      DJ Rick Web Hope yours is smooth. My next one sucks cause the 6th and 7th graders are on one level and 8th graders are already on high school dance mode.

      I DJed middle school dances for 4 years, and found the best way to handle that was just leaving a clipboard out and announcing any requests could be left there. It was more of just a distraction for the dozens of requests coming in, and the songs would be all over the spectrum, but they look good on my wall as art! i.imgur.com/MIKNrOq.jpg

    Good gig log! You're over critical of yourself. Stressing yourself out. The fire alarm senses particulates in the air. Too much from a fog machine, or even hazer sets them off. Some systems sense heat, those are better. They don't go off from fog. Fog may damage HVAC systems, too. Those Kids better be careful.

    Nice video! I did a homecoming on the 14th running dual k12s and dual 181s. Followed your advice on 2 into the first and out to the 2nd and it worked really well. Sadly the school didn't let me record otherwise a gig log would be out

    I prepping to do my first school dance. (homecoming) due to covid it will be out in the tennis courts. I'm planning to use a regular fogger blowing through a turbo fan to distribute the fog outdoors.
    I'm using the 10 foot high fence to mount my lighting. Four moving dmx heads, 8 dmx pars, and one dmx mini kinta. Sound is crest audio pa 15/horn and 18 inch subs powered by bi-amped crown amps.

  • @davidperry4013
    @davidperry4013 3 года назад

    Try throwing in a dry ice cloud machine in one of those school dances to get a thick dense low-lying fog effect without triggering the fire alarm. The only side effect is that it makes the floor moist.

      +J Remedy using an oil bases hazer. Just run it until you can see the beams on setup. Shut it off then run 2 minute burst every 20 to 30 minutes. Works great

  • @flashanddancedj

    Nice setup... Your feedback is what we call Rumble. Anything in the typical male voice 80 Hz and below will cause it and also due to the type of room your are in... Try rolling off some low end on your microphone input on your SZ. I Also own a Driverack PA2. I also use no low end on my microphones for this very reason. You don't need to remove it all just till there is a little going through... I find that it helps clear up the high end (semblance) when speaking. Just a few tidbits... I also noticed a Hazer. 90% of High Schools have Photo sensors that are laser operated. So Haze or Fog will set it off. If you still want to use it check with the local fire dept and see if you can hire a Fire Watch. You pay a fee to the local fire Dept and they supply you with a Fireman or woman on site so the Photo Sensors can be shut off... I have done this numinous times also make sure it is also not against your town bylaws. In MA certain types of special effects can not be used in certain types of situations...

    Great gig log. Love the walk through. I have a homecoming this weekend I will be logging and I've been thinking about the set up I want to do all week. So this helped with leaning to one direction I was thinking about. I'll be running 2 12's and 2 15' then 2 18's. I was thinking put them close but after your log I may spread them out, Thanks. Look for the shout out next weekend to you.

    Great job and set up but for future reference if you using the driverack for crossover for your system you do not need to use crossover processor on the powered speakers (top or subs), or the eq settings let the driverack do all speaker processing for the system set the high pass on the driverack to 80-100hz and run your SRX top boxes full range same for subs. You essentially don’t wanna double crossover your system you can lose some sonic bandwidth in that 80-100hz crossover range. They put crossovers on the powered speakers now so just in case you don’t have a crossover processor in your system it a lil added bonus feature. I use powered and passive/amp speaker systems and I have driverack for each amp rack and they work wonders once you learn how to set them up. Work on using that subharmonics features in the driverack it will make them VRX really sound good. Thanks and enjoy

  • @henniewagner
    @henniewagner 7 лет назад +9

    Performance wise 2 subs output the same as 1 double sub. Now I'm not going to jump into price, but I would rather have 4 VRX 918SP's for transport, smaller gigs and more configuration/setup options than just having 2 SRX 828SP's. The VRX's are also a better choice for the production/acoustic future.

    You should ditch the drive rack and use the DPS on the SRX tops. The SRX DSP is excellent and easy to use with Audio Architect.
    Bypass the DSP on the Driverack and just use it for feedback suppression.

    Also as far as the amount of bass you go from your older sub set up, that because of coupling... with 4 subs you essentially added 3db of bass (might not sound like a lot) but when you hear it it’s a big difference. Add 2 more vrx subs you will Get the same effect. just because the vrx subs have more wattage and louder than your other subs don’t mean they necessarily will be better depends on the set up and acoustic. They are very good subs but the more you use you can get that coupling in the lower frequency and they will hit harder with that more chest pounding bass. Keep playing around with the sub set ups and also eq settings it makes a big difference from venue to venue and to also cut out unwanted feedback turn down that dreaded 250hz that the “ringing’ frequency

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  7 лет назад +1

      +djaceproductions yeah been using the subs and tops for a decent amount of gigs now. And have landed on running internal cross overs on the tops at 100hz (i run full out via the drive rack). Then the subs I crossover via the driverack at 100 hz and also do a low cut at 36 hz. Then I use the graphic eq on the drive rack to fine tune the system to the room. I still havent figured out how to optimize sub harmonic yet. Still cant find a setting where I notice it doing anything extra

    Love all of your videos, keep up the great work ! ! ! Do you have any plans to do a video about using the DBX DriveRack PA 2? I purchased one and I'm having a hard time setting it up with my EV System (ETX 18sp & ETX 15 p) Trying to use the auto wizard setup has been a nightmare for me ? Thanks in advance, DJ Denny Den

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  7 лет назад

      +Dennis Gist when you set it up just make all the options as unlisted. Unlisted speakers passive. Subs yes. Unlisted. Unlisted amps for both. Then you can mess around and create a profile for your evs. Setting up the limiters you want and the parametric for both out puts. A video is in the works but it will be a bit

But yeah man love your videos and hope to meet you one day! Keep up the good work. And HOW THE HECK DID YOU GET YOUR LOGO GOBO?! That's so sick man great addition to the setup!

      +Anthony Garcia DJVlogs made a whole video on the custom gobos that I have in my movers. And I have been on record pools for years. Problem is high schools are never just on the trend lot of time they are listening to music that hasnt made it to the record pool charts. This is Why Every DJ that has a Fog/Haze Machine to Check for smoke detector or other device that sets off the Fire Alarm. Even if there are no Smoke detectors or a Fire Alarm System in the building, I get complaints that it is gonna set the Fire Alarm off but I have to explain that there are no detectors anywhere. I talk to someone that own the place if they have any Device such as a Smoke Detector or Fire Alarm System just to make sure it won't set off the Fire Alarm because there may be detectors in the ducts or above the Drop Ceiling

    I know this is an old video, but do you delay your subs when they’re that much in front of the tops? Also, all other things being equal, 4 subs would put out 3dB more than 2 subs

      Because the other side of the floor is the main gym floor. And it was newly put in less then a year ago. Dont want to damage it

      mrspeakerman what are those worth? And do they need a transmitter?

    • @djjax2641
      @djjax2641 7 лет назад

      they don't need a transmitter! you can control them with your phone! but that's when there's not many of them. when it get's to a big event and there's more then 20 or around that, then you need a transmitter. and it depends on how many you get on how much it costs. for 1 it will be around $2 (Australian money)
