I have such a love hate relationship with this game 😅 so many hours spent exploring and having a great time with friends and so many hours lost to other players wiping our base as soon as we got off 😂 it’s exciting to see someone play for the first time I can’t wait to see where this story goes!

Absolutely fricking lootly! Ark is my favorite game of all time and seeing one of my favorite RUclipsrs play it makes this hard time in my life much more bearable.

I'm impressed you managed to knock out a trike without using tranq arrows! You'll need spoiled meat and narcoberries to make narcotics, which you can then use to make tranq arrows or to feed knocked out dinos to keep em sleepy. Herbs also tend to like purple berries better than the other ones!
You can do it pretty easily with a sling shot but I get what your trying to tell him
tranq arrows are pretty useful, but i don't know if he ever got the engram.
I do like seeing you playing Ark for the first time and I just wanted to give you a few beginner tips with taming dinos so you can have a slightly easier time doing it-
1) To knock out a dino you need blunt weapons that can do Torpidity damage(knock out damaged essentially) because sharp weapons won't do it.
2) You can force feed knocked out dinos Narcoberries to keep them asleep longer if needed. (Also Mejoberries are the preferred food for most herbivores when it comes to early taming food.)
3) If a dino has babies following it around you can claim the babies(taming them) after you either kill or tame the parent.
Those are my beginner tips for taming for you so I hope that they will be useful if you end up playing more Ark in the future.
I always prefer to play this game as more of a nomad- One dinosaur, just wandering around survivin'. It kinda gets ruined for me when you have a giant base and tons of dinosaurs
I find early game to be the best, like you said once you get a giant base and a ton of dinosaurs it starts to feel more like a chore. Especially when it comes to breeding
This is me with aberration. Beating island and scorch was fun cuz they are hard but no too hard and grundy. Then I got to aberration and my God is so fucking grindy and feels like a complete chore. Each time I get in the mood to play I play for like 30mins then get bored and get off lmao
You can have a big base with tons of dino's and still go out being a nomad with your favourite dino.. Just return every now and then to feed your dino's
that's true, I was playing on the island on some random server and I built a huge base with my friends, and then we never logged back on because feeding the dinos took forever because we had a lot of them, and some of them needed a lot of food.
Im glad to played ark and that you hopefully enjoyed it even with all the bugs and what not, curious tk see jf there will be more vids on it. First video ive watched in 2024, hope you get a lot lf achievements and good news in 2024, happy new years my man 🎉

The "I've been here for two minutes" happens alot in ark. It isn't a gret feeling when you spawn in on aberration just to get killed by a basilisk in 10 seconds (or raptors, carnos, ravagers etc).
Owl is such an amazing RUclipsr he can play anything from dinosaur survival games to horror games to cowboy games to now ark! And happy new year!
Some tips for you a hatchet gathers hide and stone better and a pickaxe gather meat and flint/metal better, I’d recommend when you are a high enough level to make a raft or two as they will give you a ton of xp when you craft it. Also the herbivores prefer eating the purple berries (mejo berry) it makes them tame faster and it raises the taming effectiveness which gives them more levels when you tame them

Loved it Owl, as someone who plays Ark a lot, I really appreciated the fact that you chose to learn through trial and error rather than searching the answers. It definitely makes it more authentic and entertaining! Also happy news years 🎉

@@sihiri_kabarioh definitely, I don’t blame anyone doing that at all but it’s just so much more fun seeing someone’s journey through a game when they’re totally new to it. I’ve found in many videos that when ppl do this I even learn a lot from it too, just like when Owl had a torch on his belt. I never knew you could do that till now. It’s just a fresh perspective and it’s cool how on games so well documented, there can still be the little things ppl find.

I'm also a relatively new Ark player myself, at least for legitimate solo survival gameplay. I want to give you some advice - acquire the tranq arrows blueprint, they're super easy to make needing only rotten meat and narcoberries for narcotics and then combining your arrows with said narcotics to make a borderline sureproof plan of knocking the dinosaur you want unconscious.
When you kill a dinosaur that you see traveling with a baby, if you quickly rush to the baby you can imprint on it and instantly tame it to be your own. You have to have its required food/diet on you, because as soon as it's tamed they have extremely low health and are starving - as you feed it make sure to stay by its side so that way it's safe while it matures to adulthood. I'd love to see you make more Ark videos! The game is a ton of fun so far and I've been having a blast myself.

Blunt weapons do torpor, so you can knock out low-level dinos. That is fists, slingshot, and clubs.
For high levels, you want the tranq arrows, which require narcotics.
I'll always remember my first night in Ark. Getting attacked by a dilo in my straw hut, then passing out because I ate some narco berries. Lol

ASA is cool if your PC can run it, but ASE might work way better/look better for you. A lot of strong PCs suffer from ASA including mine

So here are a few tips that could help you lots in the future :
-> axe gather more stone, wood and hide while pickaxe gather more flint/ metal/ cristal, thatch and meat,
-> when you have a stack of meat split them individually (make so instead you have a stack of ten, you have ten individual pieces idk if am clear?) so that it'll rot faster then you'll be able to make more narcotics for more trank arrows,
-> some dino's are good at gathering specific ressources : ankylosaur for metal, doedicurus for stone + you can harvest special ressources on certain dino's : trilobite for silica pearls and oil, kairuku for organic polymer,
-> if you want to level up your dino's faster make them destroy trees it gives lots of experience,
-> I highly recommend to boost your world settings so that you collect more ressources otherwise it will soon get tideous and VERY boring (and trust me, you'll need to gather LOTS of ressources in the near future and you don't want just 10 wood by tree or something like that),
-> I personally always have two bows on me in case one breaks but also just to have one for normal arrows and one for trank arrows (I also always have a minimun of 100 stone arrows on me, you never what will happen)
I could say a lot more about the map but I'll let you discover that by yourself :D

Ive been watching your isle vids... never played... but I have over 3000 hours in ark :) If you kill the parent you can tame the baby just by going up to it and feeding it. Also Bronto has a debuf to head... so never shoot it in head to get max damage.

Absolutely loved seeing your first time in ARK. It's one of my favorite game series, and seeing someone walk into the experience with a fresh approach and without looking everything up is amazingly satisfying. I found myself rooting for you throughout the video, even in spots where I knew you weren't going to be successful.
Please, do more ARK content. Your storytelling ability, your approach to commentary, and your general demeanor in the game and to the challeges you face are so compared to other people that play this game. Your persistence was also very much enjoyable and I hope you continue to make more ARK content.

If you kill a mother Dino, you can easy tame the baby... getting it to addault can be a challange tho

Ark is Unforgiving. If you do play again then here’s a taming guide. Make yourself a Mortal and pestle so you can start making narcotics. You can then use narcotics to make tranq arrows to knock out Dino’s faster! There’s a stat boost called taming effectiveness where a Dino will gain extra levels (up to half of its wild level at 100% effectiveness) if you feed it its preferred taming food. However, this stat does not increase once it has begun so if you feed let’s say a para some berries and it shot to 40% taming effectiveness, then it stays at 40%. Dinos also lose taming effectiveness if it takes too long to tame and if it takes damage while unconscious. The only way to reset its taming effectiveness is to have it wake back up and be knocked out again. If you’re playing on Vanilla settings then Max Dino level is 150. I hope you have fun with ARK, Owl! I’m sure plenty of us here are more than willing to give you any advice, tips, or guides on your journey on the Ark!
Edit: oh yeah! If you see a Dino with babies, then You can actually take them and raise them for yourself! All you have to do is brutally murder its parents or claim them after taming its parent!
Ark is rough. I’d played years ago but not PvP. Since ascended came out I’ve done about 300 hours of PvP. I play a solo PvP server and it’s still hard LoL. Last time I had a dude just spam my base at setup with like 30 c4 day 1 server xD

As a Legacy player who's been playing since this game came out, I hope you try to just learn the entire game on your own from scratch. I love seeing this. It brings back so much nostalgia for me. I love watching brand new players. 💛 Good luck and don't get attached lol the Arks give and the Arks take. Dedication is what's important, but if you play a lot this takes over your life. Play in moderation.

If you have a dino die, it will drop a bag that will have the saddle in it. You can still salvage the saddles from killed Dino’s.

This was my jam for years bro I'm an OG at this game and got the age to show for it 35 hahahaha. So any questions shoot me a comment. Although I've fallen out of all games admittedly.
Also the learning curve is immense in this. So many counters etc. Remember it's chess not checkers but still buggy as fuck lol.
The Parent company that owns Ark is god awful and a lot of us are boycotting it, but god damn does the new version look good. It's just a shame they are charging for it, when they said it would be a free upgrade. All because the parent company squandered the like 80 Million the original made.
I both happy and sad. Happy you play ark sad you paid for the scam version of the game. Survival ascended compared to Survival Evolved is just updated graphics and mods taken from the workshop.
Also at this point in time no dlc content for the scam game. They say it will come and be free of charge. I doubt it will be free of charge since they already announced “adventure packs” which will add new content to the already existing dlc’s I suspect these “adventure packs” will be the price of the dlc when it first came out or more. Bare in mind the content of these “adventure packs” are things that came as updates or part of a new map dlc in Survival evolved not stand alone things with a price tag.

Ark is an amazing game if you are finding it for the first time. I spent more 1000's of hours playing pvp/pve, than i'd like to admit. I am a salty veteran for different reasons, that for the most part don't affect pve. I loved the pvp part of the game, but it is too broken to be fair for anyone outside mega tribes, which isn't ark imo. Then pve is way overcrowded because one aspect ofthe game is having no building limitations in regards to number of bases and size. Pillars everywhere lol
After so many hours of playing Ark, this reminds me of when i started playing it, the thrill, the panic, the joy and the sadness... I loved it all, except pegos... i hate pegos... Anyway i love you content, it was nice to watch the new player experience, very nostalgic 👍
Getting attacked by raptors at spawn, even 2 minutes into the game is SUCH a typical Ark moment I swear to god. Glad to see you got the Ark Welcome!
You use the dinos to gather berries / thatch / wood / etc. Once you get them. Paras are good at getting berries early game. There's some pretty good tutorials. There's even an app that'll tell you how many tranq arrows,etc. a creature will need. But yeah, there's all sorts of good info around. I had to read up on this game when I first played it, going in blind was too aggravating.
Welcome to the Ark, Survivor. The other survivors are brutal, and the environment is unforgiving. But with mastery, comes Ascension.

some tips for you Owl: If you want more meat from corpses use the pick if you want more hide use the axe, for stone use the axe also and for flint the pick is the best option
You got the first tip down use rocks and the terrain to kite and escape. If you're ever getting chased by something lead it into something bigger 😉
Make a lot of bolas for the smaller faster predators Bola and bow or Bola and spear.
Back step at the appropriate speed and spear things from a distance. Or like you were trying to do fighting that dilo on a rock. Spear is your best friend primitively.
As someone who was told ark was' basically a farming sim with dinos' a few years back, your reaction to the spino was much more level headed then my one was😅 great video!!!!

My only complaint would be that when the camera goes underwater, his voice gets muffled. I don't like it when he does that personally.
It was good watching someone play this for the first time. I tried an Ark game years ago and didn’t enjoy it. Watching someone else play it is much more fun for me.

You could’ve had 2 Trikes, Once you Tame or unalive the parent then you can walk up to and claim (Imprint) the baby Trike and it’ll start to grow up! Also craft a regular Bow and use Tranq arrows for Higher tames or more dangerous tames, keep distance or get elevation because they’ll attack and probably 1 shot you with no armor on!

Definitely should continue this! Was fun watching you figure things out lol. I remember doing the same when I first got the game, then it fried my last pc lol.
