  • Kale and Rod are joined by Helena, a young woman who has gone through a harrowing personal journey. Her testimony takes us into the world of Tumblr and the alternate reality of fandom, social justice ideology, and transgenderism. At 15 she begins the process of becoming a trans person online and decides to become trans in "meat space," fighting with her parents and making the decision through "informed consent" to begin a regimen of testosterone. After a drawn out spiral she acknowledges that she's made a terrible mistake and begins the process of making sense out of what happened. She's a witness and a prophet.

My wife and I are going through this with our daughter and it is a parents worst nightmare. Helena and her message give us hope. We hope this information will be shared far and wide to parents so they will know the danger of social media, peer groups, medical professionals, etc. It also gives us hope our own daughter will one day see her way back from gender ideology hell and reconnect with our family. In addition, this message needs to go out to children so they can hear the other side of the gender ideology cult phenomenon. Perhaps a school assembly posing the question, "are you thinking for yourself, or are you being influenced and told what to think."

Helena is the bomb. Very articulate, head screwed on facing forward. I'm glad she's coming into her own so well, I know it's been a bit rough for her.. This is the third or fourth interview I've seen with her. She talked to Benjamin Boyce a year or so ago, and that interview is worth watching, too.

The other interview I remember is with Michael Tracey. Both are on RUclips. Both Micael and Benjamin are great - Benjamin does multiple weekly deep dive interviews with interesting folks on gender, CRT, philosophy, other things. If this sort of conversation is interesting to you, you should follow him. He never has a bad interview.

Thank you, Helena and interviewers. Helena, you blew my mind regarding your description of not just how social media sites like Tumblr, and their algorithms, are funneling people to social justice warrior content, but to how that SJW content itself, and its uncomfortably heavy expectation to constantly apologize for one's privileges makes it inviting for people to assume a "marginalized" identity by changing their pronouns on their profile, and then taking further steps to identify as NB and then trans. And that this isn't merely about being gender-non-conforming, but about being part of a marginalized community that becomes the lure. Thank you for talking and writing about how parents can be effective in helping their kids navigate this, such as by being better listeners and giving more uptake to what their kids are saying.

I told one of my adult daughters that Tumblr is where young people go to "find out they're trans". She said I sounded like an old woman. I have a trans identifying teen who has demolished our family over pronouns. I have looked into this deeply. It is absolutely brainwashing and young specifically white females choosing a marginalized identity to feel like their voice will be heard. There are many other nuanced reasons why this craze is happening but that is definitely a big one.

    • @ALinn-vr3nl

@@TheEnigmaticmuse I'm sorry to hear you're having to deal with this with your own daughters. Interesting, what you wrote, about young white females feeling they have to choose a marginalized identity in order to be heard. That's heartbreaking.
I'm curious, based on what Helena said about listening and giving uptake (follow-up) to things trans-identified people and their allies say, by any chance did you ask your older daughter what she meant when she said you sounded like an old woman, re: Tumblr? I'm curious what did or might happen if the two of you explored what that means to her? And what that means and how it feels to you?

We all have our personal hang ups and things about ourselves... personality, appearance, whatever, that we don't like. As an educator, it breaks my heart to see what is happening to our kids. This girl here, Helena, projects confidence, intelligence, rational objective thought, and yes even physical beauty yet she had to go through the pain of self-rejection and everything that brought to her life, over trying to fit into an online community.
Helena, thank you so much for the insight that you have shared with the world through this interview. I have a daughter only a few years older than you who affirms and embraces the culture that nearly destroyed you. Your story has helped me to understand her better and has given me hope. I also have two daughters still at home that I can now be a better dad to because of what I have learned from you.
You are saving lives! A true hero! Thank you so much for who you are.

these online communities described by Helena are fascinating. There have always been outcasts (geeks, nerds) among adolescents. But today these groups seem to have decisive power over what is truly cool and what is not, to the extent that impressionable young people will take extreme pharmacological and medical steps to conform with them.

  • @sointeresting3938

It's tragic that young heterosexual white females are led to believe that are villains for being themselves and that they are in need of a radical change. They are taught and even pressured to become men, to get into kinky sex, to totally lose touch with who they are, to act and think like everyone else in a particular on-line community and to turn away from anybody who does not think the same, including loved ones. It's actually frightening to witness the indoctrination of an important subgroup of society. And the harm that is being done to these young girls is often irreversible. There is a movement crying out for people to be woke, when what they in fact want is for everyone to follow blindly and be totally asleep! Helena, you are so brilliant and well-spoken. Keep shining. You are extremely needed and relevant right now and you can help many, many people. Just keep being yourself.

Tremendously insightful and life-saving interview with someone who went deep into the delusion of the "you can choose your gender" construct; I'm posting on my social media for parents and young people to also share. "All truth is God's Truth," as St. Augustine reminded people of his day and it remains true forevermore. The truth is God's light that pierces the devil's darkness and shows us His love and mercy that will lead us to His greatest Truth and Life and Way in Christ.

I don't understand why she felt the need to go to those specific groups. At first, I empathized with her, but as I was listening, I realized that she actually had nothing in common with those groups and basically went there because she probably thought being trans is the new popular thing. From her description it seems as if she didn't fit in at school and didn't have friends, especially female friends. I understand wanting to make friends online, but I just don't get why she specifically targeted groups dedicated for trans people. Surely if she wanted to talk about movies or something else she liked, she could have chosen a group that was simply average, without any LGBT membership requirement. There are so many online that I fail to see the need to be accepted particularly in a trans group, which naturally is going to be made up of primarily trans people.
I know those LGBT groups on various social media and I joined some because I'm a lesbian, but I don't understand why in the world a straight man or woman would ever join our group and then bash us because some lesbians on there write negatively about straight men or straight people. It just makes no sense to me. Those groups are formed so that marginalized people can talk about their issues and vent their frustration, so it's very common that they take this attitude of us versus them. But those groups are closed usually for a reason. If you are not a lesbian woman, you probably can't understand where some of the women there are coming from. To me it seems as if she wanted to assume the identity of someone that is part of the LGBT community because she thought that somehow this would make her more popular, in which case she completely missed the point. I'm wondering if she hasn't somehow come out of this with the impression that trans people are just attention-seeking people or that this is a fashion thing. I don't use tumbl though. Maybe there's something I didn't get.

the thing is Helena's story is pretty typical. so she didn't have "nothing in common" with trans teens on Tumblr because they were just like her. also she genuinely believed she was trans, so it wasn't entirely a cynical maneuver to gain popularity
