  • Tutorial on how to realign your 13 pin caravan towing electrics. Venture guide you through this process in an easy to follow step by step video. There are different manufacturers of 13 pin socket, this one is fitted to all New Bailey caravans and probably used by many other manufacturers too.

Brilliant. There's nothing worse than everyone ready to go when suddenly they're all looking at Dad who can't get the plug in. This was an absolute saviour. Thank you.

Ten years ago we had this issue on a Sprite Alpine 4 we owned (the dealer handover had been pretty much abysmal)
Several days later, in a freezing wind I was stuck on the storage yard alone and I hadn't a clue what was happening to the power lead.
Until I saw your vid just now , I'd almost forgotten all about it !
Oddly none of the other "How to Hook Up" videos I've recently mention the problem either ?
We return to caravanning next week in a new Freedom Twinsport caravan.
So tomorrow I'm going to buy one of the caps you demonstrate !
    Thank you 🤗

Thank you for this video. I was stuck with such a situation after midnight waiting to board a ferry and nipped out to get some food. 10 minutes only and someone tried to steal the caravan and wrenched the plug out. Lucky I had a hitch lock because they couldnt disconnect it from my van.
I couldnt get plug to go back in and needed electrics for towing, I only had an old screwdriver but after watching your video, I realigned the plug and it works. Big thank you👍

Many thanks for this top tip which saved my bacon this morning when hitching up. Thought I was going to have to cancel our trip, or at least delay it by a day! All sorted thanks to your excellent video.

Exactly the same here. Just arrived at a site - wouldn't have been able to travel were it not for the advice in this video.

I’ve had this type of plug on 2 cars. Not a problem with my Freelander 2 for 5yrs & not one issue, changed to a Volvo XC90 with factory fitted towbar & I need to use the green thing to fix the connector every time.

I have 13 pin connection on trailer which has 13 to 7 pin adaptor to connect to vehicle. How do I remove damaged adaptor please?

    • @venturecaravans
      @venturecaravans  4 года назад

Sorry for the late reply. You have to turn the plug anticlockwise 90 degrees in order to take it off the adaptor.

They are the most stupid plugs in history and to make it worse the car sockets are usually tucked away underneath the tow bar god help the older people with them

You DON'T twist the plug.... you keep the plug straight and you twist or untwist the COLLAR.You have the flat disc on the COLLAR set to the left (9:00 oclock), you insert the plug (straight) you then rotate the COLLAR clockwise until the disc is at the top (12:00 ocock) and the cap then sits on this disc to keep it locked. If you twist the plug itself, then you will definitely bend the pins. The rest of the instructions on taking it apart is spot on.

Colin Parry there are two types of plug one with a twist collar the other you have to turn the whole plug
