    The attention to detail in the models and sets is astounding. Anyone who has attempted to build models will know and envy the skills of the set and model makers. At the risk of sounding like an old fogy, I wonder how many kids now have the patience to spend a week or two building a miniature of anything...

    • @markfryer9880

      Not many. Most have their heads stuck inside their phones or computers.

      Actually, model building and painting is highly popular right now in a lot of different ages. I started heavily with prehistoric Diorama and Basebuilding in late 2019, when i just got 30. Finally i started this hobby. I wanted it my whole life.
      Moreover Warhammer (Miniature Tabletop Wargamining. Started in the 80s. Am sorry if you already know al that. But just in case) is a frikkin huge thing all over the world from old Frogs to Kids and Teenagers.
      Of course, a lot of people are on their Phones in the Internet. Like we are, right now. Not building models.
      It really is a thing. Models and paintworks have more products in the shelves as ever and the Internet is full of tutorials, communities, videos and forums about model building. Sculpting and so on. And let's not forget the whole world of scale model trains.
      It is not wrong that most people (not only the Kids!) Seem to marry their Phone (a look into my mirror.. well) and lost the ability to concentrate on something like that.
      But Model building is so big. And there a are a lot of young People, that blow every Model or Landscape from this show out of existence in Quality and Realism. Materials and techniques came a long way. And filming all that is also a different task.
      It is easy to see only the Kids that behave so different to what you are used to know or how you grew up. But it is not always the whole picture. Hard to see. Also for me.
      Same as i have a focus on these topics because i am intersted in Dioramas and models. So i am also not completely able to see it without this Bubble. :D also, this is an emotional topic for humans.
      Cheers and happy Model Building. If not, why not start with this wonderful hobby. Fantastic for mental health, too :D
      Best Regards from Germany
      EDIT: OH! Post is 10 years old :D oops. Hope u are fine :D

  • @Woody615

    What I LOVED about the original show was that it looked like how I played with toys. Throwing and crashing the toys into the pool. It was the same type of splash that was shown on Thunderbirds, not this perfect CGI of what a splash would look like. I knew they were toys on the show, and it was exactly how I played with my toys.
    What I don't like about the 2004 movie and the new series, is that they try too hard to make everything look real. I loved the original because it was how my best friend and I played with toys in the backyard. They looked like how we were playing with our G.I. Joes, our Hot Wheels, our Johnny Lightning cars, and our Lego (with our hand made ships, not the new ones that have instructions as to how to make the toy and what it should look like). The show looked exactly like when we lit fire crackers under the tank toys and blew them up. THAT is why I loved the original series.

      The 2004 movie was ridiculous. They tried too hard to "futurize" timeless designs that shouldn't've been messed with and the final results looked awful. The Hood was on Tracy Island and the entire fucking movie revolves around alan. Gerry said it was shit, and the movie was a complete failure... serves them right.

    Apparently Gerry "hated" John because of the puppet's "flat" expression, and rather cold voice. He was originally intended to fly Thunderbird 1, but when Gerry saw the puppet he wasn't happy with how it looked. Due to the long creative process of the puppets, it was too much hassle to make a new puppet, so they sent him to space instead.

      Just a couple of degrees sway to the side in any direction, on just one launch, for any reason, and an engine pod of Thunderbird five bumps against the clubhouse deck, the reverberation bounces the entire vehicle back down, It hits the launch pad, the hydrazine and fuming red nitrate fuel spills from ruptured tanks, immediately bursts into a huge fireball, and tracy island goes up with a gigantic flaming blast!

    The main problem with Thunderbird 1 is that it couldn't do a damn thing. It arrived at the scene, and then waited for Thunderbird 2 to bring the actual rescue equipment.

    • @Johnno9989
      @Johnno9989 11 лет назад +16

      It did do a few things occasionally. Remember in that episode End Of The Road where Eddie's truck was hanging over the cliff and Scott positioned TB1's nose cone under the truck to stop it from over-toppling? - of course then TB2 did the rest. Oh and TB1 also fired them rocket things to prevent the large rocks from hitting the vehicle.
      And there was also the time when the Hood had some film footage of International Rescue ready to show to his boss. Then Scott persued him with TB1 and fired a few bullets to make him give in.

      Do puppets need a bathroom?

      Super marionettes are fully functional, so yes. Puppeteers-in-training start on bathroom duty.

    All the sons had different coloured hair. As a child I never noticed this but as I grew into a sick adult alarms bells began to ring.

      one the color of the father, the other of the mother, the next a mixture of both.
      they don't need 5 different mothers ;)

      She was well worn out before she first got to Tracy Island. The boys were just to help keep her in condition.

    What an imaginative and cool show (I only just learned of it),, but why did the characters have American accents? The narrator (in the glasses) looks like Noel Harrison (as U.N.C.L.E.'s Mark Slate) and the chauffeur like Ringo Starr!! Several of them remind me of Ray Wise (Twin Peaks) . How much FUN?! They are so stud-ly. Thank you for the upload

Yes the space elevator a idea and invention from Japanese inventors and it seems that they are busy to make that project real. If TB1 could travel at 1500 mph...how come it would have taken him 2 hours to get to France? (as seen in "The Perils of Penelope")

    • @timhiltonsuperstar
      @timhiltonsuperstar 11 лет назад

      Possibly...but I have since concluded that the island where TB1 is located is somewhere in the South Pacific...which could explain the distances involved here...

      MACHOMISTERYMAN As it must take some time to accelerate and decelerate to and from such speeds I imagine that it can't possibility be at maximum speed for the entire journey so therefore the delay despite the max speed. Also can you imagine how boring it would be if there wasn't that "they aren't going to make it in time moment".
