    A quite dramatic work by the Russian composer now in her seventies. An attempt to reconcile the opposing forces of religion, philosophy, and silence. Very well received by an English audience in a concert alongside Beethoven's 9th. Well worth hearing! Very nicely filmed.

    Sofia Gubaidulina is one of the two or three greatest composers women in classical music. The other two you can choose of Hildegard von Bingen to the current Hanna Kulenty, Iraida Yusupova, Judith Weir, Kaija Saariaho, Unsuk Chin (you can find many others). They are alive and composing right now. This is the century of women in classical music.

    Very interesting work. Very accessible too, to the extent that it seems to lack the personality of Gubaidulina's more difficult pieces. The orchestra is just out of this world under Kurt Masur... :o)

    nicely performed and recorded. but mostly just sounds with occasional bursts of actual music.

      Even though that might be what is sounds like, the "sounds" are all strictly notated, making it more music that alot of what people define as music these days in my opinion.

    Bernard Herrmann (compositore che apprezzo enormemente, peraltro)??
    O una collana di clichés in gubaidulina-style?? Delusione...

      Simone Tonin Se leggi il mio commento vedi che la seconda ipotesi (alias: il pezzo è una collana di clichés nello stile della Gubaidulina) è esattamente la tua risposta...il punto non è la congruenza stilistica ma il cliché che subentra quando, come a mio avviso in questa composizione, l'ispirazione è assai faticosa o affaticata...vedi tu...

    Люблю Стравинского, Шнитке, Шестаковича, AC/DC Dream Theatre и с огромными усилиями пытаюсь понять Губайдулину, ну это же полная хуйня а не музыка...я когда набухаюсь также могу сочинять. .

    Stupid music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

    • @cobblestonegenerator
      @cobblestonegenerator 5 лет назад +5

      No, just music you dont care for. Dont insult a work just because you dont like it. It takes skill, time, and effort to pull this off by both the orchestra and composer. Also, in my opinion, this is a beautiful atmospheric piece.

      So classical music is stupid? It's not our fault you don't like this type of genre. You just have a poor taste in music.

      No. This is WERY COMPLEX AND CONCENTRATED MUSIC, NOT CLUB OR DANCE MUSIC. THIS IS A LANGUAGE OF MUSICAL FORMS. GUBAIDULINA IS THE GREAT MASTER.
