I could just melt into a puddle on the floor right now. . . .I'm only 19 years old, but I can totally picture myself in my smoky jazz club, slow dancing to this song with my head resting on my partners shoulder. . .X-) *Ella was a beauty
One of my oldest dreams is to be in New York, go for a run or a walk in central park in the prime of the autumn listening to Ella and Louis Autumn in New York. Would somehow feel like a Woody Allen movie moment.
Guess what, there is a movie by Woody Allen like that called "A Rainy Day in New York" featuring Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez. I loved it, though people said it was boring and bad.
Yes. I took photos today in Central Park. It was a beautiful day too. A good vibe. I like the colors of the trees 🌳 and bushes. I saw very few older people walking in the park.
Louis and Ella together made magic. Each could sing alone or with others, but together, these two artists were heavently. Glad I grew up during their time. My favorite way of listening is with my eyes closed.
Not that age matters.... but I lucked out when a teacher had me do a report on Satchmo when I was in the 4th grade. I've been in love with his music and most other Jazz ever since. 25 years later I must say I still come back to these classics over todays jazz.
What's absolutely amazing is that this song about New York was written (both music and lyrics) by a Russian immigrant with Belorussian roots. He felt the spirit of the city perfectly.
Listening to this while in a lockdown, hoping that the world will get back to normal soon. Shoutout to everyone in a lockdown - take care, you’re not alone!
Well spoken. I agree. Would also like to hear Charles Lloyd with Tom Grant do Autumn in New York. A great saxophone combined with a remarkable pianist. Not sure when recorded.
Sad that today is a beautiful autumn in NY and we’re all living in the craziest and scariest time in over a century. Yet hearing Ella and Louis brings back memories of true beauty and what will be in the future. Two of the absolute best entertainers ever!
Oh dear🤦🏻♂️ freedom is only true freedom when you're not hampering someone else's my friend, like when you're not destroying the world's climate for everyone else too for example
Could not agree with you more such innocence within this music of that time beautiful and full of romance kisses to the neck of a woman and her hands Bwoy!!! More of this
Umma Balasundram It’s a deeply sad song actually. It’s a lie. Don’t get me wrong, it is euphonious, ethereal and beautiful but it is celebrating spiritual darkness on a deeper esoteric level. But I’m an obscure, anonymous commentator and you likely won’t believe what I am really saying to you..
I am listening to this sitting in my garden by candlelight welcoming my new baby granddaughter into the world. Blesssings. Also, I've got a cheeky Jamesons going on. Xxxx
Just came back from a New York vacation and this song was in my mind as I walked through the upper east side - I get it - what a beautiful song, and a beautiful life you can have . . . thank you to all the New Yorkers who were so kind to me on my trip . . . and to Louis and Ella you are forever . . .
Ella Fitzgerald has the sweetest voice that enters your soul when you listen to her. Her collaborative work with Louie Satchmo Armstrong is probably the best combination of any duo.
I‘am at the Central Park at this moment and I‘m listening to this song. It‘s my birthday. It was one of my biggest dreams to do this. Thank you for that beautiful song ❤
I remember hearing Ella's voice being played when I was sitting in a cafe in London many years ago; I was simply spellbound. Her wonderful singing has the delicacy of cherry blossom combined with the sophistication of Chanel No 5 💐💕
How elegantly Fitzgerald leads back to the original key after the modulation for Armstrong’s themes... just love it! She could do strong things moving so little🌹
Pam I think he meant Louis , Ray and most of the greatest black musicians and entertainers that ever lived was STUCK in jim crow segregation era , which they were. Many had success, but not as much as they wanted , in alot of cases their music wasn't heard on radio stations unless they were sung by white singers
Jeff Merritt they are immortal and the fight for freedom and equality persists to this day! Thanks to no small part of these timeless idols :) happy listening
Once when I was very young, Ella was on tv. I had acquired a love for jazz, and I thought l would impress my dad by singing along. He shush me. "Let's hear Ella' he said, and his face was rapturous.
What a majestic voice, such tones, such mellowness and sweetness, such power that of Ella's voice. And Louis needs no presentation, his rsapy voice and his trumpet, in which he plays no music, but pure feelings. This is the best your ears can have.
@@jonathanhilliard9772 Some say he had four arms and when he was walking bass behind a singer he'd pluck the bass guitar with his second left arm and light and smoke a cigarrette with his free first right arm.
I love listening to this song while house cleaning or cooking, or just sitting drinking some tea or cocoa, and eating cookies (the pinwheel cookies with almonds)...LOL! I love this!
every once and awhile you'll hear a song that really hits you. Makes you think about that one person that you told yourself you wouldn't think about, mostly cause it hurts... but when you listen to this and any good jazz it makes you realize its ok...
Listening to this on a warm summer evening, but I don't care. Yeah, it is kind of a shame that "the young" (I count myself among them) are pretty much abandoning this music for other stuff. But that's how it has gone for ages. People abandoned classical music much the same way. But it is still there, and so will timeless classics like this song survive in the hearts of those who do listen to this.
Simplemente éste disco es sublime 1º canta Ella luego Louis y luego Armstrong con su trompeta, todo rodeado de un buen gusto y romanticismo, crean un clima muy especial.Qué buen arreglo y orquestación. They are the top.
I actually discovered this song right before going to New York in the fall and I'm so GLAD that I found it. This song is exactly what being in New York as the leaves change color feels like. And I mean upstate New York not NYC . Upstate New York is so beautiful n the fall. I miss it.
How is it Lady GaGa gets a gazillion views...yet this beautiful ballad gets not even a fraction of that? I adore this song....anything these two touched turned to gold....

The beauty that lives here is astounding. Louis was stuck in Jim Crowe, but his art had no bounds.

I remember staying at the Essex house one Octber. Our room overlooked Central Park and I thought how beautiful Autumn in N.ew York is.
Autumn in New York
Why does it seem so inviting
Autumn in New York
It spells the thrill of first-knighting
Glittering crowds and shimmering clouds
In canyons of steel
They're making me feel, I'm home
It's autumn in New York
That brings the promise of new love
Autumn in New York
Is often mingled with pain
Dreamers with empty hands
They sigh for exotic lands
It's autumn in New York
It's good to live it again
This autumn in New York
Transforms the slums into Mayfair
Autumn in New York
You'll need no castles in Spain
Lovers that bless the dark
On benches in Central Park
It's autumn in New York
It's good to live it again
