Amazing playing as always Jon. I read an article a while back about the history of the Greeny and apart from those two amazing Musicians, that previously owned it, over the years it was played in studio's and at jamming sessions by people like BB King, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher and Jimi Hendrix. Can you imagine owning something that Musical Giants of that calibre have played before you? Simply staggering. Great Video as always Jon 👌🎸🎸
I have the Lemon Burst 50s Epiphone. I was at a store and picked this up to play. Boy this thing is so much better to my ear than the stock 50s pickups. Ordered the Greenybuckers the next day. Can't wait to hear mine with the new pickups. Nice demo this is a rad guitar
Thank you for the lovely review and the history tour behind this amazing guitar. And as always, we truly enjoyed your guitar playing, and sweet, guitar tone
Hi Jon, As a much younger man I had something of an obsession with both Peter Green and Gary Moore, so the famous "Greeny" always made my mouth water, and I tried at various times to build my own version (flipping the magnets on a number of LP copies LOL), but alas I am neither of those players, so the results never produced what I was looking for in a guitar. With the rush of reproduction releases of the "Greeny / Moore / Hammett" over the last couple of years you can bet I was sorely tempted, especially by the Epiphone version, but I have yet to succumb, since I have all the guitars I need and could ever want for the player I actually am!!! Thanks for demoing this iconic guitar Jon, hearing it played by a proper guitarist was a treat.
Epiphone makes some really nice guitars- this one fits nicely in the lineup, even their lowest price models have amazing potential and are so much fun to modify. Nice match with the amplifier that you’re using here! 👍☮️
I had one of those for a few months. Pretty good guitar. Very good build quality and fit/finish. I wasn't a huge fan of the out of phase sound (and it doesn't really work well for P&W music). I already had a Gibson LP from the mod shop, so I ended up trading the Epi straight up for a 35th Anniversary PRS S2 Custom 24. I definitely got the better end of that deal, but the Epi is a great guitar for sure.
As always, I love your playing, Jon. I have a '75 Greco that I put a Duncan JB in the bridge position of.. Inadvertently, I get the out of phase sound in the middle position. Not a fan of it, either. But, thankfully it goes away when I slightly dial back the volume on either pickup. I like everything else about this guitar though, otherwise. I'm also hoping they come out with a goldtop that has the open scroll headstock. I've seen some older ones made in Japan that have it, but they're a bit too expensive for me. Keep up the good work, sir!
Thanks for the review, Jon, nice to hear the clean sounds - the Middle position is convincing! I am a big fan of Peter Green but haven't had a chance to try this or the Gibson version (approx double the price) in the HK flagship. I may have missed it in the review (or possibly other comments) but the Middle position out of phase 'quack' is there when Volume on both pick-ups is at 10. As I understand it if you roll off the vol just a touch on one of the pick-ups then everything reverts to a 'normal' mid position sound because the imbalance between the two pick-ups then negates the out of phase effect. If you still have the guitar there give it a shot. Whatever . . . I bought the Epi Cantrell 'Wino' (ebony fretboard) some time back and plan to install Monty's Bethnal Greens, which seem to be the best boutique version of the original PAFs out there . . . the Bare Knuckles PG Blues also seem pretty good from what I have seen on YT. Cheers!
5 years ago when the first of the new Inspired by Gibson Customshop collaboration '59 LP Standard Outfits were released. Everyone laughed when I jumped on one for $799 in the most excellent Aged Southern Fade Burst color. Now they're discontinued and the entry price has risen to $1299 for the Gibson headstock version. Those Greenie's are $1499. With the LP Prophecy also up $300 to $1199. Where will it end? I'm as guilty as anyone, as I've already taken the plunge myself on the '79 LesPaul Custom Silverburst, Inspired By Gibson Customshop edition from the Adam Jones collection. Its an incredible guitar for the money. Anyone who poo poo's them, is either misinformed or delusional. Sure its more than we've ever paid for an Epiphone. But its also the best guitars they've ever built. Period. Peace!
Quick question Jon...out of ALL the guitars you have demoed, which one was the easiest to play as far as action and comfort? Thank you for your EXCELLENT playing. Best on the internet!
Nice guitars..im still wondering about chinese made Epiphones creeping into $1k -$1500 +++ territory.. recently got my 1st Epi. A 2023 '58 reissue Korina Flying V. If it wasnt a gibson custom shop collab. i'd just have gotten a 5-$600 used epi V. .but i paid double that lol at least it was like new AND came with a set of Lollar Imperials in it.. it is a fantastic guitar...absolutely gorgeous and plays fantastic. I like it so much i just got it's partner a '23 Epi/Gibson custom shop '58 reissue Korina Explorer....it should be here by friday 😊

Thanks for always showing such a diverse mix of guitars. Love your videos.
Glad you like the variety!
I give props to Kirk, He plays the real Greeny at live shows. He could just keep it under lock and key.
Exactly!!!
Damn that is PRETTY! Awesome job Jon love all your reviews!
Thank you
This Greeny is so beautiful

I would get a Nik Huber instead of the PRS lol

Wish I bought one of these.
what did you get?
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Soon I'll buy. I just recently bought a Squier Sonic Stratocaster one humbucker in limited edition California Blue
Now I’m just patiently waiting for Epiphone to do a gold top with p90s open book headstock.

@@oldschoolfunkster1 thank you.. the answer is simple.. my Shue signature guitars ✌🏻❤️
Gary Moore played greenie better than anyone. That guitar should bear his name. Nice playing Jon.
Totally agree!
Great playin...... it needs the Greeny wear spots, it's too clean lookin!!!
hahah yes!
I thought these would have sold out for months already.
why so?
In true Les Paul fashion, it was out of tune by the time you finished your demo. But as always, great video and great playing!
Lol

A nice guitar but a little overpriced for an Epiphone IMO.
