As someone with autism who used to struggle a lot as a child with meltdowns, I love that you understand the difference and that it's not his fault. Even at the age of 19 it still happens to me, its like the whole world has gone upside down and theres no way to stop it. I also love that you see that punishing andy isnt the right thing to do, if you were to take more away from him it would make things 100x worse because the concept of consequences can be skewed when you're still very 'out of sync' as ive always referred to it.

I just want to give Anna a hug. You can only fully understand how she is feeling there if you have been through it yourself. I sincerely hope the rest of your trip goes as planned.
Dear Andy, I'm sorry the rules kept changing on you when you went to the 02. There's been a lot of changes recently, hasn't there? There's been so many that it's making most people upset I think. I'm sorry you don't understand what's going on fully. I'm sorry that's scary. I hope you know that your mum and dad love you and have good reasons for making you live with so many changes. I hope you find ways soon to be less scared by all the things that are going on. X
You guys are awesome parents, I feel so sorry that Andy had to deal with this sudden change and that the o2 security had no budge on it, and left you to deal with the fall out. Big love xx
The security at O2 should be ashamed for leaving you to deal with the meltdown after causing it in the first place.......I would have gave him my camera too aswell. My boy will throw things in a meltdown and then be even more upset when he realises it's broken. You guys are doing great.
To be fair it’s ridiculous and pedantic ruling. A camera phone is ok... but a camera not. It’s merely the cannot possibly police phone recording so easily. If whatever device can record... then simply device can record. If that is what the want to stop us the recording it’s actually literally impossible. I personally think these rules may be their for some sense, but seriously not allowing a kid to film digital display boards is just completely nonsensical. No Thanks to security guard number one, for misinformed advice! Do the security guards just individually make up these rules and follow them as they at their will? Surely not if they are indeed actually implementing and adhering to the NO filming in the O2 protocol. It’s sad that they could not realise the challenges Andy overcomes every, give him strict rules and let the kid film even with their distanced supervision. Guessing that’s way too novel of an idea and caring. An inexpensive camera phone maybe a way forward for situations such as these. Of course then you have associated costs and that’s so far from ideal. Given costs associated with living with a disability already exist. May it be fun and long live Andy Go Pro.
Totally with you on not wanting to punish him for a meltdown but also wanting him to learn not to do it again whilst also wondering if he can learn from it, constant dilemma for me too I admire you're patience and compassion as a family 🙏❤️
I totally understand how you feel. My son has had a few meltdowns recently due to the changes that have happened and he doesnt understand it. But luckily for us he is only 5 at the moment. Im dreading when he gets bigger. And its deffo not a bad thing that you gave him a camera replacement. Its what he needs to cope then by all means give him what he needs to cope. It was deffo a meltdown and not a tantrum (bad behaviour) because he broke/hurt something that meant a lot to him. So he wasnt trying to gain anything from it as it was his things that broke. (This part wasnt for you kev. Was for others in case they didnt understand lol). As autism parents i think we all understand and appreciate what you are saying. Btw. Love the vids. you may find you cope fine as your son gets bigger. Both my sons are on the spectrum. My youngest lashed out terribly at this sort of age, but now he's 12 he is more likely to go into a shut down than a melt down when things get too much for him.
You are amazing people. I can’t imagine the stress and frustration you handle everyday. I know how hard it was dealing with a toddler in a full on meltdown I can’t imagine a full grown teen
Kevin you and Anna are hero’s not one of us knows what it’s like to deal with Andys meltdowns so none of us can have a say in what to do or what “you should do” you are both doing amazing just know that

Hi Kevin & Anna. Just wanted to let you both know that I think you coped so well with the O2 situation and I would have done exactly the same thing to calm Andy down! I hope you are all ok now. It's lovely how you support each other. I'm pretty new to your channel but it is clear that Andy is very loved and well cared for. His behaviour most of the time is really good in my opinion and a real credit to you both. I also have a son with autism & LD (10yrs old) and it is a fine line we walk when trying not to give in to their every demand! We had a bad day today so your video made me feel less alone. For any new autism parents, don't panic, my son's bad days are less often, the older he gets! I hope you managed to enjoy the rest of your holiday. Thanks for letting us all watch and learn from your journey! Ps my son now also enjoys watching your adventures with Andy. Xx
Give lots of love from us to Anna - must be so hard for her to see Andy like that and so hard for her to manage - and I'm sure she at times gets sick of having a camera about on top of these bits (only human) but you Anna and Andy are giving so much awareness as a family and your videos are really contributing to Autism awareness!Xx
Bless ya ! Crazy times at the mo and people don't understand. Even worse for those like Andy who don't understand why we are in the situation. Hope the rest of the weeks is better for you all
So sorry for all of you seeing Andy in a full blown melt down. And then hit out at all of you. The security guards should of been more understanding. But he still loves you both deep down inside. If you like to chat and just talk im here for you all. My love to you all keep your chin up. Give my love to Andy and his mum.
Andy is such a good boy. You are right Kevin, he should not be punished for something he cannot control. I am sure over the years you and Anna and whoever else have tried helping Andy learn new coping skills. All you can do is show Andy that support while he is melting down. Maybe as his communication skills continue to improve, he will express his frustration differently.
It isn't rewarding bad behaviour when you have to replace one thing with another to avoid a meltdown tenfold .believe me I have been in your shoes many times and unless you have lived it yourself you have no idea .Hope Andy as better days for the rest of your trip
Been a while since I have watched one of your vlogs, HCA, so been a tad busy, plus it's been back to school week here in NI. Big hug to all the chapman family, but specifically for Anna, girl you got this, you're a super hero!
It's great to see so many lovely comments, I just wanted to add to them to say that you are both brilliant parents, Kev and Anna - this situation must have been so so difficult. I'm hoping the trip will end better than it started. I've been subbed for about 2 years now and the progress Andy has made overall has been amazing to see
Oh poor Andy 😞 I can’t even think of how you an Anna must feel when this is all happening much love to both of you ❤️ Hopefully the O2 will see this and train their staff x
I agree. It especially bothers me that they said filming only wasn't allowed during entry and then changed that to say no filming inside either. That would upset anyone, being lied to like that.
I’m glad Andy calmed down by the end of the day. Wen you where talking to Anna at the end I just wanted to hug you both. You are both great parents. Problem is a lot of people don’t understand what autism is. As always sending you loads of AUsome love from me. 💙💪🏻🧩💜
Sorry to hear about this. Don't they have better things to worry about in these times than a kid filming inside the building with a camera? Hope you are all OK and have a better rest of holiday.
I'm so sorry to hear this happened, I'm glad Andy calmed down in the evening. You and Anna shouldn't have to explain yourselves or how you calm Andy down, you do an amazing job and I have the biggest respect for you both. I hope the rest of your trip was good fun!
I would totally send the portion of this video where you talk about what happened in the 02 TO the 02 management ASAP, along with any footage you have of Andy's meltdown and footage of Anna so unhappy and knackered several hours later if you and she can feel comfortable with that, to hopefully help them understand autism and develop their training accordingly. There should not be such a massive incongruence around the rules in such a big and popular venue, and I honestly find it very suspicious that security caught up to Andy filming so quickly, but took half an hour to notice his massive meltdown.
Ah this is so gutting to hear. Poor Andy. You don't have to justify your reasons for giving him the GoPro! There was no 'bad behaviour' involved and those who have watched your videos long enough will know that! I've seen on insta that you did manage to make the most out of the rest of the week so i'm looking forward to those vlogs. I hope there was no more struggle for Andy. You guys are great parents and your patience and calm in these situations is exceptional and inspiring ❤️
I'm sorry to hear about what happened, looking at the pictures on Instagram you did go to legoland and If any of the O2 security guards are watching this they should be ashamed of themselves for causing you son Andy with learning difficulties have a meltdown. P.S I have cearable palsy and behavioural problems I know how Andy feels. Sending love from Norfolk.
Hugs to you all. The O2 should have a hub for special needs to go to. Camera rules should be adequately displayed before entrance and explained on website. Security guards need training to understand the rules and autism. Im worried about my sons meltdowns as he ages. Getting bigger and stronger, i will get hurt. For me it never easy to decide how to handle a meltdown using consequences before something is detroyed beyond repair. Love you guys!
Love u guys hope this vlog goes viral and wish people who work in shops attractions see implications of stupid rules bee autism support for over 15 years and feel the pain xx
One city of recommendation for you guys especially andy is Amsterdam because it is confirmed that they are building a euro star to it and cheap flights also not to far for Andy and lots of trains, trams, canals and boat rides and every time you go to Lego land he loves the Holland windmills that they have just outside of Amsterdam.
I have a several nonverbal autistic 24 year old he went threw meltdowns as well he is a lot better now that he is older he lives in a group home he just loves it
We took my twins to Poole a couple weeks ago, was a similar nightmare for 5 days , both boys have ASD and all the change just created meltdowns and stress , I know how you all feel 😟
I feel for u both, i have 3 and half year old little girl who was diagnosed 6 months ago, she is non verbal and has limited understanding, we r only seem to be having meltdowns when tired which she is then inconsolable, so different type of meltdown at moment , i hope i have the same level as patience as u guys in future if the type of meltdown changes 💗
I was be going to Gran Canis with my granny back in August as part of my 21st birthday but due to the pandemic restrictions we didn't go because we didn't want to take the risk. So we ended up booking a five day bus tour to Scarborough, England instead. I got food prisoning with the food I ate at the hotel on the first night which the food was unateable. What tier of restrictions you guys are in right now? because I'm in tier 3 with the roughest restrictions and I live in North Lanarkshire, Scotland :)
Disgusted with the O2. Incredible that these pencil pushing idiots can see and intervene about him filming a digital display but can’t intervene and help when he’s in full meltdown and you guys are clearly and understandably struggling!! I want to complain for you!! I’m so angry for you. My heart broke for Anna when she walked in after you detailed what happened. She looked so broken. Can’t imagine how it feels for her. Really hope things improve 💛
I dont think its pencil pushing idiots that are entirely to blame. I think the majority of the blame has to lie with these security guards in places like O2. Give some of them a uniform then they think they're invincible. I'm also disabled though mine is physical and I've had that kind of treatment from security guards in supermarkets and similar establishments all my life. I've even had it by the police. There needs to be much better disability awareness training given to people like this.
Pencil pushers and those on a power trip in their polyester uniform. I’m sorry you have to deal with this disgraceful treatment and disrespect too. It doesn’t take much to be a little understanding to those that have any sort of issue, does it. I agree there should be training - but surely basic human decency should indicate that some people need a bit more help and/or understanding
I’m so sorry that Andy’s trip has not gone according to plan. I hope that you can still enjoy yourselves. The O2 has cancelled the use of cameras due to it being an event area which is annoying. I know because my partner had his camera confiscated while filming a day out for his birthday. However that was in the event area itself but I suppose with live events being cancelled, they have to extend the strictness due to privacy. I hope you do enjoy Legoland and enjoy London.
I can’t believe they allow you to film on a phone which you could be live streaming to the whole world but you can’t film on a little camera. Makes no sense to me poor Andy it was one knock too many after so many changes he has over come. You are both fantastic parents and such a great loving family. You can get through anything as a team.
aww its so hard isnt it, anna looked so sad bless her. my 7 year old had a meltdown yesterday witch resulted in his tv being smashed so we had to go out today to get a replacement. some of my friends was telling my i should not do that but they dont understand its not his fault. hope you all have a lovely time in legoland :)
God, I feel for you all! So, the O2's ignorance nearly ruined your holiday. I don't have a camera but as an autistic adult it's put me off ever going to the o2.

You are both amazing parents❤️
I'm sorry to hear about what happened, looking at the pictures on Instagram you did go to legoland and If any of the O2 security guards are watching this they should be ashamed of themselves for causing you son Andy with learning difficulties have a meltdown.
P.S I have cearable palsy and behavioural problems I know how Andy feels.
Sending love from Norfolk.
Well it’s not like they knew he was autistic. They were just trying to enforce the rules.
Hope your holiday has improved and you all had a great time
give the o2 a 1 star review on trip advisor this treatment is disgusting
That’ll learn them 😂 it’s the pandemic
Hugs to you all. The O2 should have a hub for special needs to go to. Camera rules should be adequately displayed before entrance and explained on website. Security guards need training to understand the rules and autism. Im worried about my sons meltdowns as he ages. Getting bigger and stronger, i will get hurt. For me it never easy to decide how to handle a meltdown using consequences before something is detroyed beyond repair. Love you guys!
Hi I think you did a great job, I really hope that Andy now feels happier, have a great day 😁👍
Love u guys hope this vlog goes viral and wish people who work in shops attractions see implications of stupid rules bee autism support for over 15 years and feel the pain xx
Hopefully the rest of your holiday is good!
I think Safe handling training needs to be on your todo list Kev
Hope the rest of your holiday goes well Kev
You can do it Anna your so so strong x
One city of recommendation for you guys especially andy is Amsterdam because it is confirmed that they are building a euro star to it and cheap flights also not to far for Andy and lots of trains, trams, canals and boat rides and every time you go to Lego land he loves the Holland windmills that they have just outside of Amsterdam.
Gosh you guys have an astounding amount of patience! I however, do not 😅
I have a several nonverbal autistic 24 year old he went threw meltdowns as well he is a lot better now that he is older he lives in a group home he just loves it
poor andy, thoes security guards guards need to be more understanding. i have autism and rule changing would destress me too.
We took my twins to Poole a couple weeks ago, was a similar nightmare for 5 days , both boys have ASD and all the change just created meltdowns and stress , I know how you all feel 😟
I hope Andy gets better 👍👍😊😊
You guys are doing an awesome job. 👍
Awwwwww poor Andy!!! 😥😥😥
Well to be fair what are they gonna help with when he’s having a meltdown? it’s not their kid they aren’t just gonna go and spank him
Love your vids
I’m so sorry that Andy’s trip has not gone according to plan. I hope that you can still enjoy yourselves.
The O2 has cancelled the use of cameras due to it being an event area which is annoying. I know because my partner had his camera confiscated while filming a day out for his birthday. However that was in the event area itself but I suppose with live events being cancelled, they have to extend the strictness due to privacy. I hope you do enjoy Legoland and enjoy London.
Omg poor Andy, something obviously sparked it... some people just don’t get Autism😕
I can’t believe they allow you to film on a phone which you could be live streaming to the whole world but you can’t film on a little camera. Makes no sense to me poor Andy it was one knock too many after so many changes he has over come. You are both fantastic parents and such a great loving family. You can get through anything as a team.
Poor lad. Both great parents though, must be frustrating for both of you that the O2 staff weren’t trained in anyway to deal with meltdowns.
aww its so hard isnt it, anna looked so sad bless her. my 7 year old had a meltdown yesterday witch resulted in his tv being smashed so we had to go out today to get a replacement. some of my friends was telling my i should not do that but they dont understand its not his fault. hope you all have a lovely time in legoland :)
God, I feel for you all! So, the O2's ignorance nearly ruined your holiday. I don't have a camera but as an autistic adult it's put me off ever going to the o2.
The lack of consideration for those with autism is ridiculous
Em Morris I agree with you but that’s the rule the O2 have made its the same for everyone there.
I agree with you
Daily discrimination becomes the norm, you just have to learn to live with it.
@@sauloconnor1572 But Andy as autism they should make an expection but they don't care at all
Ben Willetts I’m sure they care. But rules are rules for the establishment.
