Wonderful landscape on this secondary route, almost no traffic on this spectacular dirt road, must have been a great experience to drive over this pass. Thanks a lot for sharing the drive, greetings from a road-tripper from Germany!
I don't see why not. It's a very nice road, and if you go early in the season then there's a higher chance it will have been newly graded. Take your time, and don't forget to stop at the pub.
One of my favourite rides, most often done on a bicycle, but have done it in a car, just have to be aware the road is narrow in places and you may have to back up a bit if someone coming the other wzy meets up with you.
I lived in Oamaru in the seventies and at the age of 18 me and 3 other guys took the afternoon off work and decided to take a booze cruise over the Danseys pass in an old 1954 vauxhall wyvern, we drunk beer all the way over finally stopping at the danseys pass pub of which we were kicked out of after buying just one round, leaving there we only got about 3 miles south of the pub before we rolled the car over a steep bank. 3 of us were thrown from the car but the driver remained inside and was seriously hurt as the roof collapsed on top of him, he spent 3 weeks in the Ranfurly hospital with head injuries and the loss of one of his ears i spent a week their with a cracked vertebrae in my back, thy other two were unharmed, we all were very lucky to be alive as we were going about 70 miles an hour before we flipped the car down a 12 to 15 foot bank. watching this video took me right back to that crazy summer afternoon back in 1978. (Warning) never drink and drive .
hi been waiting for a new drive and once again you didn't disappoint, love the drive and that you played it in real time, not time lapse. some amazing country out there, thanks again, looking forward to seeing more, Happy Aussie.
Wow looks like an amazing drive! What vehicle were you driving? Will be in NZ in October and November, hiring a small motorhome, but doesn't look suitable!
It depends on the size of the campervan and what your definition of small is, so be sure you want to go before you do. My tip would be to always stay on your side of the road, look ahead as far as you can, and take it easy. It's a beautiful drive.
One of your best. Keep it up.
Thanks, will do! More off road videos coming in 2025.

It's a great trip that needs to be driven to be appreciated. This pass connects parallel valleys.
What a beautiful drive!! I probably won't take my little vintage caravan on that road as it would probably shake apart 😂

@@drivedrivedrive8537 thanks, a 6 meter 2.3 litre auto!
Very enjoyable. You may have to brush up on map reading though. Hi Hi. I was born in Duntroon many years ago. Nice to see the area again.
Thanks for the info!
Great vid. I've missed that turnoff myself. Very embarrassing when you have Japanese friends in the car ....
Yes, took a wrong turn...... should have been paying attention.
But I'm a local and have been over that road any number of times! 😪
