    Highlands really seem like a dream cow. I've got a couple Dexter's that I've loved keeping and these guys seem so friendly.

    Check out your buyer carefully. Unfortunately some breeders neglect their Highlands. Highlands need to be conditioned to respond to humans by frequent friendly contact. We have had few aggressive or nervous cattle. These are culled and not sold to buyers, esp not novice owners.

      That is a very good point, lots of people that want to purchase highlands have no experience with cattle at all.

      'neglect' aka. treat their livestock like livestock not pets.

    Hi! Thanks so much for your videos. We are looking to start our highland cattle journey, what are the current prices we should be looking at? Do you sell any registered highlands?

    Really enjoyed this video and have been learning a lot from you! Wanting to get some highland cattle but my concern is that it gets too hot here in Oklahoma for them. Have you had any issues or do they do fine in the summer?

    • @100AcreWoodHighlands
      @100AcreWoodHighlands  2 года назад +4

      Calves being born in the hot part of the summer have real trouble with flies where they get fly strike. Other than that we’ve had no issues. If they have shade and clean water they will do fine. I know lots of people in TX that raise them also

      State lines are pretty easy. Just have to get a vet form filled out that says they’re in good health.

    Highland cows are notoriously aggressive when bred outside of Scotland. They dont react well to non Scottish climate. Its a climate you cant find anywhere in North America
