I’m excited for MH dolls that have been leaking I do wish we would get more characters I honestly feel like by the end of 2023 I’m going to have so many Frankie, Clawdeen, Draculaura, Cleo & Lagoona dolls. I think I’m most excited for Abbey, Clawd, Skelita, monster ball Clawdeen & wave 2 skulltimate secrets Clawdeen & Cleo. Hoping to be able to order Spectra when she goes up on Mattel creations 🤞🤞🤞

I pretty much LOVE all of the g3 dolls leaked recently. Even the ones I dont love I still view highly i'm all aboard the g3 train. There are a few practical reasons for that. Getting g1 dolls is SO hard or SO expensive that makes it just easier to focus on dolls that will be easily accessible and available. Reason 2 is g3 started off well but its clearly getting better. So even g3 naysayers will possibly come to a point where even they will want a specific g3 doll or two
I think we’re all proof that monster high did something right because we’re all still here after playing/collecting with them when we were kids and now collecting and playing with them grown up

I notice their slowly reverting back to the old dolls style which make question why they even changed it. Clawdeen and lagoona beening the most obvious
Lagoona is slowly transitioning to wearing more blue and Clawdeen more animal print. The whole monster ball is an ode to sweet 16
Edit: I know the girls still have their original colors and print but with the rebrand they change their style and the color and prints clashed with it. Not to mention they downplayed cleo
Not to go full conspiracy theory, but now I wonder (read: hope) the initial G3 launches were some kinda Trojan Horse to shut the Karens up and they’ll slowly get back to the normal non-infantilizing dolls. Said it on other channels, but the fact that Generation “The Black Lesbian Wasn’t Oppressed Enough” still let Clawdeen wear a suit is already a pleasant shock.

the only issue with the whole “inflation” and “has to cut the designs” is that rainbow high gives 100% quality for $4 more, and usually there dolls are always on sale for 25 dollars. It’s mattel being lazy, rainbow high is going to beat them to death
I used to be a big Monster High fan when I was younger, but honestly Rainbow High and Lol Omg have won me over because the quality and designs 💕

@@BlooLynx Same here. That and scalpers aren't quick to rob doll collectors of RH content since there's so many of them always in stock for a generous price. I gave up on MH for the main reason of scalpers ruining it for the people collecting them for fun😔.

I think my problem with the collector dolls is and has always been the fact Mattel doesn’t respond to the fans. Ever. Not even a quick “We hear what you’re saying.” It’s complete radio silence all the time. Or the company is just commenting on it’s own instagram posts to itself, patting itself on the back (but no response to fan comments).

the ones running the account are really wacky people. one time they liked and supported a comment that implied whoever disliked the g3 should unalive themselves. and they dont even announce the dolls properly.. in every single post, people are screaming about resellers but not one have they replied/liked a comment while they like and reply to corny compliments in the same post. theyre literally ignoring everything and i hope they get fired asap

I find that when fans are obsessed with a doll they like that it's true to the og characters style/ aesthetic just updated to be more like the current fashion. We love the og's and they can introduce new ideas while staying true to MH quality and detail!!
Love this take!! I think the reason Haunt Couture is one of my personal all time faves is they took modern elements and elevated the characters we already know. A few years back i did a video 'How Monster High would dress today' and I think Skulltimate Secrets 2 is a step in that direction
Even with the G3 dolls, the ones I love feel more sturdy and diverse. But they can still hold true to the original outfits and quality in style while using modern fashion, designs, makeup, etc!! I wish some characters were not completely changed and made to feel like they just walked out of a mall catalog.
I believe one of the reason why the G3 Abbey doll is so good is that she looks older. I'm not sure if it's the face sculpt or the body type/height or both but she physically looks older and it makes a world of difference.
I definitely love her body type and height and agree that those aspects make her look "older"? In a way I suppose, I would say it just overall sets her apart from the other monsters in diversifying the bodies and sizes so it's a major plus. However her face sculpt does the opposite of what you're describing imo lmao it makes her look significantly younger and in fact makes her look way too much like every other one of the feminine monsters. Abbey is my favorite monster from Monster High and I honestly am so disappointed that her sharp jawline, underbite and other harsher features have been axed for this softer rounder face. All of Monster High g1 and g2 had great diversity in face sculpts with lots of fun sharp designs but Abbey was always a standout for very specifically showing feminine and masculine coinciding in a very realistic way, idk it just makes me sad to lose that bit of diversity and representation, it was my favorite part about Abbey aside from her deep voice. She was just such a great character to show you don't have to look or act or sound traditionally feminine to still BE feminine and we've lost that with g3 Abbey. But that's just my opinion, the fashion I def think has improved a touch.
I feel that way about G1 Spectra, those cheekbones! 🥰
And why all the hype for Draculaura? She's pretty, I don't hate her, but what made her the star?
Now, with her pink and black theme? If Mattel ever launched a Betsey Johnson collaboration Draculaura Skullector doll? I'm pulling out my plastic...👍💰
Thank you for bringing up the hate that was brought to influencers for receiving PR 😭 I had people finding my personal email to email me hate for receiving the dolls, I got THREATS about receiving the dolls, the hate was insane and it destroyed my mental health as a smaller influencer at the time 😭💗
I didn’t want to come off as spoiled for complaining about the hate I got for the drops, but each time I posted I would have such bad anxiety knowing the backlash would be really bad 😭

I have to start by saying thank you so much for watching! Your support means the world! Secondly, you never deserved to have your safety compromised for receiving a gift. I've actually been studying media misrepresentation and humiliation (which there's very limited information on but Dr. Christine Marie has an entire dissertation on the matter) and how these types of experiences can actually lead some people to develop PTSD symptoms. It's unfortunately far too common with social media. The experience of being harassed in mass by multiple people can feel scary, unfair, and threatening. I wish I could give you the biggest hug, and I hope you received the support you deserve during those times.

Finally someone mentioned about the consistency of complaints whenever a doll is launched, i recently joined in on collecting after being a childhood fan. I've joined a few groups and whenever a doll is launched there's nothing but complaints but people then complain when they cant get the doll either i've had to stop reading posts cause the majority is constant negativity.
I agree. Everyone wishes so many details of the dolls were different. They should make their own. Constant criticism.

I remember walking into my local
Walmart and finding the booriginals on the shelf and being so excited and then a lady came up and literally screamed with excitement saying OMG i had these as a kid and grabbed one of each doll - smiling the whole time! It was so fun to see other adults like myself being excited about these dolls - definitely resonated deep for us!
As an adult I prefer play line dolls because I unbox them and pose them anyway - the face screenings should be good, the paint shouldn't chip, and the fashions shouldn't be such poor quality that they rip... just basic quality control stuff (like not getting two left shoes - or feet!). I really love the cuter designs of G3, but the worst thing about ALL of the doll releases is how difficult they are to obtain. I've pretty much given up on the possibility of getting anything but basic core play line because I live in the UK and refuse to pay over the odds to scalpers.
The only serious complaint I have about Gen 3 is that the dolls don't look like there animated counterparts. The styles are too WIDELY different. Which makes sense, because if the dolls looked like their animated counterparts, they wouldn't sell. So yeah, yeah there is a reason they did that, but it's the inconsistency that really bugs me. The animated series SHOULD look like the animated music videos they did, those actually look like the dolls. Very pretty too.
Edit: big kisses and thank-yous to the people in the comments that helped clarified things for me, you guys are sweet. But that brings up the question, why the hell did the earlier Monster High generations nail both gen 1 and gen two when it came to matching the models and the dolls when this current Monster High generation keeps mix matching things? Different companies be damned, you would think they would actually keep each other up-to-date on the designs, this is just screwed? It just seems pug fugly to me in a way, not in like an ugly way but in a "y'all need to get your goddamn shit together" way.
Well judging by the fact that Nickelodeon is making the show and not Mattel?
That's the reason.
The designers of the animated series are given a lot of freedom with the designs they are allowed to fully change hairstyles sometimes (like with Toriel the creators of the show asked the designers to change it from the doll on purpose to fit her character) and parts of the outfit the creators don’t care that much about them being super accurate also the designers for the series seem to be given older designs sometimes that is changed a ton for the final doll for example cleo and lagoona are wearing almost their exact outfits from their prototype dolls with only the colors changing to make them look a least a little similar to what the final dolls look like
i feel like that’s one of the reasons why they launched the webisodes on youtube (the mystery solving one) where the looks are more consistent to the doll designs. but also, the show was already in the works, before the final doll designs were made, so there’s also that. the creators merely relied on the concept arts (unlike in the webisodes, that were created after the launch)
@jaredrblx4940 what I heard is that Toralei has shorter hair in the show because it's easier to animate.
I don’t even mind differences between art styles in a series, but… there’s no quality in the 3D models. They’re ugly. They’re not high quality enough to change the artstyle well enough. I have similar complaints with other series who do this and don’t make up for the lack in quality
I’m studying character design and I think the problem with Midnight Frankie is that there’s no area of rest. Practically every part of the look is trying to be the focal point which leads to the design feeling cluttered and overwhelming to the eye. I think any one of the outfit’s components on their own look nice, though. There were a lot of good ideas that just needed to be edited in my opinion

I adore the new Abby doll. She was the fist gen 1 doll I ever got and I am so happy she’s coming back with such a similar look to her original. I do wish she looked a little more like the animated series though
For me personally, I don't necessarily like to buy the same doll over and over again just because of a new outfit. I always thought it would be cool to sell the outfit separately, but I know they want to make money.
As for the Haunt Couture, I have no interest in those, but I tried and failed to order Pennywise, the Twins, Beetlejuice, etc. I was so sad I missed out on Elvira too and I was waiting on my computer that day and still couldn't get one. I wish they would sell those damn dolls in stores instead of this pre-order crap.
Or do a proper preorder. Preorders are supposed to see how many people want it and make that much. And make it for a little while not speed buy.
We really miss the G1 dolls and how accessible they were compared to now. (More difficult and wayyy pricier, I wish they were the same price as G3 dolls and we’re in stores) G3 dolls are easier to get in stores but in my opinion they do not compare to the originals.
The fact that both the Howliday Love pack and the HCMR Frankie doll are both still up for pre-order, literal weeks after release, just tells you everything you need to know about everyone’s opinion on them💀💀
international fan here - more importantly, south american collector. the price of these things is ASTONISHING and the fact that they don't even care enough about us and won't stock creepros, g3 or reel drama here. the reboot, skullector and g1 new dolls NEVER HAPPENED HERE. they love to screw us over. it's sad.
It also happens in some european countries :') I find that buying Azone or Pullips from Japan or even BJD are easier to obtain than MH v':
I just have three MH that my parents gift me when I was a child and two that I just recently acquired... While I have almost 18 asian limited artdolls!
I feel like people are forgetting how the skulkectors work. I collect them. I think they’re lacklustre (especially with the last two releases) but I do like them. However they don’t SELL OUT, bots buy them for resale so fast actual fans can’t. I couldn’t believe I was so lucky to get the Elvira doll after finding out almost no fans got her and it was all bots. I wasn’t happy with her design but I still bought her. (Also yeah 3:30am launch in Australia was ROUGH)

The part where it’s said “Monster high clearly did something right if people are still coming back to it all these years later” that part is so true for me. I remember being really little and holding a Gen 1 Frankie doll at my cousins house, I was in love with how beautiful she was but I wasn’t allowed to play with her because “Boys shouldn’t play with dolls” (ugh🙄) fast forward a few years later and I now own 7 Gen 3 dolls and I love every single one of them, I can never forget this amazing brand ❤
I get it, but it wasn't really true for me.
I've always loved fashion and a little bit of spookster imagery. These dolls were not my target demographic as a teen, but I used them as an excuse to "give to my sisters". Fast forward to now they're treated like tiny art sculptures in my home.
I have a friend who is a cis male and he adored monster high when it came out and wanted to own one. Now he has like over 10 dolls now a mix of g3 and g1s he found online
As someone who is from Europe, I really wanted the haunted couture Draculaura doll or a collector doll in general and sadly I never had the chance to purchase one due to the fact that it's soooo hard. I'm happy that the gen3 dolls are somewhat starting to look better!
I am super pumped about the Clawd and Abby dolls! Though waiting for the Skulltimate Secrets line is a bit annoying as they ALL look gorgeous! Though I always saw Greta as THE BEST skullector doll ever to release out of all of them.
TASTE!! Greta is severely underrated. I would say if we're seperating Skullector from Haunt Couture, Greta is also my favorite.

I personally love the monster ball dolls. Especially Draculaura! And it just seems like people can't make up their minds about what they want. Unfortunately it is difficult to get high quality and good prices with inflation.
The lower-cost dolls with fewer accessories are perfect for my almost 4 yr. Fewer accessories I have to keep locked away from her. Now for my 6 yr old niece, I love buying more accessorized dolls for her. Honestly I would love to buy some of the more accessorized dolls for myself.
yes thats the point! worse quality on playline dolls is expected, theyre made for little children, them being more detailed could even be a health hazard for a toddler. but collector lines are literally for adults that collect. theyre supposed to BE PRETTY and to some extent a sort of art piece, or a singular and cool thing that stands out, like when u collect pokemon cards and u get the special ones u dont want them to be drawn on Paint MS!!

Not feeling Frankie’s look but Cleo’s is - yes. I love her mask and the whole vibe. It’s always nice when they lean heavily into the ancient Egyptian aesthetic (that two pack with her and ghoulia lives in my dreams) though I’m super bummed in general as dolls of any Gen haven’t really been in stores around me yet
I think for the frankie that did not sell out, don’t forget about the recession !! Overpriced dolls are not a priority in the economy ! Its starting to show in a lot of areas. (Excuse my english i speak French) love your channel !!! ❤
Thank you so much for watching! I think it's also important to note that we JUST passed holiday season so the doll is being released at a time where things are naturally slow. I think it's difficult with so many variables as to why or why not a doll may not sell out, though I do think I'd attribute it mostly to the doll not meeting what we've come to know of the Haunt Couture line.

Monster high dolls hold a special place for me, I grew up on horror movies and monster movies, like no joke, my dad had me watching them by the time I was 5 years old, and he will proudly admit it, my favorite movies were the Crow, and The rocky Horror picture Show, I was obsessed with Zombies, Vampires, and Ghosts, I have some old fashion victim dolls from the living dead doll series, but when Spencer's closed in canada I had no way of getting anymore, and I didn't find out about Monster high dolls until they were off the shelves, so the fact they are back and I now have a chance to collect something that I have waited 34 years for I hope they make it excessable to people who have felt like outcasts

Tbh most of the dolls are fine, the major problem is the colours get kinda tacky and the material is so cheap you can see it from a five meter distance. Abbey is a slay tho

I like the g3 dolls better than the g1 dolls but some of the g3 lines should’ve been fashion packs in my opinion(creepover party specifically). I also think it’d be cool if they made fashion packs of the old outfits made to fit the new dolls or if they made the old doll designs in the new doll style. I like most of the g1 outfits better than the g3 ones. Draculaura is my favorite g3 so far. If we get g3 Rochelle, Spectra, Robecca, Iris, Howleen, and Wydowna that’d be awesome!! They’re six of my favorites!
Also just found out Abby has a back story change. Being mixed with Russian, Mongolian, and black. I am All excited. I personally am okay with it. I love her even more!

I was deeply invested with Monster High Lore but it's hard to tell which one is canon or non-canon, like after the return of the ghouls with diaries it brought so nostalgia and tea then we suddenly had gen 3 which somewhat connected to gen 1 lore, I am really hoping they continue gen 1 lore instead of gen 3 (not really fan of it)

Love the G3 Abbey, like the Monster Ball looks...besides Lagoona's dress...sorry girl. I only collect boy dolls, so I want more Deuce lol. Wish Deuce got a Skulltimate Secrets doll. His snake hair does pose problems in my mind though. It's very flat colored and can't be restyled. If there was some way they could be bendable into different shapes and not look bizarre...that'd probably be ideal. If not, at least try to paint some details onto the snakes like in the show. They have striping and colored eyes. His face is just kind of boring otherwise. Could still give him some makeup or earrings...
YESSS!! I want them to switch up Deuce's hair so bad. I'd love to see them try to put in a bun, or pulled forward in a more 'messy look'. Hopefully they'll introduce Heath, Gil, Slomo etc. as dolls soon as your collection of Mansters can grow!!
My Cleo Clan really needs a good quality Duece. I like the Valentines one, but I'm seriously disappointed with the Cleo

This is my first time seeing the Abbey. I've been waiting for Abbey to come back in gen 3 and if that leak ends up being the final, you bet I'll be constantly checking my local store to get her! She is my favorite!

Great to see you again love the outfit. I think the "its for kids" argument is a dead one. I also grew up with the Nutcracker Rapunzel +Swanlake Barbies. I remember Bratz coming out and me slamming those other dolls down just because the fashion spoke to me in a different way. Is this current gen going to be the thing kids see in a box and go running for? Im a new collector myself so I cant speak on anything gen1 or even 2. G3 is great I love it. Seeing characters w a fresh coat of paint is always fun. My issue really lies on getting these things to shelves. I know buying online is the "norm" now but where I live the shelfspace is RULED by Rainbow High. You have to specifically look for the corner that MH has been shoved into. I'd love for the brand to continue- Im really looking for those Skulltimate dolls myself (it'd be fun to get them.. at all). However I really worry for the long term plan for the brand. It seems caught up in a lot of things and its almost getting visible on the dolls if that makes sense. Then again I guess kids arent going to notice that..or are they?? Isnt the surprise gimmick still running extremely strong? If kids are the conversation they dont care about any of the rh/mh inbetween. they like their little collectable figurines.

monster high and ever after high, changed my childhood and the dolls I played with. I went from playing with Disney Princess dolls, and the Barbie dolls from the early 2000s based off the fairy tale movies.
To playing with ever after high dolls. and it’s stayed with me for years. I don’t have the dolls I played with as a child anymore all broken. Put I still have the clothes inside a ever after high lunchbox.
I’m slowly building up my collection I know I can’t get every doll. But I’m collecting things that meant the world to me as a child

I think the reason Frankie isn't selling out is because Mattel might have finally figured out how to keep the scalpers out and the same amount of fans are ordering the doll as before
I was an adult when MH started and i still became a collector, so not all collectors are born from children who love a toy so much that it carries on into adulthood 😅
I love G3 Abbey's base doll but I haaaate her outfit. It's like they forgot this is a *fashion* doll line

Claw’s frozen stop motions were my fav when i was little i am so suprised that claw was the one who made them!
I'm not too fussed about them not having proper diaries because as an European we never got proper diaries with the Monster High here anyway lol. I guess it's not widely known but diaries here came with just a short blurb translated in multiple languages, not a full diary, probably because they were too lazy to include multiple copies in multiple languages, as if English wouldn't be enough.
23:00 you have a solid point- when you said that bit about collectors being children at one point. I collect all sorts of small dolls from my childhood, it’s my hobby, like any other person might garden or collect and care for fish or have a model plane collection. I farm nostalgia- it’s my drug of choice. The best toys that I collect are always detailed and stood out for a distinct reason: scented strawberry shortcake dolls, bendable Betty spaghetti dolls, bobble head littlest pet shops, or even McDonald’s happy meal dolls from franchises I loved. When I grew older and started collecting it was the higher quality lines that i remembered first!!

mattel not "being able to afford" the level of detail from g1 for g3 makes... no sense? considering how detailed the first waves of G3 and the Skulltimate Secrets sets are? the valentines two pack with og Cleo and Deuce is... so bafflingly bad in design AND quality you can't use "they can't afford detail anymore" as an excuse. it's like Mattel wants it to look awful so people shut up and get over G1 already since 90% of peoples issue with this reboot is that it's not a carbon copy of G1.
One reason Mattel prices went up in the US is because for years they split their cost among markets. . So companies will lower the cost for the American market and add that cost to the Canadian market, possibly others too. Because the Canadian market is used to paying more. You see the same thing in lots of other products.
This was called out on the Mattel paid forums.
After this I noticed that Mattel prices dropped in Canada and became closer to their American counter part prices with the exchange rate.
Since then doll collectors in the US have been pissed about the prices.
Why can OMG charge So much less for their dolls of high quality?
Because they are adding the cost to the Canadian and UK markets. They don't cost less to make someone else is just paying for it.
I just find so unfair how they don't put so little effort into Gen1 releases!

I need 2 Cleo De Nile dolls for my Cleo collection and I can agree, Mattel should really work harder on their international sales because I can't find those two anywhere in South Africa. Amazon doesn't ship to SA so unless I have a contact there, I will have to do without and it makes me sad because I really love Cleo's G3 design and almost all her outfits and accessories they come out with.

you know what really pisses me off about the collector dolls is the manufactured scarcity . is it really that hard to restock them ONCE! and i think i heard they produce less than 10,000 of each , that would explain why they sell out so quickly with a mix of scalpers and collectors but don't quote me on that. it's the whole supreme businesses module , all over again . high demand , low supply , and limited releases. despite not having any of them i personally think most of them are pretty good , but this businesses module makes them justify selling the dolls at what ever price they want and makes it hard to determine quality as most people can't even get their hands on them .

I think the outrage comes from GENUINE overpricing of these dolls in the name of “INFLATION”. Tbr with my opinion they just want “funding” to continue the new generation. The price makes you pick the doll apart . I see the consumers realizing the worth of their dollar. The reason MR Frankie is an anomaly is a result of this. “Am I really going to spend $75 on a doll I wasn’t OVER THE MOON about just bc of some nostalgia?” I say they continue with the $25 release of CORE G1 CHARACTERS . The common narrative in the collector community is “I wish I still had my g1 dolls, or I wish I never got rid of my collection . MATTEL IS BANKING ON OUR MONEY THROUGH NOSTALGIA. They’ve changed the target audience A WHOLE GENERATION AGO and we still are here complaining about the same things THEY REFUSE TO CHANGE 😮💨 (lord I hope somebody hears me)
They should've never changed the design in 2015... In my opinion, the most magical thing about MH is that when it was initially launched in 2010, _NO ONE EVER thought it would appeal more to the 13 and up crowd, rather than the younger age the franchise was originally designed for!_ The older people understood and loved the themes that went into everything and became the group that was doing most of the collecting (and buying) of the memorabilia and merchandise!
---Then along comes a bunch of "Karens" in 2014, complaing that adults were exploiting a product made for "little children", so Mattel decided to listen to these morons, and killed off one of their biggest "cash cows", and changed the MH format for the worst... I had always said after the 2015 change, _"Whatever happened to 'Freaky getting fabulous?' Now they look like they could actually HAUNT a house! You guys just destroyed the coolest thing going!"_
--As we all saw, only three years passed, and MH was axxed because of the changes... It was only because of the the original product following and the endless feedback from millions of MH enthusiasts that Mattel decided to bring back the MH Franchise and once again, gear it towards the older crowd for the duration! _"To Hell with the Karens!"_ I say!

I’m excited to see Abby’s launch for G3 and hopefully they keep her just as pictured in the leaks bc I loved her in the series. You’re right about her design that it just fits her so well. I’m new to collecting MH dolls, and have lucked into some thrift store finds then buying their shoes online 😂 I adore G3 dolls but have not watched the new animated series yet. Just the love the older ones way too much!

I've only just started collecting the dolls. I'm very picky since money is tight now with inflation 😅 so I'm paying more attention to which dolls I buy. Personally, I'm more interested in collecting the Clawdeens, Clawds, and the other non-OG ghouls like Abby, Lagoona, and Deuce. I really hope they release more of the boys in the future since I love Clawds design and Deuce has only 2 dolls ATM.
I really understand the critisism with the skullector dolls. But I think some fans are being way too harsh on G3 playline dolls. I see a lot of people who seem dissapointed it isnt exactly like G1, which just confuses me because theyre acting like playline is for us adults, when its not. Its for the kids. The designs and some dolls could be better (ghoulia and the monster ball lagoona are some of my least favorites) but the inability to differentiate G1 from G3 is making people miss some great designs and dolls! (Frankie, my new fav. Draculaura, one of the best dolls ive seen in years. And cleo, the addition of more blue really pulling the design together imo)
I want that Abbey badly. I hope they don't change the body from what we see in the photo, because she looks great like that.
