Everything this guy says about the gatorskin is true. I had them on my old bike and never had a flat. My new bike has contact plus by continental and they work just as well as the gatorskin. You can’t go wrong with either tire.
I just received my pair of 25 gatorskins in today. I currently have the stock Giant Tubeless tires on my bike now. I’m going to wait a few more weeks before I put them on. Great video!
I just chose the gatorskin hardshell folding bead, I too was going to get the 28's as a replacement for the stocks, then I changed my mind and went for the 32's because of my heavy endurance/urban riding
Thing is I wanted to replace my Bontrager 8 years old tyres with something that offers good puncture protection. I had no flats with my Trek FX 7.5 with the old tyres. After putting the Gatorskin tyres and less than 300 km I got a puncture from a rose thorn. It was more to the side, so not under the rolling surface, probably picked it up while taking a fast corner, it was just bad luck. On another bike I'm super satisfied with scwalbe Marathon plus but those are much heavier tyres.
Schwalbe Marathon..... our place are full of plants that can puncture gatorskin like its nothing, the marathon is a street tire that lasts longer but a bit heavy. in fairness gatorskin is okay nor the four-season but if you want something that lasts for daily use,as recommended.
I have been running Gators in 25 size for years now. I do a lot of riding in the heart of Detroit, not a place for a flat. I have had ONE flat in 20,000 miles of riding, and it was a pinch flat. My fault not the tires. Not the best riding tire for sure, my Bontrager R3's are much more supple. But if you want a bullet proof tire the Gatorskin is the best. Update!! After running 700x32 R3's during the summer and getting 3 flats the smooth ride isn't worth it. Went back to Gatorskins however in a 700x32 instead of a 25, much better ride though not in the R3 category. I'm closer to 60 than 55, not caring about going fast is what makes it fun now. Back to riding without worry of getting a flat. Bad weather is one thing, I ride in Detroit often. Getting a flat while being chased by a pack of feral pitbulls and other assorted pissed off dogs is WAY beyond just inconvenient.
Continental Gator skin tire provides marginal flat protection. Over the years I've used at least 10 of these tires. This tires protection is better than nothing but it's not great.
Some of the trails I have around me have a little bit gravel and dirt parts. I was thinking of getting these with self sealing tubes. Do you think I should get these or stick to hybrid bike tires if I ride in dirt and gravel 25% of the time ?? I just want to go a little faster lol
I don’t care about watts and power and weight and all that bs I just ride in Louisville ky where roads are rough and there’s debris, I just need a good tire to get me thru downtown, I laugh at those dudes in their costumes, jerseys, shoes, socks, carbon bikes , haha 😆

I had too many flats that would not seal on the Giant Tubeless when commuting. Threw on the Gatorskins.
Great! I just got a pair of 28mm. I'm going to try them this week. I don't race or anything more of a commuter and everyone's recomended these.

Too true. The Marathon is far more puncture-resistant than the Gatorskin. Also, on poor surfaces it gives much better grip.

Are you all using special tubes to make the tires more puncture resistant or the tube doesn't matter?

These tires are extremely difficult to take off and put back on.
