Cool video man 👍🏼
Thanks for the support 😀 I don't know if I've mentioned in the video but, don't use jumper/booster cables as battery relocation cable. Buy a welding ground wire instead!
4awg cable? seems a bit sketch.
Sketch as in the cables will heat up during cranking? or Sketch as in starter won't get enough juice to start?
The starter still works fine after doing this, and there is no noticeable heat build up from cracking the starter for 15 sec straight... (it takes only 3 sec to start)
But I would not recommend using booster cables as battery relocation cable because the cables are not copper. it's Copper-Clad-Aluminum. Get a welding cable instead they are also cheap and come in low gauges
the starter uses up to 250 cranking amps. 4 gauge isnt meant to run 15'-20' distance with those amps. look it up.
you know I've researched this a bit and there is a lot of things that confused me during research the amount of AMPS was one of those things.
yes people say that starter motor would use between 200-300AMPs on a V6... but then when looking at the specs of the starter I see it's only rated for 1400W?
1400W/200A = 7V that doesn't make sense... by my calculations I'm expecting 1400W starter could pull no more than 150amp
And please watch the second video with regards to 4 gauge wire. you will see what I did :)
Also I did look it up here is the chart I've used :)
BUT there is very little consistence between all the charts online. so if you know a source that shows how to calculate this instead of looking the chart. it would better.

I did my 2015 mustang v6. bought 15' 0/1 welding wire. like $80 on ebay. 2 gauge is the least i would go. My battery tray is metal. I would never use a plastic tray. I have thin foam padding on my ttay so its not sitting on bare metal. i have the optima red top
yes, I've learned that welding wire is more suited for this than jumper cables haha. Unfortunately I didn't know about Welding cables until after I've finished hte project
