The 2019 FIDE World Cup is taking place in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from 10 September to 4 October. The 128-player knockout tournament features most of the world's best players. The total prize fund is $1.6 million, with $110,000 for the winner and $6,000 for first round losers. The finalists will qualify for the 2020 Candidates Tournament that determines Magnus Carlsen's next World Championship challenger.
The format is six knockout rounds of 2-game classical matches before a 4-game final. The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. If the score is tied the players then play two 25-minute + 10-second increment rapid games, then two 10+10 games, then two 5+3 and, finally, Armageddon, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4 but a draw qualifies Black for the next round. The GM Laurent Fressinet agrees with you : during his commentary for the Sinquefield cup, he said that after talking with Firouzja, he had the same feeling as with Carlsen when he analyzes positions, the feeling of someone really exceptional. Fressinet is the guy "too weak, too slow" who work with Carlsen, he knows him well.

    Firouzja is a beast !!!!
9 months ago in World Rapid & World Blitz, he was leading with 4,5/5 on day 1 !!!
    both tournaments !!
    :D
didn't win it, since he was onlyyyyyy 15 years old !!!!!
But he put his name on the map,, Big Time !
He said he will be World Champion in 4 years !
And only has been making steady process since :)
Agad you know too little, saying Firouzja wouldn't want to go to rapid against Dubov, since Dubov is a beast !
Firouzja is as big of a beast !
Ding Liren is probably a little too much for him now :) However it is still possible now, he is not without chances!
But watch this young man in the next 2 years !
He will for sureeeee become top 10, and who knows what after that :D

11:35 what about Rd7 instead of Rb7? You block the attack on your d-pawn. If black captures the rook, then you queen with check. And if he moves his king to e8, you trade rooks and then queen with check. And finally, if he plays Ra8 to block the pawn, NOW you go Rb7, threatening Rb8+, and no matter where black puts his rook, you're going to queen. Even if he goes Re8+, you just hide the king on d3 and he's cooked. And of course, because he put his bishop on g6, it cannot help out because e4 is covered by your d-pawn.

    • @trendy10s36
      @trendy10s36 5 лет назад +1

Rxd7 will give black opportunity to draw or even win since the material will be close to equal (i think +1 for white) as you sacrificed a rook and pawn for a queen and you're already down a piece

    1. Put a computer strength bar on the side so we can know the assessment of the computer every move.
    2. Change the coloring on the speculated moves vs. the actual moves, so it is easier for us to watch the video, even without sounds.

Actually black can just go RA8 and then you slowly bring your king closer but this is much slower.

Poor Dubov. I really hope he makes the candidates this year. I want him to be world champ. Unlikely, but I'll start with candidates. He'll have to face Magnus this year if both make it to the round of 16, which is not an easy task.

Because King to E8 just negates it; white can queen, but bishop takes queen. White can take black rook, but king re-takes, and then pawn is hanging unable to queen.
