What is Ecrew? When I had to uproot and move to Indiana, there was a car community called Bcrew (B for Bloomington, Indiana). These guys became my family. Instead of partying on the weekends, I was working on cars- and I loved it. Since starting youtube, I have started what I call Ecrew. It's not supposed to be some childish "Logang squad." It's a community where you get to take 10min out of your day and be involved in a build, but more importantly it's a family.

loss of power brakes and the engine stalling imho would be a leaking brake booster related. it could also explain the raising idle especially if you had your foot on the brakes. id start there.
Thanks for another video, Emelia! It was nice to see how things go over a period of a few days- that was nice. The Subie looks good brown or black, shiny or dirty, daytime or nighttime- she's just awesome. Can't wait to see what kind of mods are coming for her. That girl is a grudge racer!! Grudge racers don’t discuss horsepower or times or engines nothing!!
I remember my old car used to do that. It'd sometimes rev and sit higher then slow back down. When I'd get on the clutch (like at a stop sign) it'd dip down to about 400-600 rpm's and then slip back up to ~850. Later the check engine light came out and code said O2 sensor. THEN down the road it said cylinder 2 was misfiring. Long story short my head gasket blew. :(

check your alternator asswell as the alternator usually keep the car going even if the battery gets disconected

If you suspect the clutch was the cause of the white smoke, remove the delay valve inside the clutch slave cylinder and switch to dot 4, just be cautious when launching it afterwards.
Metallic rattling noises from that area comes from the clutch fork pivot pin. It needs a ton more grease then the factory recommends, it's a common problem.
If the starter's making metallic noise on start up then it needs to be cleaned and greased also. Electric grounds are so important on those cars
My blobeye wagon has the starter grind too. The idle thing may be throttle body related, mins would randomly do that until I manually pushed the cable back
GREAT VIDEO. How could you get any thumbs down, it's perfect. Some people are beyond perfect I guess.
Check your throttle cable. They can get sticky, especially if the protective cover on the cable is cracked
vacuum leak in the braking system. Check the hoses first. I had a hose with a little hole in it on the braking, and the idle was weird first then the power brakes came in and out.

also if your battery isnt properly grounded then your charging system isn't working properly. and when the vehicle isn't charging properly the computer raises the idle to try to get the alternator to bring the battery charge up.
Hey had a question the front passenger Axel on my 92 Legacy Subaru wagon separated at the hub would it work & b alright to cut the boots pull that one out & drive on 3 instead??
I had the same problem on my car around 3-4k rpm, changed the spark plugs and it was fine again. it came and went allot, often when it was a cold start.

My subie WRX had high idle when hot because the throttle cable for cruise is 2 tight from the factory and the heat made the cable tense up. So high engine bay heat=high idle

Throttle position sensor raising idle, and acting up at 4k rpm like you were saying, possibly, I've had a couple throttle sensors do that,
If you have a bad ground all the sensors loose the 5 volt reference and go nuts. This can happen with a bad battery or alternator as well

I have the grinding issue occasionally, from what ive seen on nasioc its most likely the starter actuator. I have a spare starter but Ive just been too lazy to swap them.
it’s starts bucking like that when you keep moving in the seat and your foot keeps pushing clutch in and out you don’t notice it.
reset the Idle Air control valve and do your 250 mile cycle first so the ecu can read the perimeters on drivability in town start stop etc... 500 miles she's ready to romp in the mud.
ken block just pointed out in one of his recent videos that when rally cars splash through deep puddles it always messes with electronics and other stuff because it basically shoots water into the engine bay.
I love the mud look! Maybe you can clear coat over it, or something, to preserve it for posterity. My Tacoma looks like that, just from daily driving. :D
my Honda did the same thing and it ended up being the Vtec solenoid.
I can't wait till I'm done with my project build it has a Subaru WRX turbocharged but I I am currently fairly close to putting the engine in my 1980 Volkswagen Beetle suckers going to rip
So one when it was raining there was so much water coming down that there where big puddles on the rain. I thought I was a good idea to find the biggest and deepest and drive trough them with much speed... After a few big slashes and atleast a foot deep puddle my impreza coughed. ah time to stop, it was fun while it lasted

metal grinsing noise when you start it is more than likely the starter being stuck on common subaru/wrx problem i think they all do it from time to time.

Try tapping the MAF sensor when its running it could have an interment connection.

Full House of Beautiful's including Emilia!!!! Change the Brake Booster it is the Vacuum leak where it has been sitting Cracked!!!
Your intercooler looks filthy it looks like it is full of hard mud and rocks! That will definitely decrease your air flow to your turbo and if there are any rocks in it, could cause damage to your turbo.
I would look into that ASAP! Same thing with the brakes if they mixed dirt and rocks that can be bad for the rotors and calibers. I'm surprised they didn't say something when you stopped by the garage? Wash your car lol. Cheers! Tim

maybe some mud got into the bell housing causing the clutch slippage. MAF is the more a likely cause if it was bogging tho. Slipping would be more obvious.
With poop turds loss of brakes I don't think that would have any relation to the battery. It's got vacuum or hydro assisted power brakes and voltage drops would have no effect if it's still running. If the car died and wasnt actually running then it could have effect.. but it was running from the sounds of it so it shouldnt have been an issue.

The grinding almost sounds like your exhaust is rubbing against your transmission mount. Check that and see what happens. I had that for a while until I got a more form fitting exhaust. Also, when you excelerate in 2nd at JUST barely under 2k RPM, (like 1900 even), do you get a weird grinding sound? I get that every time and I'm on the conclusion that it's either my engine being lugged or bad syncros.

Could also have bad bushings and body damage that would make it unroad worthy if dealing with a mechanic in Canada. Over there in the USA it's what ever i guess yet some state could yeild a different tune i suppose.
Arnt sensors great try driving at 4,000 rpm on city streets because a screwed up electronic crap out, Or it dies because the vacume reading or the knock sensor goes and it sounds like the motor is about to blow up.
How deep was the water she drove threw, Did she ever think that the ecu could have gotten wet witch would screw with the electronics like the idle, Breaks, Vacume maf sesor. ?
Sounds cheaper there to give your wheels a wash here it could be $4 dollars .
I think it's water in a connector in the harness or ecu

Check the one way valve to your brake booster or you have a brake booster going out.
Looks like your idle control valve is sticking. Pull it off and clean it. Put some lubricant into it and spin it around with your fingers until there's no resistance. Should stop it revving up

Your idle is a vacum leak but yes the battery has a lot to do with your idle bad ground can cause a lot of issues

I take a 1/2" pice of copper pipe cut it in half and a half inch long and put it in the battery cables terminals for a fix that lasts for ever.

But could mud have gotten in the clutch and caused the slipping... but then it wore off and the clutch worked again!
