I was seven in 1970. I loved hot wheels cars and the bright orange plastic tracks that you could piece together all over the house. I had a Flip Wilson/Geraldine Jones doll I got for christmas. You pulled a string on the doll and it would say funny Geraldine classic phrases like "The devil made me buy this dress"..My stepdad had a pickup truck with an 8-track stereo system and a bumper sticker on the rear bumper that said America Love it or Leave it..

I was 8 years young on this year. I think that it was 1972 when Monty Python showed up on PBS in San Antonio TX. This show saved my life LOL. I was 16 when I got my 1st muscle car, a used metal flake green Challenger, forget the year of it's make. Young and dumb, I loved being a kid in the 70's. Lots of firsts for me in that decade. Mom was head of the switch line dept. for Southwestern bell then.

Even though I was just a kid I could name all the muscle cars. I tried to convince my dad get the purple station wagon we took a test drive in...that was purple..with a 427...He didn't go for it. 🤣 I remember those fringe jackets. A few people I knew had them. I thought they were cool. 🤣 And they kinda were. 😐 🤣 A very good decade. Great channel.

My best thing was I meet a very beautiful Brunette on 9/13/79, went out 9/15/79 and we have been together ever since. Married 8/30/83 and 3 kids since and we are still together. I think her mini skirts had a lot to do with it, boy I sure miss them.

Things were simpler than for sure, except without today’s technology. I was only 11 I. 1970 but my better memories were late 70s when I turned 20 in 1979 and was blessed to buy my dream car. It’s a 73 Pontiac Trans am that I still own to this day and I’m now 62 years old. God bless all and God bless America, peace to all 🙏

Wow. That is very cool. I was born in 1968 and have become fascinated with the 70s. It was wonderful that you had the hindsight to hang on to your first car. I wish I would have hung on to everything I ever had as a kid. I understand now, you must hang on to the memories you can. Unfortunately, I don’t have much (physically) to look back on today, from the 70s.

I remember starting kindergarten. I dunno if it was the first day but I do remember crawling between my teachers legs and escaping out the door to run and find my big brother.
I had separation anxiety and it took a few weeks every year to be able to go to school.
I also got left behind at school one day and didn't know how to get home so I just sat on the steps to the school and eventually my mom drove up.
Then my dad had a massive stroke which left him paralyzed on his left side. He could walk but his left arm was useless. I never saw him in the hospital but I kind of remember him being helped into the house (I don't remember who helped him).
1970 is also the year I met my best friend.

By 1970 I was a Sophomore in high school. I had been working with a framing contractor summers and weekends since I was 11 years old and I was making regular carpenter's wages by age 13. I bought with my own money a 1967 Yamaha 125 dirt bike, a 1961 Thunderbird convertible and a 1966 Mustang. Gas where I was cost .25 cents a gallon. In 1970 I was 15 years old!
