I recommend that you make an additional column, "Additional Principal paid", right next to "Principal Paid". In this column you can enter the additional payments being made towards the principal in between. In this case, the "Loan Balance" at the benginning of every month will get reduced by the SUM of "Principal Paid" and "Additional Principal Paid".

It's a 3 year Balloon I'm thinking that if I pay additional payments to the principal ahead of time it reduces the balloon payment at the end. Am I thinking about that correctly?
