      I actually didn't see it as calculating in a negative way. I think he's incredibly socially awkward and had a script ready to use on the women just like he had his list of questions ready. If it worked on anyone he would be happy but 2 women were interested and I don't think he expected to have options. Also we see season after season that men struggle to choose between 2 women and it makes sense because men don't have much experience with that in the real world. Usually it's women who do the rejecting and have multiple options.

    Autistic peer support specialist here - I also surround myself with neurodivergents, and this does *not* appear like neurodivergence related behaviors to me at all. Most autistics care deeply for others and even if we may at times struggle with the expression aspect - Matthew's callousness is not a normative representation of autism. I am not a clinician but this seems more like calculatedness, he's not struggling to read social cues, and in fact uses them to his advantage. He tells AD how she feels, and seems to use that against her for his benefit. Again, not a clinician, but this appears more consistent with Axis B personality disorders such as antisocial and/or narcissistic PD, *not* autism. ♡

    • @xletragedyx
      @xletragedyx 3 месяца назад +23

      I'm so annoyed by all the people defending Matthew by saying he seems autistic. I'm no expert but I've known a few autistic people and I agree with you. You don't just turn it off and on, and some people that I've known have been so...compassionate and interested in other people, and vibrant and interesting. Matthew is something else. His personality seems repulsive and I feel like that's insulting to autistic people to be like "oh he's ND definitely!"

    • @Holy_ShihTzu
      @Holy_ShihTzu 3 месяца назад +13

      @xletragedyx If you are annoyed then you can perhaps imagine how it feels for those of us in the autistic community who deal with a lot of stigma, ableism and stereotypes. It is scary to me to hear autism thrown out as a differential in the same sentence as severe personality disorders because these are apples and oranges. A Developmental condition is very different from antisocial or NPD. An autistic person is highly likely to be manipulated or taken advantage of so there's even a term for this "autistic mate crime". Antisocial and NPD persons are more likely to manipulate others, and in many cases will take the opportunity to prey on the social naivete of autistic people. Thankfully I am noticing most mental health professionals in their videos are leaning towards labeling Matthew's behaviors as possibly indicating personality disordered traits rather than a Developmental condition like autism, but hearing them strung together is still alarming and scary as it can create the conditions for many people to misinterpret and conflate.

    Chelsea is completely projecting all of her insecurities on to others. I feel bad for Jimmy because I think he does love her but she will wear him down. I don’t think she actually loves him, she loves the idea of him. Her crying is a form of manipulation and tactic to get her way. It’s borderline scary and triggering because I have been that way and I’ve had someone do it to me.
    Her pattern is she sees something, has a negative thought, projects her negative beliefs onto others, then starts a fight and try to make it their fault until she either wears them down or they set a boundary and stand up for themselves, if they do the latter she will beg and fawn for them not to leave. Then the cycle starts again. If jimmy stays with her he is going to be a shell of himself and will morph into her version of what she wants him to do.
    Every time I watch any scenes with them I’m literally screaming at the tv “ jimmy stand up for yourself”.
    Chelsea is scary.

    • @Lillyswords
      @Lillyswords 3 месяца назад +46

      Definitely scary to watch how she weaponizes her tears.
      Two case scenarios:
      1- Jimmy truly loves and is attracted to her: her insecurities will make him wish he had never met her because she will exhaust him mentally until leaves her.
      2- Jimmy is not really attracted to her and that’s why she feels the way she does: it’s still her responsibility to accept things as they are and leave him, instead of falling into a toxic pattern of forcing someone to admit that they indeed love you when you know they don’t.
      When both talk about the reasons why they chose each other, this dynamic was inevitable. This is a match made in hell.

      She does not communicate with the intention of explaining her point and view, receiving her partner's point of view, and working from there on equal footing.

    One thing that stuck out to me about Clay is how he keeps talking about how he’s created a persona, based on his unfaithful father, and that what he portrays isn’t who he really is. He straight up says this and says “I’m a nerd fr.” That to me was a major red flag. He also generally seems disinterested in conversations with AD and seems to being trying to giver her an out the whole time. I don’t think he’s really that different from Matthew. I think that culturally it comes out differently. Once he came through like “AD = All Day!!” I knew it was boutta be a wild ride.

    • @samanthas8340
      @samanthas8340 3 месяца назад +5

      Hmm I imagine for Clay if he is trying to give her sn out it's because he has an avoidant attachment style and intimacy scares him. I think he wants it but maybe doesn't feel "good enough" so he typically persues relationships that won't last because they can't confirm his deep seeded beliefs.
      Matthew on the other is persuing two women because I think he wants a relationship, that, or he just wants fame/prestige 🤷‍♀️ if he does want a relationship then my assumption is its its coming from a more distant place and comprehension of wanting what other people have and what society tells him he should want and so he doesnt really matter who it is; he just wants to experience it. Intimacy is obviously more critical to us as a species, but Matthew might not be thinking about that consciously.

    • @beewest5704

      @@samanthas8340Clay is not ready. He obviously has no room for a wife in his life. His mentors & the men he looks up to are all serial cheaters. He wants AD to baby him & be his therapist. They will make a toxic pairing that would not surprise me.

    • @pigpjs
      @pigpjs 2 месяца назад +7

      I will give Clay credit, he has been very open with AD about his struggles due to trauma and that he doesn't know if he can overcome those fears and doubts. She seemingly keeps ignoring these or trying to tell him it will be fine.

    • @Out_on_a_Limb_Life
      @Out_on_a_Limb_Life 2 месяца назад +2

      I don't think he's anything like Matthew! Clay is a bit all over the place emotionally - he wants intimacy but is quite stressed out by it and doesn't trust himself. Matthew is entirely a different matter.

    Thank you for articulating the ~Je ne sais quoi quality about clay. I actually think he’s my favorite of the guys and I usually have zero tolerance for player types. He seems like he has a well-meaning heart and an emotional depth to him that I’m not seeing in any of the other men…. But he also seems like he is held back or trapped by trauma (no judgement- we’ve all experienced this) so he defaults to acting douchey because it’s so surface-level. I know it’s cliche to say this, but I think he would really benefit from and shine after working with a therapist. He seems like he just needs a little help expressing his emotions, just like you said.
    Love to you, steph! ❤

      He did say he has an ego and it is fragile. I agree with you and I think real emotions make him uncomfortable and he starts to self sabotage and lets that ego takeover. It’s hard seeing real glimpses of him for him to then act an ass. AD is going to get whiplash from these behaviors and he will always find himself in unfulfilling self serving, surface level relationships if he can’t get some direction, healing, and order now.

    Matthew was spot on! I believe it was NPD because when Amber left the show he immediately wanted to go find her. It was like she kick started an obsession that he needed to be able to reject her to regulate his Ego and he started trying to play it like he really cared about her. Such an odd dynamic!!

    I’m glad you touched on the fact that Jess kept the fact that she had a daughter from the guys because she wanted them to get to know her first. I agree that being a mother is a huge part of who you are so I’m not sure how I would keep that from someone who’s getting to know me. I thought it was a bad idea from the jump. Also Chelsea does seem like an emotional manipulator and I’d love for you to go a little more in depth when it comes to how and when she cries, the crying just doesn’t seem genuine at any point. Love your videos, I actually watch LIB because I want to see your videos after. ❤
