Peder Mørk Mønsted: A collection of 284 paintings (HD)
Description: "Peder Mønsted was born in Balle Mölle, near Grenna in eastern Denmark on 10th December 1859. He studied at the Prince Ferdinand’s Drawing School, Aarhus where he studied under Andries Fritz (1828-1906), a landscape and portrait painter, before moving to Copenhagen. Here he studied at the Royal Academy of Art between 1875 and 1878, and was taught figure painting by Julius Exner (1825-1910). Here too he would have come across the work of artists such as Christen Kobke (1810-1848), an outstanding colourist and Peter Christian Skovgaard (1817-1875), a romantic nationalist painter, a knowledge of whose work is seen in the Danish landscapes and beech forests of Mønsted’s. As early as 1874, at the age of 15, he took part in the December Exhibition in Copenhagen. In 1878 Mønsted left the Academy to study under the artist Peder Severin Krøyer (1851-1909).
Mønsted travelled extensively throughout his long career, being a frequent visitor to Switzerland, Italy and North Africa. In 1883 Mønsted travelled to Paris where he worked with William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905) for four months. As early as 1884, he visited North Africa returning later in the decade. The early years of the 20th century saw Mønsted returning to Switzerland, the south of France and Italy, the latter being the source of inspiration for many Scandinavian artists of the 19th century. The war years curtailed Mønsted’s travel to Norway and Sweden, however the 1920’s and 1930’s saw him return to the Mediterranean. From 1879 to 1941 he exhibited regularly at the annual Charlottenborg Exhibition. Throughout his long career, Mønsted continued to paint the Danish landscape and coastline. His is a romantic, poetic view of nature; he was an artist who depicted the grandeur and monumental aspect of the landscape, with a remarkable eye for detail and colour. He was also known for a number of portraits, including that of King George I of Greece. "

What a PRIVILEGE to have access to this art. This painter has an extraordinary ability to capture nature on canvass. One can crunch in the snow, paddle in the streams, hear the breeze whisper in the trees, and smell the flowers in the cottage garden. Absolutely masterly, and thank you for the pleasant music.

Peder Mørk Mønsted is a genius an nobody can convince me otherwise. The way he plays with shadows and light is perfection, its like how a human perceives the scenery an paints it EXACTLY how he sees it. Perfection! 👌

Holy guacomole! Painter extraordinaire: refined, expressive, master of snow, master of light, detailed and accurate but not neurotic, a romantic: farm life depicted as it was- simple, quiet, peaceful, ducks and chickens here and there, a woman near chickens with laundry on a clothes line; a man in a business suit reading a paper perched on rocks, a winding river under trees with sunlit dappled water, adult with children nearby, wagon wheels trail in the snow, cows with a shepard, cottages with thatched roofs, a sea captain, a child on a wooden sled pulled by an adult, middle weastern figures....
    WOW!

Blimey, these are a feast for the eyes…the light captured by his skill, blows me away. Some of these paintings are so detailed I really thought they were photos. I’ve only watched 5 minutes and, metaphorically speaking, I bow to his mastery! Thank you for posting 🤔🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

One of the lesser known artists who deserves to be honored much more than he is or was.
A little known fact, he was originally actually from the planet Ork.
After his career as an artist, he, in the late 1970s, started going by his middle name and moved to Boulder, Colorado where he moved into a quaint little two story Victorian with a pretty young lady. They were not romantically involved however.
His artworks are exceedingly wonderful and truly worthy of hanging in any of the world's finest museums and galleries next to the likes of Bierstadt.
    Goodbye and Na-Noo Na-Noo!

Ive had the pleasure of gazing at these beautiful paintings lots of times , and never ceased to be amazed at his skill every painting looks like his heart and soul go into acheaving perfection i always hate to use the word perfection ist but i take a true exception to this collection i wish some of his talent would rub off on me when i crudely, a1attempt art!
