vindictors mentioned somewhere and assumed wrongly, then just said that all along. Shows how much I know about stormcast!!
skipped to the end first to see the result, love how number 2 has that old, pitted effect. Must have taken ages to do. Perhaps make a tutorial on it? Or I could watch from the beginning :p
Honestly Loved the 3rd one it was more a speed paint which I understand that might be good if you want really get a full army on the table. Though I understand where your talking about the battered hammered look from the second one It looked really good but I do understand your frustration with the primer. Not much for Aos But it's not about the Range it's about the painting right? :D
Ah man, that's tough - I don't know who will serve you down there - BUT - if you have a good line on brushes, or know of any good, affordable kolinsky sable sets - let me know (Discord if you can) so I can help people down under source good brushes too! :)
See now you mention it, I'm thinking there's scope for this as an intentional effect. Bob Rossing the fuck out of the minis game with a "happy little accident"
Despite the texture from the brown, I like #2.
The gold armor seems “golder” than its counterparts and it’s a good look.
Yeah, I think it's the brown basecoat but it's coming off as sort of battered old gold which is kind of strangely working :)
Nearly peed my pants when you tried to pick up that base x)
I swear it happens all the time :D

haha, I'm so glad to hear it!!! Thank you :)
i think you nailed the hammered metal look with that second one ;)
a few people have said the same - now I just need to figure out how to harness it and do it consistently!! :D

Cracker vid Alex! Always so much fun. I’d never hear that variant of filling boots either so loving that 😂
I'm new to painting and I'm all about these videos! Thanks for making them!
No problem!!
100 percent would watch a 10 minute video of you swearing about trying to pick up a base 🤣🤣🤣
haha, honestly they're an absolute bitch to pick up!! :D

Thank you - I appreciate that, and welcome to the hobby! :)

Those are Liberators, not Vindictors Brother. Besides that great job, the third does indeed look amazing!

Loving the T-Shirt 👏👌
Yeah it's great! Warhammer sell them in a few colours on their website :)
@alexpaintstinythings getting a selection of those then 😁...back to your video 😎👍
thanks for 4k :D
Big up!

THe second one took the shortest time dude - haha - check it out, you won't be disappointed :D
I like to think the feller in the middle just has roughly forged armour because it was all he could afford
Yeah he has to get his armour second hand basically :)
Could you please paint one of those Epic Encounters 5E bosses miniatures please? Love watching your videos. I find them extremely helpful
Absolutely - I have the Serpent Folk box coming in the post right now, so I have lined up a video for them soon!
Maybe I should get rid of my stack of 20 year old montana gold cans :')
…on eBay, sold as “texture spray” haha
🤣😂🤣😂at Stormcast number 2. Thank you Luke 👏👏👌
You are hilarious, and I love watching you
Thank you :)
Sry but the concept of "The Starter Set Guy" is probably one of the best things to get new people into painting. 🤔
I know, I guess I just didn't start the channel thinking I'd end up doing them all haha - I'm keen to paint other stuff too :D
the brown primer one turned out realy grimdark, wouldnt call that a desaster
Yeah it has its charm for sure :)

Speed paint is great for getting your army on the table yeah - absolutely :)
Hawk miniatures posts to Europe and the US. 👍👍
Me living in Australia 😢👍👍

I have a can of 10 year old Montana Black. I think I'll shake it up and spray a throwaway mini and see if I get the same result! Hilarious!
Ooh nice. Let me know how it goes haha
JesusChristing at that base...adorable
every, bloody, time too. haha :D
You migt be on to something with the metal on the second minuture...
See now you mention it, I'm thinking there's scope for this as an intentional effect. Bob Rossing the fuck out of the minis game with a "happy little accident"
