- This footage of Jennifer Lopez auditioning for a spot on the “In Living Color” Fly Girl dance squad in front of Rosie Perez was first unearthed by Inside Edition in 2004. Long before she was a household name as an actress, singer and dancer, J.Lo had to try out for a spot on the hit show like everyone else. I love and respect Jlo because she is the perfect example of if you believe in yourself, you can make it. She never had a great voice, wasn’t even in the best dancer out there but she never gave up. You don’t need to be the best in anything to do what you love.

Rosie Perez was 100% correct! She said that she wanted Jennifer, but Keenan wanted the girl they selected. She said she knew it wasn't going to work out with the girl they selected because she didn't have Jennifer's raw ability, but she said that Keenan said Jennifer didn't look like the best to him, to paraphrase. In the end, that girl didn't work out and Keenan came back and told Rosie she could have Jennifer if she wanted, which she did. Jennifer was my favorite fly girl!
