Hey there! I'm pretty new to using fountain pens and I've got a few questions. For some context, the best writing experience I've had was when using the G nib on the x450 Jinhao. It seems like the feed might be holding back the ink flow because I often get railroading. Do you think the Asvine V200 with the G nib would be a better match for me than the x450? Thanks for your help!
Hello, from my personal experience the G nibs on x450 unit has been quite bad. The feed can't keep up. I got mine from Flexible nib factory---I got the bock nib housing that fits right into Asvine V200. It is much better. Bonus tip, bet titanium G nibs from Amz as they don't decay after just 2 days of use ;). Welcome to the hobby. I hope you enjoy!
It took me 3 hrs to take the nib out of that housing(mine is in jowo #6 from the same company), so I put the nib back in my nib holder and probably will stick to it......
@@Shak-MD Were you able to pull that nib and feeder out that easily the first time (I even heat-set the housing part just to make it softer)? I was wondering if it will loosen up over time.
The problem with these nibs being attached to fountain pens is that they're meant perhaps for calligraphy and work better with an oblique holder rather than a straight one or in a fountain pen. Also these G nibs being very scratchy look a bit too hard to get a control of and produce really fine hairlines which seems counterintuitive for a fountain pen.
@@Shak-MD Sweet, just ordered some housing and zebra from them. I don’t own a kyuseido kakari (yet) but i didn’t realize that they had these housing… I will get myself a V200 with Bock :)
The Zebra G nib is a bit too scratchy for me. I have heard that Nikko G is better in this regard. Although I haven't tried it yet. I have tried the pumpkin nib (the Hiro 40; haven't tried the Braus Steno yet) and it's significantly better. I recently had the idea to try it on a pen. I am not sure whether you or anybody has done it yet
Would like to confirm that yeah, the Nikko G is definitely smoother than the zebra G nib and for a beginner it's better since it's easier to control and it produces better hairlines.
That's a great combination of nib and pen. Fair price point, cheaper than a Mag600. Do you have a source of the Leonardt Principal nib being successfully married to a fountain pen? It would be my GOAT pen!!
Thanks! Unfortunately I don't have a source for Leonardt. Though, I'm sure Flexible Nib Factory folks can be commissioned to make it happen. I guess Zebra nibs are somewhat more popular, and Titanium versions available easier---my guess. I'll ask them next time I correspond. Thanks for watching and following my channel!
Oh, my! My dream Franken-pen! The Zebra g is so fine, it does tend to dig into the paper. Beautiful writing as always. Thanks for sharing this! 👏
My pleasure! I'm glad you liked it.
Hey Shak. Which one did you specifically buy on their website? There are several to choose from? Is it the, 'Non converter Bock 250?'
Non converter 250.

I must avoid Jowo offerings then.

@@ivanwu6258 If you warm it, it will come out. Dont heat the section
Sometimes they are hard to get. Make sure it is mounted on a pen before pulling.
@@Shak-MD omg maybe that's why

Oblique would be nice. The Zebra G does a great job at hairlines. Just need some getting used to.
Where did you get this nib unit? And are you using it with the Asvine nib or with the Bock version of the V200?
I got it from flexible nib factory. I use the jowo nib on kyuseido kakari pen. I also use the bock version in the asvine v200.

@@ChrisGVE Kyuseido pen takes Jowo #6.
Did you get the bock nib or the asvine nib? Did you swap the nib housing or just the feed/nib?? I want to do this!
They sell the whole unit for both bock and jowo. This was a Jowo 6.
does it matter which version youhave? bock or asvine?
They both accept Bock housing...so not really.

I love steno. I like ZG because of the nib unit. It also gets great hair lines. Scratchy, yes :).

Very cool opening
Thanks!
This is really ASMR!❤
😀 1/2 ASMR due to music...I made that up. .
So... You don't need any mods to the pen, do you?.. just install and go?
No. Just the nib unit. I got 20 pack of Zebra G titanium nibs from amz. Lofe is good 😀

Judging by the sound, the king is naked
Hahahah 😀 Good one!
The sound makes me want to die, but the resulting writing is beautiful.
