FEAST OF St. JOHN MARY VIANNEY
    Refer: Ex 16: 2-4.12-15/ Eph 4: 17, 20-24/ Jn 6: 24-35(4th August 2024)
Jesus foretold this marvel when he claimed, “I am the bread of life…. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world” (John 6:48, 51). This was not just a figure of speech. Jesus meant the words literally. When Jesus told the hungry crowds that he was the Bread of Life, he was teaching his followers that He alone was their true source of spiritual life, both in this present world and in the everlasting life to come. The Bread of Life that Jesus represents never perishes, spoils, or runs out. Those two elements are the cup and the bread. The cup represents the blood of Jesus that was shed on the Cross for the remission of our sin. The bread represents the body of Jesus that was broken for us. It is very popular to read First Corinthians 11:23-26 during Communion services.
