Absolutely insane run! I played ra2 online on strike-team for 10 years in top30 rank, and still amaize me:) Only one thing! Did i miss something or why i cant find that mission when you have to destroy chronosophere near Einsteins lab? (Or is it in yuris revenge?!)
str4tegix indeed, yuris revenge. soviets destroy the chronosphere to prevent them from losing the war that is fought here ;) cheers. high praise coming from you.
Ohh my bad then. Haven't played for 2-3years now :( If you planning to make the yuri missions speed run, i have a really fast move on that mission, to eliminate the chrono:) If i remember correctly, under 2-3 mins and finished. But based on what i see from You, im pretty sure You already find that move out by yourself :) Thank You for your vids, really bring me back some nostalgic feelings :)
str4tegix absolutely. that strat for the 2-3 minutes is the only way i have ever completed that mission. the first time i played the mission when i was 9 years old, that is what i did ;)
I take quite a bit of time too -- first I build up a big and well-balanced force (infantry, tanks, airborne units), and then I carefully scout out the enemy defenses before I attack! (Call me a disciple of Field Marshal Montgomery!)
I never really payed attention to some of the more subtle jokes of this game. Like the one at 27:33 - "From an unknown location" - cue the Flag of Canada falling in the scene. Nice.
Is this video randomly dug up by the Algorythm to people's front page? I get an unusually large amount of traffic for this stupid, off-hand comment I made 3 years ago 😀
I think the proper English term is "invasion risk assessment", we are currently reviewing the Allied campaign speedrun for the same reason. P. S. Please fix your headgear mic, big L., it almost seems like you do not want to be heard.
surely my most played (and maybe favourite, relatively speaking) game of all time. been wanting to make this for years, and id like to eventually do an allied campaign as well. depending on the feedback for this and how my scheduling works out, i will definitely consider it. these take a lot of time. i was holding off on making this until i could find a way to make the mouse less sluggish, but it didnt seem like it was ever going to happen. this is why my mousing is not as fast and twitchy as usual. this is also why the resolution is not even higher than it is - the higher the res, the worse the mouse delay/lag. directdraw is so shitty. another issue was that it was really hard to record this game. thanks to cosmiccontrarian though for helping me to find a way to record it well - on windows 10, no less. also thanks to my patrons for their support over the past year or so. it only took 6 hours to render this video, whereas before it would have taken about 30, which just is not pragmatic at all. so glad i was able to build a new PC in august, with your support. so i went ahead and started working on this soon after my current build was completed, ran this recently, and feel very satisfied with the time. i think sub 1:10:00 is definitely possible. 35:30 is a good example of an egregious opportunity to save time. that shit costed me at least 15 in-game seconds - those strats are just so fragile though, and it was still a great time. i think i could have probably grinded out a sub 1:10:00 eventually, but some of my times here were really great and i just went with it. hell march 2 being randomly shuffled to for the make-or-break final moment in the last mission was also a factor. also, that time would probably be better spent on making other, new things - like an allied campaign. ive already got some great strats for that and i havent even started working on it yet. i did some crazy shit when i was 9/10 years old. i swear some of my times (mission 8 especially) were actually bettered by my 9 year old self - mostly due to how the game played at an absolute crawl on my shitty 2000 PC, and every little detail could be easily monitored and managed. that tedious slow-mo was probably good practise for this, in hindsight. all hail westwood studios!
+Volound "new things - like an allied campaign. ive already got some great strats for that and i havent even started working on it yet." oh hell yes, after watching this I can't wait to see you do the Allied campaign. it will be a thing of beauty.
+DJkongle Then he deploys it right behind the towers... and then SELLS it immediately! I was like "WTF!! ಠAಠ", then I remembered the Conyard gives you an engineer when destroyed/sold and then I said "Holy **** THAT'S GENIUS!!"
Yeah. I'm not sure what's more astonishing: his speed, micro, or sheer boldness when executing some missions. I guess Mission 11th esp. won the show, considering the fact that I've spent more time on that mission only than he'd needed to complete whole campaign.
I love how he is razing through each mission and then comes Chrono -Storm- Defense that forces him to stay in it for 20 minutes even though he got it solved very early. Though 'love' wouldn't be the best word...
So many memories of these games. Great sound effects, still looks good enough to play without confusion, and has a great story and characters. And damn I miss the acting, cheesy enough but good enough to sell the performance and be insanely memorable. Great run man, this and the Allied one are genius.
You... you just drove the MCV up to the World Trade Centers... when I was a kid this was the first real roadblock mission for me. I mean, just, "La-dee-da! Oh high, future comrades, mind if I set up shop right here? Boy I tell you getting her was a little rough, that I-23 am I right? Just hang on while I get things unpacked!" It's like all your base are belong to us-ception. Bases within bases! D:
I had a funny tactic as a kid and I remember that to this day: I used Yuri to capture a civilian school bus, then I packed it with infantry and engineers and drove it to the Allied base. The gate to the base opens, and you have no aggro from the forces :D the rest is simple from that Garrison the WTC with infantry and capture the building and it's actually enough to hold it, as far as I remember
Good old times. When RTS wasnt all about competitive and high speed build orders in multiplayer turnaments. C&Cs bread and butter has always been the single player, with its ridicolus storys and fun and widespread missions.
Your approach to the final mission is devilish. Simply devilish. I learned about a bunch of things I didn't know about before. For example, I had absolutely no idea destroying the White House instead of capturing it works O.O
On the mission previous to the last, I thought i´d already lost, but then i look at the map and see 2 airships which were captains survived, and won the mission with just 1 of them surviving. good memories of my most nostalgic RTS.
A mission to destroy the Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor was pretty ballsy on Westwood's part, but no one could have ever known the legendary edge-lord status the mission to blow up the World Trade Center would achieve. That must have happened like, right after this game was released. Whoops.
I just downloaded this game last week. The feels and nostalgia was good. Played the soviet one for 8 hours with the mission being to capture every enemy building. A big improvement from the almost 20 hours I would spend just building my structures and mining everything when I was younger.
The first game that made you feel like a real "Commander". I remember dressing up like one when playing this XD Oh, the old times. I'm missing it already :')
Haha, you move and waypath so fast, it's amazing. Gz! I doubt I'll retry again, too busy with my family atm :). I'll added this video into my description.
The trashy but dedicated cut scenes of the Westwood C&C is just legendary. EA tried to copy it but they just failed and created disgusting bullshit with the RA3 cut scenes. Such a shame. I liked their first Tiberian C&C even though it's balance issues with the Scrin but everything that came after was a stab into the heart of the fans :(
just now watched Joseph's video again and checked out yours :) this time I notice that you guys are under different screen resolutions; his is obviously smaller (800×600), which is probably harder to maneuver---but you definitely made several micro improvements that gains the timing!
I guess you can't imagine how popular this game was in China. I was born in 1998, many of my childhood friend like playing this game, even my father liked it😂
One of my favorite games, and one of my university lecturers was involved in creating this game which is super cool. I also noticed you can tell how long the mission is going to take depending on how many Ore Refineries you build haha.
I always find soviet ending in Red Alert games quite funny. "Oh, you've crushed your enemies and survived a betrayal, now you're the new premier". Player's a general, not a politician, come on, spend a few days searching and find someone more suiting for the job. Also dat Rhino tank. Is it a medium? I can't take a single-barreled soviet tank seriously after a whole childhood of Retaliation.
Then again, everyone in-between the player and the Premier's position end up dead during the campaign (Gradenko/Krukov/Nadia/Stalin in the first game, Vladimir/Yuri/Romanov in the second; plus unnamed victims in both games) At least in the expansion you don't end up as Premier.

Love it! I think one could shave off seconds in Home Front (Korea mission) by optimizing finances and better placement of submarines. Also, I think the Korean commander has a Japanese flag on his costume??
That'd go over as poorly as Homeworld RM. Sure, it looks pretty, but it plays COMPLETELY different, so much so that I'd go to the point of passing up the Remaster in favor of the original.
I just ran the allied campaign, here is the link: ruclips.net/video/zTNPsHLqxPI/видео.html

Pimping your base is the key to the victory.
and yet the game does not let you build watchtowers without mods...
