HI 😍💐 I had to do several breaks while I was filming because I needed to catch my breath 😆 the rummaging around in the deep south I did not realize I had disconnected the cable of my mic from the camera. I saw stars as I stood upright again... just thought... keep talking, stay focussed and don't pass out so close to almost being done 😆 story of my life these past weeks!! So kind of you to take the time to watch the video and enjoy the update of these orchids with me! I have others that are doing things I have not seen before, good things, but ... we did not need a tele novella 😆😂😂 hope your weekend was fabulous 🫶🏼❤️🌸
I was just discussing with another orchid lover how ya' just gotta' enjoy the journey. If all you live for in growing these creatures is blooms, it is sad as there is such joy in seeing new roots, leaf growth, and the very life of the plant, itself. It makes me happy to see you celebrate the milestones and new knowledge. Thank you for your enthusiasm and showing us how to evolve around the struggles.
😍💐amiga mi, Kelly, hi!! I now have a huge grin on my face, thanks to you! I live for all the reasons that you just mentioned, and blooms are a bonus! My mantra is... just live and the rest will come at some point. I can work with orchids that are alive, whereas the ones that have left the collection... can't work with those anymore, so, your conversation with another orchid lover is spot on! I concur 👍🏼 👍🏼thank YOU so much for being here, for YOUR support and the time you take watching the videos. It really goes a long way and I truly appreciate every single second you take also to write such kind comments! Much appreciated 🫶🏼❤️🌸 (still smiling 😃)
🦋🦇😍 very surprised, but I will take anything that signals 'they're ok' as we head into the winter. Very pleased! Now, hopefully I can avoid deficiencies getting worse 🤞🏼I will deal with that challenge as and when I get there, but for now 🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️🙌🏼 thank you for watching, Wingman 🫶🏼❤️🌸
😍💐HI RaeAnn! Right?? 🥳🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🙌🏼 woohoo!! They have their battle scars and yet 🙏🏼 so grateful!! Thank you so much for watching, lovely lady! I hope you had a wonderful Sunday 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Right?? was in reference to your party bags (or whatever the name is for those emojis! 😆) I am sorry that it got lost in translation with how I started my comment to you! I was agreeing with your 🎉🎉🎉 by saying 'Right??' ... I did not forget who you are 😘😘
HI Andrea 😍💐 they are looking a little shabby, but I am glad that they did much better than expected this year. Phew! I have hope. I am not counting my chickens until April 2024, though. Still, it was nice to see how these grew new growths at a time when they normally dont 🙏🏼 thank you so much for watching, lovely lady 🫶🏼 wishing you a relaxing evening, after what I hope was a beautiful day ❤️🌸
Ruth, hi 😍💐 welcome!! I have not seen you here before, and you confirmed that with your comment, so... first of all a warm warm welcome and massive thank yous for being here, for watching and for subscribing 🫶🏼 I truly appreciate the support. Glad that I earned your vote of confidence 🙏🏼🥳 hope you had a wonderful weekend, Ruth, its so good to have you here 🫶🏼❤️🌸
HI Shirley 😍💐 thank you, lovely lady, for your encouraging comment. The one from The Orchid Room... I am so anticipating blooms on that one, kinda disappointed that none of the 4 growths felt it was time to grace us with blooms. Oh well.... now the mission is to bring them safely through the winter 😉 from one mission to the other one!! Hope your day is a beautiful one, Shirley 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Fantastic update Nina!! I so appreciate seeing your Catts and Laelias, the scope of what they can do even in some challenging circumstances. 🥳🥳🥳 On the double spikes of your Bosseri. I have a couple Angraecums now, a magdalenae and a little rutenbergianum, also a little Jumellea confusa. They all have been transitioned to semi-hydro with pumice, The confusa was done just over a month ago and has taken off with roots and growth. I had a few of my Catt hybrids and Laelia purpurata(a little sunburn) outside under doubled 40% shade cloth = about 65% along with my cataseinae. They slowed/rested after blooming and transition to semi-hydro(pumice), and new hot environment, but have since picked up growing. The purpurata now has two directions of growth, so hoping for two spikes next spring. One of my stubborn to nonblooming Catt hybrids has a yellow arc where the leaf meets the pseudobulb. It does have a bit of magnesium deficiency which I am treating, but that arc is peculiar since none others show it. I remember you saying that during transition orchids can show deficiencies simply because they don't have the root system to uptake the nutrients properly even when the nutrients are present in the feed. I am unable to see the roots through the black pot so I'm riding it out for now and watching the beautiful new growths progress with sheaths. I am treating all my Catts/Laelias with epsom salts as these seem to need it in ample quantity. Thank you for this wonderful update. 🙏😘🤗❤
HI Robi 😍💐 I hope you are enjoying your warmer climate as much as your orchids clearly are 🙌🏼 ride out the transition, if other structures are holding their positions well, then all will be well. I still have orchids that show the deficiency from years ago when I repotted them, older leaves but they serve a great visual reminder of what the orchid needs more of. That is my story and I am sticking to it 😎 I mean, once I gave a paph some fertilizer, a quantity that I considered low and she immediately objected with on leaf tip burning. That was after her damaged fan had died off from the first time I fertilized her. So, for the likes of me, I am not fussed if older structures show deficiencies because this way, I don't have to keep running to my notes, I see the need which is a great reminder 👍🏼 😅 so happy to see you! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to watch and leave a comment 🫶🏼 thank you so much for watching! Have a wonderful rest of your day ❤️🌸
@@NinjaOrchids Thank you for your feedback Nina! 🙏 It was reaffirming to read that older structures may continue to display signs of previous deficiencies. I had a notion that they should resolve, but understanding now this is not always the case, and can be a good reminder to stay on it for the hungry Cattleya types. The warmth of summer is definitely waning now. It's not uncommon to have -10 to -30C during winter. I know... COLD! 😬 Have a beautiful day Nina! 🙏😘🤗❤
HI 😍💐 working on deficiencies now... some have surprised me with double growths within a single growing season that I had stopped with fertilizer because they were resting... well, happy shocker, but I am seriously playing catch up 😂 now... blooms anyone? Hopefully? 🙏🏼😂 thank you so much for watching! I wish you a relaxing Sunday evening 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Nina, Your Catts look amazing! So glad your dowiana is doing so well.❤ I finally bought a humidifier to put in my growing area to try to keep my humidity at 30%💧 or better for at least 8 hrs a day. Some day I would love to have a greenhouse to give my babies a better environment. Hugs and well wishes, Sherrii San🥷🪷💖
🌸🥷🏼 Sherrii San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 hello beautiful! Ooohh a greenhouse! Yes, I dream of an annex of sorts that acts like a greenhouse but attached to the main part of the property where I don't have to walk outside to get there. I hope that your dream will come true because it is so exciting. Same as preparing a space for newcomers 🥰😉 greenhouse annex is on my bucketlist of dreams. Thank you for watching and catching up with this group of shabby looking orchids that still give me the feels of hope 😊 have a wonderful day, 🌸🥷🏼 you are so appreciated 🫶🏼❤️🌸
@NinjaOrchids Oooooh, a greenhouse annex or sun room where I wouldn't have to go outside in the snow in winter would be amazing!😍💖 Unfortunately, it would be much more expensive $$$ for me than a greenhouse kit. But it is a wonderful idea. Pray I hit the lottery BIG!💰🎊😁🎉 💖🥷🪷💖

🦒💐👏💖🥰 Yay, congratulations on the double spike. Bosseri doing its magic ❤ Cattleyas are so full of surprised, double, triple, quadruple psb, that is so awesome 😘😘😘😘
FFF 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 good evening, once again, meine liebe Freundin!! Bosseri.... woohoo!! I hope I don't mess this up 🙏🏼🙏🏼🫣 that stabby stabby root is not going to be alone in the grow space, the Tomorrow Star has a new one as well, its as if the two of them are in competition with each other 🤯🤪 I am glad that some of my cattleyas are showing different dynamics this year during the right time of year. I think it took them 2 seasons to adapt to the dark winters, after being used to livin' la vida the previous years. Reacclimating 🙏🏼 very grateful! I did not add that conclusion in the video because my brain did not have enough oxygen ... but, in other videos, I will point that out. It is a logical and reasonable explanation. Makes sense to me 😃 thank you so very much for watching, my beautiful neighbor!! 🫶🏼❤️🌸
That is exciting to see dowiana doing well, I know you definitely didn't want to lose that one. The newest growth on Cruziero looks a little shorter but a little chonkier, I think chonkier is better, and maybe the next one will be both taller and chonkier. Hopefully your winter will be shorter and milder than last year and you won't have to be on edge for five months.
Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! Definitely do NOT want to loose dowiana, you are soooo right!! Yep, Durigan is chonkier... new word? I have never heard of chonkier before, but I like it 😃 it fits! It is not chunky but has a different level of umpf to it. Nice!! 👍🏼👍🏼if I remember, I may adopt on occasions! I had stopped fertilizing after I took the blooms off, just flushing and contemplating potting her up in lava rock because.... bifoliate! I did not have another new growth on the radar until end January or February. Well, temps are dropping next week, lots of rain predicted as well. I have my extension cord ready to go 🥲 this is no bueno, because it comes 4 weeks too soon to be having temps drop to where I need to blanket the angreacums. Last year I did that for one night mid November. So... I am going to hope that the winter will be shorter. I suppose, the sooner it comes, the sooner it will go, right? or... no, it doesn't work that way 😓 its like waiting for a storm you know is coming but can't get away from it. (you know all about how that feels, I am sure) really appreciate you for watching, Michael, thank you so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼 hope your Sunday was just that, SUN during the day 🥰 🫶🏼❤️🌸
HI BeBe 😍💐 thank you, BeBe, for your supportive comment. With my deficiencies and a rotting bulb, sunburn etc, this gaggle has at least done a lot more than I could expect from them. Now... I hope that April 2024, the head count of orchids post winter better include this gaggle 😆 thank you so much for watching!! I hope your Monday is going beautifully for you and wish you the same, have a great week 🫶🏼❤️🌸
My only mounted cattleya collected in 2014 finally bloomed for me in 2020 and I remounted after a division into two on to two massive wood logs and are growing well and competing each other on spiking. After seeing the amazing blooms, I started collecting a number of cattleyas from desi growers, some seedlings and some matured all without tags.I know very well that cattleyas are cattleyas, a class apart among orchids.Thank you so much for your wonderful update 1of your .cattleya alliance.
🌸🥷🏼 Director Jose San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 good Monday morning to you, my friend! You have yourself a very vigorous performer now, amigo mio! 6 years to blooming and since divided and now growing in several different set ups but all in beast mode, THAT is a keeper!! 🥳🥳 congratulations! Cattleyas are special!! I am always amazed as to how the buds form, how the lip is in the bud all bunched up and sometimes has to burst forth before the bud really opens, because there is not enough space in there 😅 marvelous plants and I am happy that your collection is growing! Muchos flores en tu futuro, amigo!! Thank YOU so much for watching 🌸🥷🏼🫶🏼 thank YOU so much for everything ❤️🌸
HI 😍💐 I was happy to be able to get this one with a rupicolous laelia order that I placed directly from Brazil. And, I was happy that she settled in so willingly, without any sign of orchid jet lag 👍🏼👍🏼 for a bifoliate, that is a blessing 😂 I hope you find one because, so far, she has not given me any trouble. On the contrary, as I get her needs dialled in, she has been a sensational performer 👍🏼 thank you so much for watching! Hope you had a wonderful weekend 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Hi Do you use micro nutrients?? Plants in general need small quantities of Boron, Iron, Zinc, Cobalt, Copper, Manganese and Molybdenum. This is apart from Calcium, Magnesium- Sulfur (Epsom Salt). Calcium Nitrate is generally Nitrogen and Magnesium. Your plants maybe having other deficiencies. Try using a separate micro nutrient fertilizer (Apart from NPK), HALF strength, ONCE a month. Mostly during growing season. I hope this helps. Have a Lovely Sunday
HI Nilesh 😍💐 yes, my fertilizer has all of the required macronutrients in it. I did a video on the ingredients of an orchid specific fertilizer and why they are needed ruclips.net/video/dYWRrTpPMbM/видео.html just in case you might want to double check the information in it? Get your take on it? At certain times of the year, I focus on specific components based on the conditions my orchids are going to face, or are facing. Especially leading into the winter, and coming out late winter, I focus on nutrients that I feel my orchids need more of because of low light levels, and cold damp conditions when rot can become a real danger. The rest of the year, they are getting my orchid specific fertilizer. I also have to get to know my orchids when they come in new. Unfortunately that can take several years to dial in because these wonderful creatures grow so slowly 😅 really appreciate your insight in the comments, Nilesh! Thank you so much for creating that awareness for anyone reading the comments and thank you for watching 🫶🏼 hope you had a wonderful weekend and I wish you a great start to the new week ❤️🌸
@@NinjaOrchids Okay. I will watch that video.Thank You. As I had mentioned before I used to Terrace Garden, so I apply the same principles here. I only do not fertilize in Winter, rest of the year I continuously fertilize. I have to admit, I do not have the variety/ species/ number of orchids you have also the knowledge you have amassed over the years. Thank You for sharing. Have a Lovely week
I so struggle with the Cattleyas. I've been watching your vids trying to get my courage up. I've gotten a few lalia's and lucky for me they were putting out new roots when I got them and they seem to have adapted to the pumice just fine.
🌸🥷🏼 Julie San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 good morning, Beautiful 🫶🏼 I hope you had a wonderful weekend, that your Monday is off to a wonderful start with the perfect beverage in hand, sunshine and warming temperatures! Beautifully bright eyed and bushy tailed 💐 is waiting for you in your office 😘 when you find a cattleya you like, even if she doesn't have new roots growing, buy her! Care for her as per the media she comes in and when new roots grow, you are good to go 👍🏼👍🏼 take advantage of any and every cattleya that catches your eye and wait for new roots #winning 🫶🏼 thank you so very much for watching, 🌸🥷🏼 thank you so much for everything you do!! Thank you so much for being YOU 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Yes, keep fertilizing! The same with a phal that has a spike coming in (congratulations by the way 🥳🥳) any sign of active growth, keep fertilizing!! And Happy Growing 🥳🥳
And do you ever cut the orchids to get more of a bushy plant? I heard about it when I got my first two cattleyas and I of it, they did grow new bulbs, but it was so scary to do.
Yes, I do, I have and only one has responded so far. Because of the lack of indoor space, I normally resort to making distinct divisions so that I can continue to grow the orchid as opposed to having specimens that won't fit indoors anymore. But, I have done it and that lead is taking forever to mature to blooming size. It took 2 years for a new eye to activate in that area as well, soooo, that would make it 3 years since I made that cut. As you have already had success with cutting the rhizome, maybe you are not interested in this video, but I am going to link it here anyway 🫣 ruclips.net/video/1QRjhRmvDZ0/видео.html just in case! 🥰
HI 😍💐 weekend vibes in my comment just as I am about to say goodbye to the weekend, but here you are... extending them for a smidge longer 😘 this is quite the collection of my top guns, yes. I did not realize that all these were highly prized in my collection as I was pulling them to show them. My maxima is still .... well, no blooms this year, but 4 new growths and with that 4 new root systems. I was so hoping to be able to waltz that one on to the staging area right at the end, but nope! Maybe it is delayed. It should have bloomed by now or at least should be showing buds forming 🥲 forgive my greediness! I so appreciate you being here! I cannot tell you that now when I see your name, I am so relieved, happy etc. Many months of concern for you, hoping to one day see you back in the comments.
After seeing the amazing blooms, I started collecting a number of cattleyas from desi growers, some seedlings and some matured all without tags.I know very well that cattleyas are cattleyas, a class apart among orchids.Thank you so much for your wonderful update
1of your .cattleya alliance.
Gosh.. I hope I can own a catt Durigan. It's very hard to find here.
Hi
Do you use micro nutrients??
Same to you, Nilesh, thank you 🫶🏼

Thank you so much for being YOU 🫶🏼❤️🌸
So as long as a cattleya is growing a new pseudobulb, I can fertilize? Is it the same for phalaenopsis that have a spike coming in?
Yes, keep fertilizing! The same with a phal that has a spike coming in (congratulations by the way 🥳🥳) any sign of active growth, keep fertilizing!! And Happy Growing 🥳🥳
And do you ever cut the orchids to get more of a bushy plant? I heard about it when I got my first two cattleyas and I of it, they did grow new bulbs, but it was so scary to do.
Anch'io vorrei saperlo
Pupurata's.. dowiana.. durrigan.. & a Hairy 🐷..oh my... so jealous🤢 STOP touching them .
This makes me happy, my friend 🫶🏼 hope your Sunday was beautiful ❤️ thank you so much for watching 🌸
