Thanks for the video.. can you get replacement shells for the flip? may be a good video to see it being replaced. I was tempted with the flip but my RP2+ works fine ..
You may be able to at some point. I reached out to Retroid about the broken hinge, and they offered me a replacement shell as one of the opiton during the RMA process. So, I assume that this means it might become available for purchase in their DIY section eventually. I agree that would make a good video. The RP2+ is a solid device. If you do pick up a flip, and it has an issue, Retroid will replace it, so at least that can give you a bit more confidence in the purchase.
@@muzzworks Thanks for uploading! Out of curiosity, which replacement did you end up getting? Is the build quality different on the new shell/color? Edit: I ordered the black one, will arrive next week.
@xXinsaneboyXx From what I have seen, the cracking seems to be more prevalent in the limited edition version. That’s not to say that it doesn’t occur in the others. The black one is a good choice. I honestly can’t say I have seen anyone show a picture of that one with a crack yet. I went with a full replacement from retroid, rather than a replacement shell. I have had it for a few weeks now with no issues yet.
The hinge failure rate is actually quite low given the number of units sold. It's a thing, just not a huge thing and honestly, even Nintendo couldn't get the bloody hinge right on ANY of the bloody handhelds.
Agreed, it seems that it may have been a few defective shells. Plus, Retroid has been replacing units with the issue. Not their best design but their customer service makes up for alot.
@@muzzworks I'll be honest, I'm happy that customer service is responsive in the situation. My 16 bit colour variant literally just shipped yesterday. 😉👍🤘

All flips going out now have updated hinges
Yes, good for them for not ignoring the issue. They not only replaced units but also identified and fixed the problem.

I think flip more portable
Definitely is more portable than most.
