New to the channel, and so glad to be here. Lowest rated for next month...oh boy. I guess I've gotta bite the bullet and asd House of Cotton to my January TBR. Thanks for making reading extra fun. 😮😅😊
Ooooooh, I hope I can find time to check out Foundryside at some point this year. I think itcwould be fun to take part in the viewer pick. I will have to be sure to prioritize my watch later videos so I dont miss the February roll! Not giving yourself punishments is a plus. I hope this year has the best reading for you! 💙📖😃📚💙
Love the new changes!!! So excited to see your game back in action!! Y’all decided to do sufferathon all year and your game decided you needed some added chaos😂😂
I love that you brought back your game! I like the new changes and having the viewer get more involved. I will definitely try each month to fulfill that prompt. Yay!
This is so fun! I loved Life growing up...especially the little people you got to put in your car. I was always trying to rig it to get more kids 😂 I love the viewer engagement prompt...i want to play along with you. Hopefully my lowest rated books aren't too bad lol
Thank you so much for letting us join in the fun 😊 I picked up Seoul Before Sunrise, which has such a low rating but after reading it I'm not sure why. The art was lovely, and even though I think the author could have covered the topics a little more, I still enjoyed it 😁
Hi! I read one of my lowest-rated TBR books: How to Be Safe by Tom McAllister. I hope it helps your viewer prompt! :) I love that aspect of your new game.
I read The Fury by Alex Michaelides for my “lowest rated” book. It has a rating of only 3.36, but I’m happy to say I’m the outlier. I loved it. 🎉 I’m glad you made changes to your game to make it work better for you! It’s so fun to watch.
I love the way that you are doing the Viewer prompt this year. My lowest book that I picked from my TBR was The Children's Home with a 2.95. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy it so it ended up being a 2 star for me. It did help me out for TBRathon and Winterween so atleast I was able to make it work for a couple of readathons.
Yay! Glad to see this game back :D like the changes you have made, and I've started adding my owned TBR to goodreads to see what is the lowest rated - it may take me a while 😅
Hello! I'm over 70% of the way through my book for the viewer prompt and I will be continuing :) It's The City of Stardust by Georgia Summers with a 3.32 on GR. I'm actually really enjoying it, it feels very magical 💫 but is also brutal in parts, so maybe that's why some don't like it!
Found your channel the other day and love your Bookish Life TBR game. Such a cute, fun way to get through your reading. I just started my lowest rated on my current TBR for a challenge I'm doing on the drive to see family and am 59% of the way done and will finish it on the drive back home. It is Agatha Raisin and the Haunted House by M.C. Beaton. It's a cozy mystery series set in the Cotswolds in England. I'm enjoying it as a fun, short mystery. It's not up there with my favorite books, but they are some easy ones that I go back to when I want a short palate cleanser from heavier books.
Thank you ☺️. It sounds cute! Sometimes cozies get really mixed ratings and I feel like it usually depends on the writing. Glad you’re having fun with it, even though it isn’t a fave.
I so plan on participating with you. My lowest rated is actually a book that I’ll have to pick up from my library. But I don’t mind. I love using my library!
Well I’ve been reading After Alice….but I’m only on Chapter 7. I’m having a hard time wanting to pick it up to read it. The character *just* fell down the hole…
I’ll check to see which book, on my January tbr, will fit this prompt. Love how you are simplifying your game to reconnect to it and have fun again with your game.
Yay, I'm so happy to see bookish life back. I love the changes, especially to the viewer prompt. I don't have my unread books on Goodreads at all and there is too many to try to figure out what the lowest rated is, but if you'll accept the lowest rated on my January TBR, I will try to prioritize that book so I can still participate. If not, maybe I'll have better luck participating next month. Happy New Year.
Excited you've started this game up again - I joined after you stopped playing. Watched all the old recordings so looking forward to watching and joining in real time.
Hahaha It’s so hard with these long games! Especially when you have a lot of set backs, which your game always gives you every time those little dudes get sent back.
Yay! Im glad the game is back! I love playing along. Im going to try to read Blue Flowers by Carola Saavedra, but tbh im 90% sure itll be a DNF due to triggers. But thats one off my shelf which will be a win!
@astarreads4214 I forgot there was a timeline on this but that's ok, I'll try again another time. If you were curious I did read the book, gave it 3.5 stars, it wasnt as triggering as I feared, it was stream of consciousness and kind of lost me. Good premise but poor execution. Watching February now!
Love that you are using game of life for your TBR. Would be interesting if passing a payday rewarded you, like take a book off your TBR or switch out for something else.
That definitely a good idea. I have paydays set as special prompts right now, but my board could use a little updating, so maybe I need to incorporate something like this 🤔
New subscriber. Loved this video ❤❤ I want to play this game as well. I have a collection of this board game its my favorite. Could you make a video on each space and all your changes? Pretty please with cherry on top 😊😊😊
Haha You asked very nicely. I will see what I can make work. I have a lot to try and get finished right now, but check the board picture in the description box and if I haven’t made this video by next month’s TBR, remind me please.
Nope, I enjoy almost everything I read, so almost everything that I read gets 5 stars, and this was no exception :D I can understand why other people didn't enjoy it, but I did have a good time reading it
I'm a bit late but last night I finished What Grows In The Dark (2.97 on GR). I gave it a 3. There were times when I was really invested and creeped out (it's a horror book) but very often it was dragging and boring and just so slow. It also combined different types of horror (psychological, paranormal, body) in a way that was just so annoying to me. On the bright side, the lowest rated prompt is all done 🎉
Finished my lowest rated book! Outside by Ragnar Jonasson. Gave it 3 stars, definitely wasn’t the best thriller but it was still a fun reading an Icelandic winter thriller with snow outside. ❄️
Yay love the changes! Also I already had the prompt lowest on tbr and so I did lowest from my 25in25 and so if I read it I will come back! Hopefully it’s not horrible because it’s rated 3.25 which is really low
I hope this is the right spot to report. I read the lowest rated book on my tbr, Too Early To Know Who's Winning by Karla Huebner. It was my crowdfunded book for HRCYED rated 3.22 on Goodreads. (May be lower now after my 1 star review lol.)
I finished my lowest rated book... The Favorite Sister by Jessica Knoll. Rated 3.09 on Goodreads. I struggled with this one. It gets a 2 star rating from me. Good luck with the next round!
Surprisingly my lowest rated book was Dead Girls Can't Tell Secrets by Chelsea Ichaso. Either I have amazing books on my TBR or I haven't expanded my list because this book was 3.42 on goodreads. Either way, I enjoyed it for what it was. I haven't read a YA mystery/thriller in a little bit and after reading pretty heavy fantasy books, it was nice to read something where I didn't have to think so much lol. Like all thrillers I've read, I always have a hard time putting it down so I ended up reading this in 3 hours yesterday 😅. Happy Reading everyone(:
I read the cat attacks by A.C. Harrah for my lowest rated book. I did not think I would enjoy it cause it was a short read, but was really surprised that I did.
Yay! Love the new element you’ve added for viewer spins. My lowest rated book was The Fury by Alex Michaelides. I ended up giving it a 3.5. Michaelides is a really talented writer- there were several passages that I flagged to revisit later because the sentences were so well crafted. My main issue was with the plot itself. The twist was a bit silly, which is such a shame! I was honestly really enjoying the book until about 3/4 of the way through, but the ending let me down.
Just a quick query, Will the quarterly draw be open internationally or only within the US? Also glad to see you being kinder to yourself with your tbr game, your game=your rules 😊
Thanks, the viewer prompt motivated me to start the HRCYED lowest rated books which I was scared to start. My lowest rated is The Haunting of Quilter's Square. The reviews mentioned the grammar and spelling were horrible. And I did notice a lot of mistakes but that isn't a pet peeve of mine so I was okay with that. However I didn't care about any of the characters or the mystery plot. So it was a 1.5 star for me.
For my Viewer Prompt it looks like I get to pick from: The Turning (Short Story Collection) by Henry James, Frog Music by Emma Donoghue, The Animals At Lockwood Manor by Jane Healey, So Happy for You by Celia Laskey, or The Removed by Brandon Hobson.
You are spoiled for choice! Hopefully one of them will be the perfect pick and actually be good as well. Thank you again! I’m so excited to read this series!
I just finished reading the lowest rated book on my TBR, We Are Totally Normal by Rahul Kanakia. I’m sorry to say it did deserve the 2.62 rating it has on Goodreads.
Most likely. What else do you come to Sufferathon for? 🤣 I read for the same one so I could stay on the sea creature I escaped the cruise on. Much less chance of crowding there.
I had to go with the first lowest rated that was available from the library. I just finished Looker by Laura Sims. I didn't hate it but also just felt eh about it. It is about this one woman's obsession with her famous actress neighbor. So many times, that I couldn't help but think she needed to go to therapy cause dang. lol, I give it 2.75.
Yay!! It’s awesome seeing people getting through the prompt so quickly. Sounds like she could have used therapy :) Sorry it was EH, but I’m glad you didn’t have to suffer through a 1 star 😅
I went with the lowest rated that I checked out from the library. I read That Night in the Library by Eva Jurczyk. I gave it a low 3 stars. It was okay. Goodreads has it at 2.67.
Viewer Prompt Entry: I read The Turning (Short Story Collection) by Henry James...and I gave it 2 stars. Sadly, I think I'm out of my Classics era. A few stories were interesting because I have watched film adaptations of them so they felt familiar and it was interesting to review the source material. Overall, I will be unhauling this book to my local used bookstore -yay, more space on my shelves!
Hoooray for more shelves. Henry James is not a classics author that pops to mind when I think of those books I want to read. So, this is good news, cause I won’t be in a rush to pick up his works.
For the Viewer Prompt I just finished Not Your Average Hot Guy by Gwenda Bond whose average rating on Goodreads was a 3.2 (so definately one of the lowest rated books on my Want to Read list). Ended up giving this book 3 stars. It wasn't what I was expecting for an Adult Romance.
Viewer prompt: I don’t use Goodreads, and I don’t update Storygraph with books that I want to read, so I looked at my Audible collection for the lowest ratings. Surprisingly, everything was fairly highly rated with my lowest-rated book being 3.9 or perhaps slightly lower. I read one of my 5 lowest-rated books - The Downloaded by Robert J. Sawyer. I liked it and rated it 4 stars. Without the challenge of this prompt, I probably wouldn’t have picked up a sci-fi book, but I’m glad I did!
For the viewer prompt I picked up Cum Laude by Cecily von Ziegesar. It was rated 2.51 on Goodreads. I'm not sure if others were able to read all of it, but I DNFed it. She kept changing POVs mid paragraph, and it was agitating beyond belief for me.
Squeaking in at the last minute to say I read the lowest rated book on my TBR which was the second volume of the Snow Piercer graphic novel. It was just kind of a mess TBH. So I get why it's rated lowly.
Oft you mean. Okay, well I pull about 30 books a month (my tbr is over 350 and toooo big for selections) as a tbr to pick between. So lemme go find ratings for all of my options and I'l come back to you
Okay, there are 3 books with a rating under 4.0 on SG. They are "Azula in the Spirit Temple", "Mary Poppins Comes Back" and "Can't Spell Treason Without Tea" - and amazingly, I've actually read all three of them already this month ^_^ so yes. Have a space on me! I can't believe that Treason has a rating under 4.0 - shocking. I can't wait to read book two.
After finishing The Factory Witches of Lowell (3,24 stars on GR). And gave it 2 stars (for now). Because the ending was at least all right. But yeah, maybe not cover up a plot hole by making a controdiction about something else? I also get why people didn't like slaves being referensed to "like cattle", but yeah, it's a historical paranormal story set during a time where the south of US had slaves. And slaves where seen as the same level as cattle. (And since I want to rant: a slave being sold was viewed as property before auctioning, the spoiler thing being described happening made no sense!)
Just finished my lowest rated book from my TBR: Debridement by Sean Dow. One star from because it was just bad wishfulfilment and the main character was annoying.
Boooooo, how rude of you to get the lowest rated for the viewer prompt. 😂 I guess I’ll try this lol. Need to do it at some point for the HRCYED challenge anyways. 😅
New to the channel, and so glad to be here. Lowest rated for next month...oh boy. I guess I've gotta bite the bullet and asd House of Cotton to my January TBR. Thanks for making reading extra fun. 😮😅😊
Welcome! And sorry your first experience with my game couldn’t be a better prompt lol
💙📖😃📚💙
Thank you so much 😊 I am definitely hoping for a better reading year in 2025. I hope your year is fantastic as well :)
I cant wait to follow your game and read along too
I love the new changes and I think the new thing with the viewer prompt is a really fun idea.
Let’s hope it’s realistic and I don’t end up moving forward 25 spaces lol
Yay so glad to see this game back, and I love the changes you made!
Thank you Diana :)
So glad the game is back with fun new updates. Looking forward to participating in the viewer prompt too!
I’m looking forward to hearing what book you end up reading for it.
Ah! I am so excited for the new take on the viewer prompt!
Me too! It’s going to be so fun to see what people come up with!
Yay!
Wooohooo! I’m glad you like the changes; I’m feeling really good about them :)
This is so fun! I loved Life growing up...especially the little people you got to put in your car. I was always trying to rig it to get more kids 😂 I love the viewer engagement prompt...i want to play along with you. Hopefully my lowest rated books aren't too bad lol
I would pull a second car along with all my extra children hahaha
I love the new changes, especially the viewer prompt! I’m excited to be apart of this🤍
Thank you and yay!!!
Thank you so much for letting us join in the fun 😊 I picked up Seoul Before Sunrise, which has such a low rating but after reading it I'm not sure why. The art was lovely, and even though I think the author could have covered the topics a little more, I still enjoyed it 😁
Well that’s great news! Goodreads doesn’t always get it right.
yayyyy so happy to see this game making a comeback!! i love the new way you're going to run the viewer prompts, even if this first one is rude!!
Hi Ruby!!!! It was rude! But fun also :)
Love the changes! Will definitely participate in the viewer prompt to help you along.
Thank you Magda :)
@astarreads4214 Just finished The Black Bird Oracle. So Good!
I loved it. 🎉
I’m glad you made changes to your game to make it work better for you! It’s so fun to watch.
Oh I’m so glad you enjoyed the book so much. It’s always fun to find a gem among the low star rating books.
Hoooray for working through challenges, even if the book was a dud.
Yay! Glad to see this game back :D like the changes you have made, and I've started adding my owned TBR to goodreads to see what is the lowest rated - it may take me a while 😅
Let’s hope it’s a short one that isn’t too bad :)
The last prompt is perfect for me 'cause I had the same prompt for my January TBR 😅
I aim to please 😄. Hopefully it will be a better read for you than it was for others :)
Love to see this! Gotta go see what my lowest rated is. I have to add the books I recently got before I know for sure.
Fingers crossed it’s something you’ll be excited to read. Sometimes those ratings aren’t all that accurate.
Good to see the game again! 😄
Lowest rated? Thanks for that one. Well, I didn't even have to look it up. 😅
Good luck!
Haha I know, it was a terrible prompt 😂😅

Yay game of a bookish life!!!!!
Super happy to be playing again.
I so plan on participating with you. My lowest rated is actually a book that I’ll have to pick up from my library. But I don’t mind. I love using my library!
Agreed!! I love using the library as well.

Yay, looking forward to participating in the viewer prompt. This one was rude, but I need to get to my lowest rated for HRCYED, so it works out
Yeah, I thought it was quite perfect for HRCYED. Glad it worked out for you :)
Yay, I'm so happy to see bookish life back. I love the changes, especially to the viewer prompt. I LOVE the new viewer prompt idea!! I can't wait to see what you have!!

Wooohooo! I’m glad it’s back too.
As a fellow "hasn't finished my TBR game within a year" girlie....I feel you 🥲
Hahaha It’s so hard with these long games! Especially when you have a lot of set backs, which your game always gives you every time those little dudes get sent back.
@@astarreads4214 These games can be pretty mean sometimes lol
Yay! Im glad the game is back! I love playing along. Im going to try to read Blue Flowers by Carola Saavedra, but tbh im 90% sure itll be a DNF due to triggers. But thats one off my shelf which will be a win!
Fingers crossed the triggers will either not happen, or be not very bad…cause booo!
@astarreads4214 I forgot there was a timeline on this but that's ok, I'll try again another time. Love that you are using game of life for your TBR. Would be interesting if passing a payday rewarded you, like take a book off your TBR or switch out for something else.

I need to read the bottom 5 for HRCYED, so it'll be nice to get that one done!!
Wooohooo! It’s a good time to work on that one :)
I think the viewer challange sounds like so much fun!! I am going to read "der letzte schnee" (the last snow) by arno camenisch
I hope it goes well and DOESN’T live up to it’s low rating :)
The last prompt is perfect because I have 1 book left for that prompt for HRCYED 😄 Fingers crossed I get to it in January
I'm a bit late but last night I finished What Grows In The Dark (2.97 on GR). I gave it a 3.
Yay for sci-fi! And I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
Wow!! Talk about prolific reading! I really want to read Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea and I hope I love it :)
I have been reading "The Juliette Society" it was the lowest rated book on my goodreads tbr and i understand why it's only a 2,36 average rating.
Oh no! That’s a bummer. Well, at least it’s off your TBR!
I am new here. I play bokpoly for my yt channel.
Hi :). Bookopoly is also a very fun TBR game :)
Boooooo, how rude of you to get the lowest rated for the viewer prompt. 😂 I guess I’ll try this lol. Need to do it at some point for the HRCYED challenge anyways. 😅
Hahaha You’re welcome 😝😝😝
