  • I ride the Heritage Classic 114 from Harley Davidson and assess whether it’s a good option for me if I do change for a touring style motorcycle and whether I stay with Harley Davidson. Overall with its classic Harley Davidson styling, the Heritage lives up to all the recommendations I received about it.

I test rode the 2022 Heritage one time and traded in my 2017 Street Glide in for it the very same day. I was shocked how light and maneuverable it is. Being a short 69 year old man, it ticked all the boxes for me. I did a 1700 mile trip on it this summer and never got tired. I can maneuverable in parking lots so easy. I ride it a lot more then the Street Glide. I've had it over a year now and I am still in love with it. Backing the Street Glide out of the garage was so hard for me and returning it in it's spot. The Heritage is so easy to back out and put up. I will take it camping, bike nights, touring, or just ripping on country roads. I am passionate about excellent bikes and this is one of them. I've been riding for over 50 years. I was in dippers sitting on dad's gas tanks. So it might be longer then 50 years. I have pictures of me on dad's 1959 Shovel head.

I like the fact you like the Heritage. Mine is a 2018 model 107 that I bought new and have covered 33k miles on it touring all over Europe. And I can filter through traffic in London on it. Great bike imo.

Nice video and excellent review! I have a 2020 Heritage Classic V107 and love it. I wanted all chrome look because i'm a fan of old school styles and the bike screams the picture of Harley Davidson to me. I would have gotten the 114 but it only came in black in 2020. I think it was 2023 that they gave chrome and black 114.

    Woot woot! 🎉
Nice, Alf. I just love the look and feel of the Heritage classic!
Mine is an antique of course (2003) with the Springer front end, and the classic leather bags, white walls & chrome, in gun metal blue w/ the anniversary issue pin striping and dual cam 88b.
I also love the softail ride, very comfortable, and when I want that cool cruising 'rod' look then I clip off the wind screen for that cool naked look.
I've updated mine with full LED package (same hardware).
If you know your personality is more blacked out, then yeah go for less chrome. I really like the chrome personally, particularly with white walls.
    Enjoyed the video; ride safe.
PS yeah, I don't fancy the U.K. plates; needs the lay down bracket. Our plates in the U.S. are much smaller and more rectangular; tidy.

Well done Alf the best “all rounder” Harley out there. Looks like a proper Harley too. You won’t regret it, strip the screen and bags and it’s a different bike. Easier to move around than the tourers. Love mine after trading in my SportGlide. 😎👍.

I have 3 bikes and this one is my all around favorite. I love it for short trips, around town and commuting. The only way it does not shine is long distance touring. I took my 1400 Concours to Sturgis. Fantastic highway bike. But, once I got there I wish I had my HSTC for Iron Mountain rd, Needles, etc...

Put S&S Grand National Slip-On’s and that dual exhaust sounds badass😎.,,.. Alf I promise you won’t regret it brother crossover was exactly my reason for the change from my Sport Glide😎 I’m a chrome guy, every one has the blacked out bikes

I never understood this bike. But then I started looking at the entire class and I could really see appeal. I ended up with the BMWR18Clasic so I now love this style. Screen and bags off for a sharper look, but why bother. This is indeed a more relaxed ride and style.

I've owned two Heritages, a 2015 twin cam and a 2018 M8. I liked the handling of the 2018 best, but the twin cam motor was more Harley-like. Both were splendid motorcycles, and I never had a moments problem with either of them. I believe the Heritage is the most versatile motorcycle the Motor Company produces--especially for solo touring. I've ridden HDs for 25 years, but I wanted something lighter and a bit more sporting. I sold the Heritage this past April and purchased a new Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro. I have another HD in the garage, but the Triumph is my go to machine for touring.

Nice video. I agree with your assessment of the bike. I own a 2018 Heritage Softail Classic in Vivid Black mostly blacked out. I love the bike! It's quick and nimble. I'm a disabled 62-year-old U.S. service veteran with a lot of old guy aches and pains and with the bike being lighter than the larger touring bikes, it's easy for me to handle. I have the 108 cubic inch engine with a stage II upgrade; I have plenty of power and torque. If you take off the windshield, passenger seat and saddlebags, you have yourself a Softail Deluxe. I can't say enough good things about it. I definitely made the right choice.

Spot on Alf… I traded my Ultra Ltd for my Billiard Blue and Billiard White on a black engined with chrome V&H long shots with racks and sissy bar two weeks ago… it was a revelation. Lighter, comfier, great handling, and take the screen (mine is the half black one - looks awesome) the bags, and the pillion perch off and it’s a cruiser… just a brilliant bike. But I knew it really as I rode one 3k miles round the west coast of the USA in 2007. Great vid, Alf, and I think you do do bike reviews. Enjoy the chase for your new bike. 😂

Imagine that Heritage with a suspension upgrade: mine has a Legend front end and a Progressive 465 RAP rear mono-shock. Now, add in a Stage Two engine upgrade with the Screamin' Eagle 447 Torque cam, billet cam plate and oil pump, a Screamin' Eagle heavy breather, Krome Werks Shredder exhaust, and the Pro-Street tuner. Dyno-ed @ 100 HP at the rear wheel and 112 lb/ft of torque. At 100 pounds lighter than a full dresser, she's a rocket - a very comfortable, long-distance rocket! Oh, one more thing: Chrome IS my favorite color!

Sounds like the perfect bike for you, just need to spend a few bob on a stage 2 and after market suspension which will make the thing quite expensive but hey, it'll give you that zing every time you twist the throttle and put a big fat smile on you face. Perhaps you could try finding one that has already been upgraded.

I owned a 2019 Heritage Classic 114... I installed a full stage 1 setup, Mustang seat with backrest and white wall tires. I ditched the bags as I think they are ugly. Also, the locking mechanism broke more than one time. I really enjoyed the bike. It is a nimble bike coming in at roughly 700 pounds. Sumping is an almost non-existent issue as the engine has a different design than the big cruisers. The suspension on that bike is far superior to my 2023 SG. Those bars are mini apes and very comfortable. Mine was all blacked out. Unfortunately, the rocker box covers faded pretty quickly. Mine was a leaker due to poorly machines parts. With that said, I only sold it due to back issues at the time. The color was root beer brown. Overall, it is a winner in my opinion :-)

I love the Heritage. It’s got all the classic looks. The one they did with the black bottom on the screen looked great - had that old school vibe. I didn’t get another on an opted for the Fat Boy, which I love. Love that fat look😊
A stage two takes all the dullness out of the performance and makes overtaking a much more relaxed affair. As I get older I may even trade in my King (04) for one.
    I think they handle well - a bit of a sleeper 😊😈
    Safe rides 👍🤜

Not sure if I can comment since my softails are 1989 and 1999. They are fun to ride, I consider them my get around town bikes. I have a 1998 Roadking and there is no comparison for ride and comfort. I consider it my travel bike. I would not want to take the softails on a long ride. No. I got a 2019 Harrington classic and I'll tell you about a love it that's really super nibble.
What is you then the road king or any the other one's course? I'm vertically challenged so it would be a whole lot harder for me to write a bigger bike because of the weight never legally like that I just. Don't like to wait it's not like my goal wing where I can toss that around that's 675 pounds in the. Harley's 730 so it's much better. I like it more nimble thinking I'll say all they like about all those touring bugs but I'll tell you what I'll take that I'll take. That heritage no matter where in no matter how far I really don't.
Because I'm so I'll throw back.

Both have same seat height, tank capacity and steering rake. Only 3kg weight difference. Go on, get a Heritage. 114 with a stage 1 will suit you. 👍👍
