    Hello, this is a very good quality explanatory video.
    I saw this elysia and its mastering version a few days ago and that convinced me to buy it, especially since I saw your video afterwards, so I'm thinking of ordering it very soon for my master hardware chain.
    My question is would you advise me to put it before or after a vari mu type compressor?

    • @thismixissick
      @thismixissick  Месяц назад

      Great to hear! It's an excellent unit, you will be happy with it. Both would work, yet I personally feel that the Nvelope delivers fantastic results after compression.

      @@thismixissick Thank you for your advice, for the moment my analog chain is made up in this order: Bax eq > SSL fusion > SSL bus+ > Tegeler vari tube > SPL vitalizer mk3-t to then finish in the box to complete the digital master with the plugins .
      In the SSL fusion insert I have a pair of Lang peq 2s and a pair of Pultec EQM-1S3s.
      So far I have done quite a few tests of different chains and this is the one that suits me best and so my question is would you advise me to put the elysia nvelope ME before or after the vitalizer SPL?
      Thanks again for your feedback

    Amazing explanation on the Elysia unit bro! How would you put my master chain together?
    SSL Bus+
    Black Box HG2
    Warm Audio Pultec’s
    SSL Fusion (MAAG EQ4M MID/SIDE)
    TK Lizer 2 (Stereo Mode)
    Better Maker Master EQ (Surgical)
    Warm Audio Bus Comp
    Elysia Nvelope (Stereo Mode)
    Dangerous Music AD+
    Better Maker Limiter

      @thismixissick  9 месяцев назад +2

      Great to hear! It’s most important that you personally feel most aligned in your sonic vision, with the order of your processing. I would use the SSL early on, remove the Warm units and be careful where you’ll put the HG2.

    @thismixissick Are the knobs and buttons on the unit aluminum or plastic??? Great video!

    • @thismixissick
      @thismixissick  3 месяца назад

      Elysia only used high quality aluminum for their knobs. They feel excellent!

    • @artistrybyvictoria

      @@thismixissick Thank you. However I confirmed with Stefan at Elysia that they are indeed plastic for the small black concave buttons, while the large knobs are aluminum.

    I use the standard version in mastering and it’s killer for channel/stem processing as well. interested in picking this up but I don’t understand how the price differs so much on the basis of the same specs but with their proprietary stepped pots.

    • @thismixissick
      @thismixissick  9 месяцев назад

      It absolutely is, I’ve been using that one in mastering for a long time until this version came out. Keep in mind that every knob is stepped, and you’ll have considerably more control over the amount of lift / attenuation with 0.2dB steps.

    • @Rareos
      @Rareos 9 месяцев назад

      @@thismixissick yes they are stepped but it's made in-house, and likely already a part made for another product or one with a modification to the number of steps, a change (not an upgrade) in some components to reduce the range and it's the "mastering version". It's true some mastering engineers preferred the unit was built this way but nothing done to achieve it justifies a 4-500€ increase in price. It is simply taking advantage of customer feedback and the term "mastering version", which generally denotes the use of much more expensive switches which cost a lot more and require many more hours to solder (ie. Elma). Also consider the standard Xpressor is all stepped.

      @thismixissick  9 месяцев назад +1

      From what I see on the EU shop of Elysia the difference is €300, which I consider a great price. However, you should feel good with making the purchase on your end.

    I have the nvelope 500 serie, where do you think is better,use before or after subtle saturation in the mastering chain, específico I use a color palette with a louder than liff off the pentode module

    • @thismixissick
      @thismixissick  9 месяцев назад +1

      Great! The Silver Bullet is powerful. I would use it after it, as it’ll have a steadier signal coming in after the saturation. Next to that it’ll bring out the transients in an effective way after the saturation stage.

    • @atacamabeatsindierecording8406
      @atacamabeatsindierecording8406 9 месяцев назад

      Thanks , i do not have the silver bullet , just the pentode module of Louder tha….., in a colour palette module, but thanks. Now I have for mastering, 1) ssl uveq + 2) Stam ssl g buss comp clone + 3) pentode module 4) elysia envelop 500, then back to ITB, …. I have Spl BIG but for edm I don’t like in the chain because hi hat and effect get to loud and destroy the mix, I use as a sound design in some synth, or in pad groups or any synth I want that appear like from the back of your head. Thanks again.

    • @thismixissick
      @thismixissick  Месяц назад

      Didn’t use that too much. Plugin wise my favorite transient shaper is neutron 4 transient shaper. For mastering though the Elysia can be super effective on certain mixes, it can bring out that punch.

    Put this after compression but before Before limiter to AD?

    • @thismixissick

    Nice, i may consider it in my chain, but i am not sure i will need it since i have Gyraf G21 . Headroom of Nvelope is too small for mastering tho, only +21 dBu

      @DJURBANBG 8 месяцев назад

      @@thismixissick Do you know in what way they are different ? I mean, G21 is a clipper, can be punchy but softens a lil the track.. maybe the Nvelope can retain the original punch and add even more ?

    • @artistrybyvictoria
      @artistrybyvictoria 3 месяца назад +1

      You don't understand levels and gain staging.. Pro converters clip at +20 dbu. Analog tape saturates at +13 dbu. The Nvelope has more than enough headroom. Also considering most people work at 32 bit, and even 24 bit, there's more than enough room to work at a lower level in analog and normalize in the DAW with also zero penalty.
