Klopp managed three clubs so far, Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool. And he managed to become an Icon and a legend at each of them. He was never fired and everyone was sad to seem him leave. Show me someone else who managed that. As a Borussia Dortmund fan, I know how Liverpool supporters feel today. YNWA

I also remember that when Fergie announced he was retiring at the end of the season Man U fell to pieces so badly that he went back on it and stayed for a few more seasons. Then, to avoid a similar effect, when he really did retire it was done suddenly at the end of a season with no prior announcement.
I wonder, if Klopp just needs some time to rest before returning to football as we all assume is the case, then this might be a good opportunity to get the Gerrard situation off their back. Give Gerrard one season and if he underwhelms then maybe Klopp can return rejuvenated. It doesn't help a club to have a former great player hanging over their head clouding the managerial situation the way Mr Shearer did for us at Newcastle for all those years after he stopped playing. The best thing about him taking us down as Manager was at least it was over with. No more rumours in the press because he'd had his chance and we could finally move on. I realise the two situations aren't really parallel because Gerrard is actually a career manager, whereas I'm not even sure if Alan has even done his badges, but still he was a similar anvil round our necks for a while.
Food for thought, if it turns out they can't get Alonso.

He is one of the few coaches, who have never been kicked from their club.
In his last season, Dortmund was dead last after the winter break.
I feel like they finshed 5th or 6th.
There was no person calling for Klopp to be removed when we were last.

Yes but as a neutral Liverpool is a massive club with a massive uk fanbase and over 65 trophies to show for it? A European DNA unmatched? City on the other hand was a club that was no bigger than everton? Was not in the top divisions for multiple decades? In 2024 still way less popular than spurs with a substantially smaller UK fanbase than west ham? Hence the two are incomparable? Chelsea would be a more reasonable comparison for city as they are cut from the same cloth and have almost the same amount of trophies?

Ancelotti has extended his contract at Real Madrid. Bayern is going to be off putting to a few younger managers who have opportunities elsewhere after what happened with the last ‘up and coming’ manager who went there. Plus they have a number of aging players in their squad.

Its not even just about his exceptional managerial ability but his personality and passion. I dont care who we get in, they won't match his emotion, his passion, personality and love for his players.
Im 35 and I know our greatest ever manager in my lifetime will be finished in 4 months. Extremely sad.

He is leaving in the same way like he left Mainz and Dortmund.
You will not see him again in the PL or in the Bundesliga.
He said it himself that he couldn't work for a other club in England only LFC.
In Germany it is the same because BVB.
He will never go to Bayern.
He might be one day the coach of Germany but only when he has 110 % energy.
    Heja BVB

He's our generations Bill Shankly, he's returned the club to heights not scene since the 80s all while playing beautiful football with intensity, passion and grace. Seeing him leave is going to feel like loosing a family member. Without doubt he'll have a statue outside of Anfield and will forever be one the clubs all time greats.

I can tell you now as a LFC fan, Klopp's celebrations and touch line antics have NEVER been annoying or antagonizing. It might be for an opposition fan but I literally couldnt care less about what those fans think. In fact, if it pisses you off - good. He's was never doing it for you, he was doing it for his team and fans - if it riled you up as an opponent then happy days.

Guys. Remember '74 when Shanks left we thought it was 'the end'? Then in steps Paisley to lead us to the most successful period in our history! Klopp's groundwork may be the inspiration to push us onto a similar road to success! And if it's to fall to Xabi to be the next Paisley then all the better! YNWA.

As a Arsenal fan the last 40yrs iv got nothing but respect for klopp, the job he done at Liverpool is incredible. The team were mid table when he arrived, benteke scored first goal under his reign. In some way he reminds me of wenger who rebuilt the infrastructure and was successful.
Enjoy your break klopp and after the 4th of February i look forward to not facing you again in the Premier League

Good for him, he's not been the same since he lost his Mum. The last year or two people have been calling him a "moaner" where you could see he was unhappy which I fet was a bit shortsighted.
I work in mental health and have had my own journey, I support United, but even as a rival fan he'll be missed in England.
The dream would be him managing England national, but pigs might fly lol.
    Good luck to him!

Hi Gary, Allan, Micha, Love your Pod its trezmendos!!
I've just watched the Tottenham -Man City game and had to comment. Has a Leeds fan living in New Zealand i believe the game has gone soft and TV orientated.
The one thing that has me most frustrated is the state of the game when it comes to refereeing, VAR, Gamesmanship and the now lack of allowed physical contact in the game. I remember my paying days, the likes of Terry Butcher and numerous other players Keen, Vinny Jones where on pitch battles were had. I'm disgusted that both players and officials are now having a ballerina approach to every challenge, with players going down holding there head when clearly they haven't been hurt resulting in stopped play and generally the referee giving a free kick to the dramatic unhurt party. I would love to know your thoughts guy's

Not many managers get to leave on a high, even if they leave on their own terms. It’s great that he can go out flying. He deserves it.
Players only found out today, hopefully this galvanises them to push on the rest of the season and win everything they can for him.

Am gutted and I do question the timing of all this. The players and fans have been on such a high and the mood has just changed completely. If he'd announed he was definitely going in 2026 that would have been painful enough but this is sickening. I do think there's a bit more to it as he mentioned when he told his wife there was also private reasons he spoke with her about. As a fan who attends games and was buzzing this season I am now not looking forward to attending at all.

Klopp made every player at LFC. The only exception is Thiago, who was already world class.
From VVD, Allison and Salah to Robbo, Matip + Trent - all have become world class BECAUSE of Klopp - they owe him everything. Lets hope they can return the favor and get him some trophies this season since he's been cheated out of 2019 and 2022's titles. Any other era and Klopp wouldve won 3 PL titles...
