Just did it to my 2013 flex and it worked. The radio will stay on like people say. So reach over and open the front passenger then close it. Should shut off the radio. Thank you a million times man.
Thanks for the video Corey, I have a 2013 Ford Flex limited we just did our rear drivers side door and it worked! A couple of things I leanered: The blue quick clip only has 1 through channel, I used a drill bit to open the other one up to accept both wires and used pliers to press the metal connector firmly into the wires. It actually didn't make connection the first time I tried it. I went with the bottom 2 wires because mine didn't match the colors mentioned, mine where yellow and yellow/black strip. The other 2 or top 2 wires where purple and gray. I would imagine all the doors have different colors. So try the bottom 2 first as Corey mentioned. Also when removing the door panel, it didn't just come right off there are 2 press in plastic clips towards the far side of the door, not the speaker side the other side, mine popped out when I went for it but a trim tool would have been nice, now I know where they are and that they pop straight out I'll use one next time. I left my door latch installed and disconnected the cable from it once the panel was off. It was handy to have a helper hold the panel while disconnecting and reconnecting the cable and window switch plug. Thanks to folks that leave comments they are helpful and thanks to youtubers for making helpful videos. Good luck everyone!
The one thing i will note, this works on the back doors but i couldnt get it to work on the front passanger door. Also, the wires i spliced was the yellow and the yellow/black wires. Great video, saved me 600$! Thank you!
I just got a price from the ford dealer. $350-400 This is a pain when it breaks. If I lock my doors sometimes the alarm goes off because of the faulty sensor. So I won’t lock the doors because of it . Your way isn’t perfect because the lights won’t turn on when you open the door but it’s the cheapest. Thanks for showing. I am gonna do this and be done of this problem and pocket the 400 dollars
The lights come on if you hit the unlock on your keyless entry. Assuming you have one. Mine is never unlocked no matter where it is. But yes I wasn’t about to pay $400 for a part that will probably go out in 3 months. I saw one video where a guy replaced 5 door locks until he wised up.
EFFING Ford should be ashamed. Bunch of us should get to gather and do a CLASS ACTION against the scumbags! Trashed my Edge battery 4 times now. And of course, I cannot lock the doors when this effing Door Ajar Bullshit happens!
Mine is the passenger door. I did the purple and green wires and all it did was disable my power locks on that door. I see now that people are saying the yellow & white wires, my question is, did you splice JUST the yellow and white wires together, or did you splice them together with a third color?
I just tired it on my 2013 for flex. Did the yellow and yellow and black wires and it did not work. Im just going to buy the sensor and install it. Especially after reading the comments.
I will be doing this for for my 2009 ford flex on the rear right door but if it were the driver side door..... i'll just let the stealership do it right, i guess
While this will fix the door ajar light it will kill your battery instead. Be ready to replace your battery about every year. So do the math what will cost you more to fix the issue. The infotainment system and some lights will stay on for a while after you leave the car. After replacing the battery twice I've decided to fix it properly. Hope this helps someone.
Why would it kill the battery? It’ll kill your battery when the sensor fails and you don’t do this because the car thinks your door is open. The splice causes the sensor to register that the door is closed, meaning it is safe to turn all functions of the car after 15 seconds or so.
I think he was trying to say the accessories stay on like radio but I believe after 10 min it all shuts down anyway, if the battery dies withing that time then the battery is bad to begin with.

You said your wires were different colors but were they still the bottom 2 when looking at them while plugged in?
@@jjrevis yes
Thank you so much just did this to my flex and it fixed my problem. Tired of my alarm going off at 3am and lights staying on 👍
What colors did you splice and which door was it
does your stereo stay on
Thank you for this video. Worked great on my 2014, same two wires. My wife couldn't be happier 😁.
thank you for posting this info. It works if done right. you must connect the bottom two wires.
Holy crap. This actually worked out for me!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for this video. I just did my rear door, and there was no more door ajar light.
I just got a price from the ford dealer. $350-400

Worked like a charm. Mine was a purple and yellow wire that had to be connected.
Is this a 5x9 speaker or a 6x8
Thank you soo much am subscribing
thank you man worked on my 2015 very easy thanks
Most of the quick splice connectors I see online have only one channel fully open on both ends. How did you get the connector around both wires?
I just used a razor blade knife to cut the plastic

Did you figure out which colors? Having the same issue.
My issue was the right rear door. I had to splice the yellow and yellow/black wires. Worked. 2013 Flex Limited.
I just tired it on my 2013 for flex. Did the yellow and yellow and black wires and it did not work. Im just going to buy the sensor and install it. Especially after reading the comments.
Does the radio stay on if the car thinks the door was never opened?
it does that to mine ford flex 13
2013 rear passenger door solid yellow & purple grey stripe wires worked.
Until it blew the fuses!!
I am about to do the same to this 14 flex.
we did this and….IT WORKED😁😁😂😂😝😝😘
How hard would it be to swap the door sensor?
It's no hard but the sensors are well over $100 a piece.
So what color are the wires??? Is it just the bottom 2?
He said......green and purple
Which two colors do you splice?
Green and purple he said
the only difference we had was that ours was the passenger door and we had to ground yell/blk and white wires
Thank you for the heads up April! It worked out perfect!
this comment was very helpful. At 1st i did it wrong but after reading this comment i did it and it worked perfect. Thank you
Did you JUST splice the yellow and white together or did you splice them together with a third color?
just did that to my car.. worked out but only issue was my stereo will stay on when it would usually turn off when i would open my car
Yes because the car still thinks you are inside. I would just reach over and open and close the passenger door.
Worked great on a rental car, heard it caught fire two weeks later.
😳 Was this meant as a warning or a joke?
I will be doing this for for my 2009 ford flex on the rear right door but if it were the driver side door..... i'll just let the stealership do it right, i guess
So yeah, it turned off the door ajar light, but now the power locks don't work. It definitely shorted something.
This did not work on my 2014 Flex.
Didn't work on my 2013 Flex either.

Had no battery issues at all.

My 2013 F Flex….. just tried this and I call BS
I just did it on my 2013 flex and worked , if you used one of them blue lock splice thing take pliers and push it harder
Scam, don't try this does not work, I tried to to this to my passenger door and zero results.
Didn't work and I triple checked I had the right wires before doing this. So still have a door ajar notice and all that for nothing.
